Baraka Halal Market & Grill

As a middle eastern I always get excited about trying a kabob when I see a new place, but this will be the last time I try anything at Baraka market. The Kabob was thick but bland. Seems as if they had just grabbed mine out of the freezer and threw it on the grill. Not tender whatsoever so don’t be FOOLED by the pictures you see on display. As for the rice, very dry, bland and stuck together. The hummus on the side I did not try as it was a pile of oil sitting in the middle, just use basmati and save yourself the trouble. Not racisit but I see a pattern of how Kabobs and Mediterranean dishes are prepared and cooked from a certain religion. Think about cleanliness but I will leave the rest up to you guys to decide. Again I would not try the Kabob dish from here. Ever.

Never ever step into this rude place
Forget the fact of what they stock and what not. That new guys who manage the meat stalk are rude, aggressive and unfit to deal with any human

I love this place. The meat there is great quality and the cheapest of all halal meat shops in the Bay area.

I went here this afternoon with my grandma cravin for a kabob. When the food was already served, in just one look the food was not that good, the rice was too hard an they stick together, and the very disappointing part was my kabob was super dry and lack of flavoring. It was bland and not delicious at all. The vegies was not fresh and old. The total doule beef kabob was a waste. Wasted my time and money going there. Definitely not coming back. The worst kabob i ever tasted. Geeez!

I purchased whole fresh chicken from Baraka Halal section.
Chicken was properly cleaned & cut as per my instructions.
Meat quality was good and fresh. The only reason I am giving 2 Star less is handling of the chicken! They do not use any gloves to avoid direct contact with meat. Also, weighing scale has no tray /​bowl to carry the meat portion.
I would not go back.

Remarkably clean and well kept Halal butcher. Also sells marinated kebabs. There’s a small grill in the side where they make kebabs to order. Quality grocery items. Everything you’d expect of a middle eastern grocery store and butcher shop.

I didn’t shop there but was in the area of their store eating my subway with my dog. He clearly can’t go into subway so we sat outside using one of «their» tables. The owner of this store taps on the window and motions for me to come inside the store only to tell me that I can’t eat my food there and my dog is scaring his customers away. Keep in mind my German Shepherd mix is 12 years old, has gray hair from ear to ear and was just laying there sleeping. He was extremely rude and unreasonable! You can shop there if you want but I surely don’t want to give my hard earned money to a rude, animal hater like that.

Good selection of Turkish items but a little overpriced. In addition, most items miss price labels. If they had price labels on every item, I would definately come here more often.

The butcher in the meat market is rude. Since then I switched to buying meat from Taj Imports, Sunnyvale.

They said in Arabic ‘baraka’ means having a spiritual power that certain people and objects have. The name is very cool for a middle Eastern store where you can find magical things! (like, for example, that pomegranate tea in a pretty tin container that you can reuse to keep small treasures). I was looking to find the equivalent of my beloved North Park Produce store (very popular in San Diego) here in the valley.
Even if not as big as the one I just mentioned, I got all I was looking for: preserved lemons from Egypt and olives from Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey (no, I don’t collect them, I eat them all and also give away to appreciating friends and colleagues!). Thanks to a new Jordan friend I met recently I got to know this store. Otherwise probably I would have ignored it as the strip mall where is located does not indicate ‘come here’ in a seductive way.
I will go to get my supplies of ‘exotic’ herbs and condiments there as well, plus I have to try the grill side of the store and see how it is. Very attentive customer service, it looks to me like a small family business.

Decent place

After months of eating copious amounts of their chicken and beef shawarma, I decided to try out their raw meat section of the store. I’m pleased to say that their chicken and lamb is legit; fresh and priced just right.
Additionally, I’m a big fan of their ground chicken, which I’m not able to find at every supermarket that I go to. I love to cook the ground chicken with salt and pepper, a few vegetables, and then make a pot of white or brown rice. It’s simple, but healthy and very tasty.
Lastly, Baraka Market is a place I recommend to every meat lover and, now that the booby-​bar next door is gone, hopefully more people will go in and check out their products.

Great middle eastern market for your cooking and eating needs. Feeling lazy? Well theyll grill you food too. Got the double beef kabob plate. Came with humus, salad, rice and two largish kabobs. There’s a float of hot sauce on the humus for some kick. Folks are super nice and it’s a good value meal.

I eat here everyday. If you want a low carb diet. This place accommodates you. MMMM good. I love hummus. The beef is good and the chicken. They also allow you to order extra roasted tomotoes and onions.

We went in to get a whole chicken. I asked the guy at the counter to remove the skin and cut the meat into pieces. He prepared a bag for us but when we got home we found that both the DRUMSTICKS were missing!!! I consider this as cheating since he would have sold the typically more expensive drumsticks separately.

The guy at the meat counter today was extremely rude. He refused to ground chicken thigh meat and was adamant that I buy stale-​looking «freshly» grounded chicken meat on display.

We went to get lamb. Always a great place for fresh meat.
I discovered they had special «dates without preservatives» which melt in my mouth!
Yummy.

Great Service but some of the items are expired but if you tell the owner, he will take care of it, Definitely a good place to buy middle eastern stuff.

Great foot and super fresh meat.

Bought a box of darjeeling tea and one pack of frozen meat pies. Neither were marked with prices and I reluctantly went to the cash register.
5 meat pies (Lahmajune) was almost $ 7 – 8
1 box of tea was around $ 5
My online receipt sent to me email account came to $ 13.23
I think if prices were clearly marked I wouldn’t have purchased all the items.
The grocery store also sells lunches for $ 6 – 7 dollars and photos look good.
Otherwise, I really want the place to be more organized, inviting (not all the lights were turned on during working hours) and labeling items with prices.
