History

Established in 1994.

Tahoe Luxury Properties’ founder and president, Kelly Dietz started the business in a rustic 1 bedroom cabin in Tahoe City. It was her vision that recognized Lake Tahoe was starved for private lodging facilities that were different from the tradition shag carpet and musty linens found in many rental properties. She realized that it was possible to offer luxury properties at competitive and often more affordable rates than hotels, while giving vacationers the conveniences of private lodging. Thus began the steady growth, house-​by-​house, that blossomed into the business it is today, with over 150 properties on program.

Shortly after its founding, Bill Dietz partnered with Kelly to run the business. Bill manages the real estate arm of the company and, since 2006, has sold over $ 300M in residential real estate sales. Bill is consistently recognized as a top real estate agent in the Tahoe area.

Together, the Dietzs have grown TLUXP into the leading Lake Tahoe agency it is today.

Bill Dietz is President of Real Estate at Tahoe Luxury Properties. Bill has been involved with the company since its inception in 1994, actively overseeing business operations and marketing strategy.

Since 2006, Bill Dietz has sold over $ 300 million in residential real estate sales and has been recognized as the Tahoe Sierra’s top real estate agent. Well-​known for his vast understanding of the Lake Tahoe real estate market, Bill is a resource for journalists and is often quoted in the Wall Street Journal. He personally conducts thorough quarterly market analyses, utilized by news outlets. Bill’s expert knowledge of Tahoe’s unique market dynamic, along with 20 years involvement managing a vacation rental portfolio, allow him a comprehensive understanding of the investment opportunities in the region, as well as the impact of the tourism economy on the real estate market.

Bill has lived in the area since 1988 and is an active outdoorsman and ski enthusiast.

We just finished a stay at Front and Center and couldn’t have been happier with TLP. From start to finish, Ava made sure we were able to get the perfect house for our needs. The rental process was a breeze with docu-​sign and the Ava and Lupe were both timely with their communication and extremely responsive to questions.
The icing on the cake was Danni, the concierge manager. Danni was an incredible help to me in planning several activities. She arranged in home massage for my wife, a private chef, sent us child care recommendations which worked out wonderfully and even arranged for groceries to be delivered for us before we arrived. The only thing I can say about her is that we were amazed.
With all that said, when we arrived everything was as we expected from lighting to key placement for our late night arrival. The house was absolutely perfect and had everything we needed for our vacation. We had the best time and will definitely be back as soon as possible.

Tahoe Luxury Properties is exceptional. Period. I have spent most of my career in client service-​oriented jobs (consulting, banking, finance) so I have a very high bar for any time of service I use myself. It is RARE that I find a service — in any industry — that simply delights me. I have been working with TLux — as a homeowner (they rent my property) for about five years and they simply never cease to exceed my expectations. They are always helpful and friendly, but more importantly they are simply very very good at what they do. They help me to ensure that my property is always in perfect condition for rental tenants. They stay on top of the most minor details like «Kim you need more forks». It sounds silly but it’s this attention to detail that makes their rental properties a cut above the rest. I highly highly highly recommend them.

My family and I, along with another family, rented the Champagne Estate for 4 nights mid February, and I felt compelled to write a review to save someone else from blowing that kind of money both on this particular property and with this company.
Firstly, TLP neglected to inform us that the hot tub at the house was broken and wouldn’t be fixed in time for us to enjoy during our stay until we were halfway to Tahoe already. Aw, come ON! There went our adult time after the kids were in bed!
Secondly, after divvying up the rooms, I discovered that the comforter on the bed in the master suite was covered in stains (from what I can only imagine, but I will spare you the details and the photos I took to show the property manager). I managed to reel in my revulsion enough to remove it from the bed and asked my husband to mention it to Paul, the property manager when he came by for our tour later in the afternoon.
Thirdly, for a 15,000 square foot «luxury» home that is supposed to comfortably accommodate 16 people, the place was incredibly under and ill-​equipped. Not enough towels for all of the bathrooms (which weren’t washed and replaced by the housekeeper when she came daily to tidy up the place), a giant kitchen with a dozen baking sheets but not a single serving dish, and the most outdated technology I’ve seen in years. We even had a doorknob fall off the patio door during our stay.
We did our best to laugh it all off and try to make the best of our getaway, with the intention of offering some friendly feedback once we returned home. Imagine our surprise when we asked for a small refund (to be compensated for the last minute notice of a broken hot tub), and were answered with the accusation that we stained the master suite comforter ourselves, would forfeit our deposit and be contacted by their insurance claims department.
Update: TLP reached out today to refund a fair amount for us not having a working hot tub and agreed that we did not cause the damage to the bed linens. In any event, we’d prefer to rent homes from a company that screens their rentals better. I hope they’ve learned their lesson here.

