When I was in need of some Immigration advice I Googled «Immigration Attorney’s» and up came a dozen different websites. I will start with a short summary, if you want the absolute best legal support and guidance, Sound Immigration is it. End of story.
For a much longer version, here my story, and it is indicative of the quality and compassion that Greg McLawsen has instilled in his law firm.
My story starts back in the 2013, when I met the love of my life on a trip to Amsterdam. It was literally love at first sight when my eyes met the eyes of my future wife in Leidseplein Square. From that very moment, I knew I would be with her for the rest of my life, the only question remaining would be, where?
As a socially-​conscious engineer, my general approach to life blends pragmatism, intuition, and compassion based on data and perception. Those key factors guided my wife and myself’s journey.
Given that I am lucky enough to have a remote job, and my wife was employed as a manager at a brick and mortar store in Holland, the first decision on our journey was easy, I would live with her in Holland, while we were able to weigh our options. For a year, we both lived and worked in Holland, making a few trips around the European Union to see what it had to offer.
At this point, we were still unsure what we wanted to do, but one thing I did know, I no longer wished to throw money away on my apartment in Washington D.C., especially given my office (for when I did visit) was located in Seattle. I had always wanted to live in Washington State, so my (at this time) girlfriend and I planned a month long road trip. We arrived in D.C., packed up my apartment and began the long journey across the United States.
Our first stop was Iowa, where I could keep my belongings in storage with my parents, and also my future wife could meet my parents for the first time! Afterward, we continued our journey to visit my brother in Missouri, who I had not seen in a while, then ultimately continued our trip through some of the most beautiful scenery the U.S. has to offer on our way to Washington.
Once I was in Washington, I knew this is where I wanted my U.S. home, based on geography alone. My work was based in Seattle, so having a home near there made sense for when I would be in the U.S. and wanted to visit the office. I found the perfect realtor (
) who helped find the perfect home, secluded in nature, but within an hour of downtown Seattle, outside of Port Orchard. With my new U.S. home picked out, I put down an offer, and we made our way back to Iowa to spend our remaining time with my family.
It was an evening during that visit that I officially proposed to my girlfriend, and she said yes! At this point, we had more questions than answers: Where would we get married? Where would we live? What did we want to do in life together?
All big questions, but for now, it was time to return to Amsterdam, so my wife could resume her work. During this time, I went through the not-​so-​fun process of buying a house while living in another country. Once the house was closed, it was time to fly back to take care of moving my belongings from storage in Iowa out to my new home in Washington. My fiancé had already used all her vacation on our previous trip, so I implored her to quit her job, so we could spend quality time understanding where we really wanted to live.
We flew directly to Washington, with my parents meeting us with a trailer full of all my possessions from my previous residence, and quickly set to work getting my new home setup. I should note, at this point, we had considered getting a fiancé visa, but given my wife is a Dutch national, and we still didn’t know where we wanted to get married, or even where we wanted our primary residence, we decided arriving on a 90-​day ESTA made the most sense at the time.
In these first few weeks in my new home, my fiancé bonded with my parents, and she instantly became family, an experience she did not have the luxury of growing up. She made it clear that she wanted to be married in Iowa with my family, and have her brother, one of the few relatives she does have, fly in to celebrate with us.
We planned our wedding a few months out, getting late into Fall. On the week before our big day, we set out on the drive from Washington to Iowa. Unfortunately, late into the first day of travel, we collided with a deer outside of Bozemann, MT, totally wrecking our car. It became clear we would not be able to proceed with the trip and had to return to Washington in a rental car. In those kind of trying moments, life can sometimes become much more focused and clear. In that moment of clarity, we both understood we wanted to stay in the U.S. However, we still had our wedding to consider! Her brother already had taken time off and booked his flight, so we decided to redirect his flight to Seattle, and we would be married with his presence and that of my long time friend from Seattle. The planned celebrations with other family would simply have to wait.

This law firm seemed way more professional that the others I considered working with. The lawyers are very knowledgable about immigration law and Greg is easy to talk to. This attorney’s first impression was really good. He was really good talker and make you feel like you are in good hand, but I was wrong. I paid him all the fee when he requested, but He didn’t follow up or checked on my family’s case for over 4 months. Then his excuse was he is really busy with book that he was writing and also busy with organizing some attorney group. I’m was paying clients and that is not my problems, and he should been handing our case. after a month of listening his excuse, I fired him and now I have really good knowledgeable attorney, and it only took this new attorney 2 weeks to review and fixed all this attorney’s mistakes and we were able to filed everything. I got my fees back but this nightmare cost us about total of 6 months of delayed.
