History

Established in 1944.

We are a local family business. The short history is that George and Edna Collins started the store in 1944 and their sons Bill and Norm and later Terry ran the business until 1987 when Terry and Roxy Collins became the owners and let the older two brothers retire. In January 2015 Tim and Lynn Collins became the third generation owners. Tim is Bill’s son and has worked in the store in all areas. Lynn is a USAF veteran and her background includes working as a Registered Nurse and also leading worship and acting & directing theatre. Tim and Lynn have a vision for bringing beauty to their town of Swansea and surrounding community of Belleville.

Business Owner

Tim Collins remembers begging his dad to go to work with him at Collins and Sons Floor covering while in grade school. By sixth grade, his Dad relented and Tim began pushing a broom and then progressed to stock boy, to installer, to sales. Tim has an Associate degree in Business Administration. His Uncle Terry and Aunt Roxy took ownership of the company when Tim’s Dad retired. Tim left the business in 1999 to move to Wheaton, IL (Lynn’s home town) While there, he worked in a few of the flooring stores in the area and also gained management experience at Expo Design and at Menards. When his Aunt and Uncle, Roxy and Terry decided it was time for them to retire, Tim and Lynn decided to dive into this new opportunity and the paperwork was signed January 20^th, 2015. Tim is now back full circle and He and Lynn are the new owners of Collins Flooring America.