We have used Tahoe Luxury Properties to rent vacation homes for years, and their service is always amazing. The houses are beautiful and well-​maintained. If an issue ever arises, they arrive promptly to address it. Their homes are as described on their web site, so there is no fear of disappointment. This review reflects my experience with Tahoe Luxury Properties, NOT the vacation home that we rented with them. The home was beautiful… and wonderful… but it was the combined efforts and attention of the Tahoe Luxury Properties staff that made our family reunion a success.
We’ve rented vacation homes from various sources over the years — private owners, management companies, HomeAway, VRBO (a disaster!!!), etc. — with good and bad results. The level of customer service provided by TLP was above and beyond anything that we’ve ever experienced. During the reservation process all of my questions were quickly and accurately answered. Follow-​up information was always provided immediately, and documentation was promptly forwarded to us.
I spent quite a bit of time working with Kevin, head of TLP’s concierge service. I don’t think I could have pulled this family reunion off without Kevin. He helped me arrange for baby equipment, catering, a birthday celebration, and was a great Lake Tahoe information source.
Shortly after arriving at our vacation rental we were greeted by a TLP rep who stopped by to check on an issue at the home. Before she left she asked if there was anything else she could do for us. We had been a bit overwhelmed by the «difficult» stairway leading down to the home, and asked if there was anyone we might contact to help us unload our SUV. She stepped outside, made a phone call, and within 10 minutes Kevin appeared to help us out. He helped my husband unload the SUV, brought everything in the house, and made sure we were OK before leaving.
The next morning as we were getting settled in, we realized that we couldn’t get the sound system to work, and the key for the gas fireplaces was missing. Also, being from bear-​free San Diego, we weren’t familiar with the ins and outs of trash in Lake Tahoe. We made a call to the TLP office and within a few minutes a young man arrived at the door. He figured out the sound system, found the gas key, instructed us on how to use the metal bear bins, and helped us carry our trash up the hill.
What I especially appreciated was TLP’s professionalism. They always followed through 100%. If I was told someone would return a phone call, I always knew I would hear back from them. If I was waiting for something to be picked up or delivered, I received an e-​mail or text when it was taken care of. A vacation should be stress-​free, and TLP’s staff went out of their way to make that happen.
Thank you to EVERYONE at TLP who assisted us before, during and after our vacation. We really could not have done it without you. We’ve already recommended your services to another friend, and can’t wait for the opportunity to work with you again.

We’ve rented directly from owners in Tahoe many times, but this was the first working with a property management company. Overall, I felt satisfied with the customer service and will go through TLP again. The concierge service is good. They coordinated with a local company to provide us with a full-​sized crib. I’m glad they offered a much better option than a pack’n’play, even if it did cost me extra to rent it.
I’m only giving them four stars because the floor plan (on the TLP website) of the house we rented indicated it had an attached garage and a bathtub in the upstairs bathroom. We have a 1-​year-​old and 4-​year-​old, and neither can stand showers. Apparently, the owners converted the garage into a game room and remodeled the upstairs bathroom making the shower over tub into just a walk-​in shower (no tub in the house). Fun times bathing those two! And my husband didn’t have anywhere safe to store his road bike out of the way besides upside down in the game room.
But the log cabin (Sweet Dreams) was cute and very nicely decorated. Reasonable enough rate when you stay seven nights. Great location within walking distance to downtown Tahoe City, if you don’t mind hiking back up the steep hill. Hot tub seemed clean. Two cruiser bikes available. Didn’t use the gas BBQ, but there’s one available too.
My contact at TLP checked in on us (via phone) a day or two into our visit, left a survey about the rental, and followed up via email afterwards to see how we enjoyed our stay. I’ll definitely use TLP again.

