Dunleavy’s is always a fun restaurant, don’t get me wrong, but their customer service as of recent has been atrocious. I frequently visit Dunleavy’s when I am in town, but I do not think I will attend next time around. I ordered a shirt from their website on March 2nd. I called back on March 10th after the allotted business days went by with no shirt. Jamie, the manger, promised me he’d get an order out after the St. Patrick’s Day craze. A month went by and no shirt – again, same false promise over the phone. I have called Dunleavy’s about six times now just trying to get my money back and have been treated rudely. I have not been treated like customers should be. Fast forward 3 months and I have still received nothing and have been given nothing but falsehoods on the phone. For an Irish pub that prides themselves on «one hundred thousand welcomes» they are not the most welcoming.

My first visit, meaning to come for a while. It’s a cozy little spot full of locals. We sat up at the bar & talked to a few. I ordered the mussels in white wine with toasted bread. They were yum. So good. & apparently Wednesday night is half price wings & people were raving at how good they were. The locals told me, Sullivan’s are starting to see the tourists come into town. This bar is owned by an American living in Connecticut. It’s not truly Irish although it has that feel. They also have outdoor seating on the street but it’s a busy intersection

Wings were excellent! I would recommend them. The burger was also very good. Very reasonable prices.

Mediocre bar food. We sat ourselves and waited 5 minutes to get menus and drinks. I got the quesadilla which is comparable to Taco bell(only double the price) and my husband got a burger, medium rare and the outside of it was burnt. Not really sure why everyone is raving about this place because food is not worth even half of what we paid. Looked like something out of bar rescue.

Typical bar atmosphere and food. Had wings which were grilled(I like that) but they were a bit over cooked. Note that the hot sauce has a lot of pepper… just FYI. Last time I was here the food was better. Regardless, great location and good people.

Stopped here for a Bloody Mary before heading next door for lunch. The Bloody Mary was just ok it needed flavor, the spice was good but it needed salt or something. Had no garnish… We also decided to try their loaded nachos and those were pretty darn good!!!

Molly our server was great! The food was good, it was slower for a Saturday afternoon on the beach, which my boyfriend and I really appreciated. His burger was great! Beer cold.

Last time I had a meal like this I was in Djibouti, Africa. I’m a local. What happened to this place is something we’ll never know. I sat in a fly infested restaurant where the meat, which was camel, was undercooked and you accepted the fact that you’re going to get sick. It was hell and you had to eat to keep going. I felt the same tonight when I ate there tonight. A meal to eat to not stay hungry. I accepted the fact I might be hugging the toilet throughout the night but the heat and the flies made me not care one bit. This place has gone down hill. You can take this place and stick in Djibouti and nobody would know the difference. I actually prefer the camel stew I had there. Let me explain the meal I had below: The waitress had no idea what was going on. She didn’t even know what was in the the buffalo chicken wrap. I think she said there’s possibly chicken in it. Come on!!! Seriously!!! Second is the meat for our burgers was like the meat from camels. The burgers were supposed to be medium rare and they were raw. I don’t even think the lions in Africa would eat this slop. We had to send them back to get to the temperature we wanted. Of course this meant they burnt they hell out of them. All the garnish, tomato, onion that came with the burger before I sent it back disappeared. I didn’t care at this point. I wanted this torture to be over so I just dove in. I tasted nothing but a gas burnt burger. It was like tasting gas mixed with a zippo lighter. I still didn’t care because I told myself I would never come back here. I couldn’t wait to leave this place. The bugs, terrible service, waitress who forgot everything we asked for, awful food and warm beer would drive away any local away for a very long time. They have some serious competition in this town now. They’re no longer the only bar on the block. Better make a change or start thinking about moving to Djibouti.

Definitely get the wings. I don’t generally like them, nor my wife, but we got honey-mustard wings with ranch dip. Oh my. One of the best treats I’ve had in my 2-week trip thru Alabama, GA, and the Carolinas. Chicken breast lunch special was pretty good.

Needed a place to spend St Patrick’s Day while I was visiting Charleston. This place was great. Usually St Patrick’s Day brings out the«amateur«wild partners and this place was awesome because everyone felt welcome.

We just stopped by for a quick snack and drink after fishing. Great wings! Very good RI clam chowder. Kind of weird that you can’t get anything fried, not even fries with your burger, but I heard that has something to do with their zoning/fire laws in such an old building. Not a problem for me, just an interesting quirk. We enjoyed the pub atmosphere and it really catered to our situation of bringing the dog with us. We will definitely be back to try more food.

Never in my life have I experienced such shock and disappointment — they don’t have fries on the menu and I’d ordered a burger! Well, clutch my heart! That doesn’t seem right somehow. Is this even legal? Three pathetic sides to choose from and I got the lamest, coleslaw. Does anyone ever crave coleslaw? Coleslaw is an afterthought like when you text your annoying ex you can’t stand because everyone is busy and you don’t feel like going out alone. Damn good burger though, and I don’t feel like I’m going to fall asleep behind the wheel but I’m still bitter.

Pub food, just all right, no big deal, service, NG. Said hello to waitress, did not see her until I had to ask for a check. She said she got so busy, well, I I, m sure it’s not the first, so why Did she not know how to handle it. No excuse. I just think that customer service has become a thing of he past. Frank G

It is apparent after 22 years in business, an expansion of the menu is a pleasant surprise. We stopped for nachos and beer, Jessica suggested Mussels which were on the special’s menu today. Well, let me just say, my husband got one mussel, I ate the rest with such a smile and so many«wow, this is yummy», I think I embarrassed him, but left the chef grinning. I have not had mussels for quite a bit, and being someone who really enjoys fresh seafood, I have to say, this place has the best Mussels, no grit in any way, and such a delictible sauce, I had to dip my bread in it! And whomever said the fries were bad, well, they have not had fries in 22 years(aka: Never). So perhaps it is some surrounding place with the bad fries… We will be back!

I’ve been coming to this place since I was a kid, and I gotta tell you, if you can find a place with a more down home vibe than this please let me know. You’ll see it all here, fisherman, kite surfers, families, and the beer drinker. I have fallen in to every one of these categories and every time, after a day of whatever, I always suggest Dunleavy’s. Popcorn machine cuts on in the afternoon, as does the beach crowd. Stop by for a Harp and a hot dog, and enjoy yourself. Don’t expect anything fancy, this place is a dive, but the best on Sully’s Island.

This is what it is: A dive beach bar. They have a good selection of beer on tap, always cold. The staff is friendly. Yes, it gets busy(like on July 4 weekend) and anyone would be stressed with 3 – 4 people yelling out orders to you at the same time while you are trying to tally up a check. I can’t ding for that. My order was forgotten once, but again, it’s a dive bar and I don’t remind repeating myself. The food: The nachos and the turkey bacon sandwich were good. The Mahi special was decent. The price was too high for the lack of amount of fish. I was at least happy that the portion wasn’t so big that I couldn’t finish it. It’s super close to one of the beach trails, so when the rain cloud started coming(which they often do), I was able to jog to the bar and get in before the rain shower. Yes, the menu says Cash Only about a hundred times… I know that most things that seem obvious and ridiculous to the rest of us was put there for a reason. I’m willing to bet that some people still don’t read and try to pay with a credit card.

The menu is nothing to brag about, but there are local craft brews on tap, and the patrons are friendly. Very welcoming neighborhood bar vibe. Dunleavy’s real selling point is their live music– they book some great talent. Cash only, $ 3ATM. Outdoor seating.

Wow! Great place — I truly can not understand the bad reviews, although some of them are years old. This is a casual beach bar in the middle of Sullivan’s Island. We stopped in Saturday PM for a bite and a beer. GREAT selection of beer on tap. It’s a beach bar — not 5 star dining — the menu was small but still had many good choices. The food was well priced, good tasting and served nicely. The service was great even though they were very busy. The staff hustled with drinks, food, clearing off tables, etc. They were genuinely friendly and happy and made us feel welcomed. It’s a must if you’re on Sullivan’s Island.

I wish I could give this restaurant NO stars. Where to begin? 1st. We waited outside for a server for over 5 minutes. 2nd. They only take cash and the ATM charges $ 3. 3rd. Server forgot things and left drinks empty until we asked for more 4th. The Bloody Mary was so disgusting, watered down and just not drinkable 5th. There were four of us and every meal was so so so gross. How do you mess up a turkey and bacon on sourdough? The Reuben also came with no thousand island. 6th. One friend asked for ranch and was given tarter sauce. 7th. Server asked if we wanted checks and 10 minutes later I had to hunt her down for our checks and for our plates to be cleared. Look, I know things happen and people get busy but I’ve been a server for 6 years and I know what is expected for a nice meal out. Get your act together Dunleavys! You’re in such a great location surrounded by good places and tourists. The water was good and that’s about it. Try Poes across the street or home team next door. Way better food and service!

When the hell was I here??? Oh wait now I remember — we sat down outside after asking inside if we would have a server to which they said yes. 10 minutes passed and no one could be bothered to take our order. Peeeeeace. Oh, CASHONLY as the menu tells you 40 billionty times.