We rented the property known as Sequoia Ranch from Tahoe Luxury Estates from August 3 until August 10 as part of a family reunion. Although there were several serious problems with the property, I felt that after talking with the new owner, Kelly, that they would soon be rectified. I would not hesitate to rent this or another property from Kelly, she seems like a person who has only the best interests of her clients at heart and will do whatever it takes to make sure they have a wonderful experience.

One of those reviews that has taken me a while to get around to writing. Absolutely loved our stay at Big Buck Lodge. We were a group of 14 and everyone enjoyed their stay. The kids loved the bunk room and every room was comfortable. The entire place was clean. The staff was very helpful. Would recommend to anyone.

What a great vacation. Found Tahoe Luxury online. The house had a fabulous location and was unbelievably clean. The linens were nice and I wasn’t scared to lay on the bed. Also a bonus was the kitchen was stocked with soap, paper towels and a clean/​new sponge. We hope to get the exact same house for next year.

Tahoe Luxury Properties is without a doubt the best rental company we have ever used when it comes to staying in Tahoe. The main reason I say this is because you always know what you are going to get when you book with them. Quick, courteous and amazing service and every house we’ve stayed in has exceeded our expectations. Bill & Kelly Dietz and their staff are amazing in that they care about you, the client as well as their community and give back in so many ways. I now own a home in Tahoe, so I don’t rent anymore but I 100% highly recommend them to all my friends and family! When you’re looking to splurge — I’m talking $ 70−100/nt per person — on a cabin in Tahoe these guys are the way to go. The properties are great and so is the service. Just give them a call and tell them your requirements and they’ll let you know what’s available. I know a lot of people — me included — don’t like to actually talk to people on the phone these days but it’s way faster and more convenient than searching on the web. You can actually hold a cabin too while you and your friends decide. Let me tell you, after days looking on vrbo and having cabins disappear while we were deciding I was really happy to speak to Tahoe Luxury Properties.
When we got to the cabin (Moonlight Lodge) everything was expected except we couldn’t figure out how to turn on the heater for the room above the garage. TLP has a 24-​hr service you can call and a guy came out in less than half an hour to get things going. They also checked in with me the next day to see if everything is okay.
The cabin was pretty well equipped though it was missing some things for cooking — like measuring cups, spoons, etc. Seemed to indicate that people who rent here may eat or heat up food but not cook much.
Checkout was a breeze. Guess one of the things you’re paying for is not having to do all the cleaning up the cheaper cabins often ask for (no stripping beds, gathering towels, wiping counters, etc). I lost my sunglasses during this trip and when I called them from SF they sent someone over to go look for them. I never found them — long shot anyway — but I appreciated the effort.

The Treetop Lodge was even nicer than the pictures.
They left a personalized note wishing my husband a happy birthday along with a box of chocolates, bottle of wine, and a rose. It was such a warm welcome.
The master bedroom is amazing with a jacuzzi tub, shower with 2 showerheads, his and hers sink, and walk-​in closet.
I would highly recommend it.

We stayed at TLP’s Pineywood home over the 4th of July for 10 days. While the home was very nice — and kept us comfortable through our stay — I certainly would not deem it «luxury» in any way. Upon arrival we received a free bottle of wine and a folder of things to do in the area along with menus for nearby restaurants. Beyond that, we didn’t feel like we were getting any kind of special treatment.
The first day one of the toilets clogged but the TLP staff was quick in sending over a repair man. The appliances at the home appeared fairly new but were loud (washer/​dryer and stove vent) and the dishwasher left so many spots on the dishes we ended up having to wash everything by hand. The coffee maker was old and needed cleaned.
In my mind, a luxury property should have all of the basic tools for a gourmet kitchen but it really was bare bones here. Pans were old/​Teflon was missing on some. The screens in many of the windows had holes in them which let in bugs.
The carpets were kind of dusty… you could tell the house needed a deep cleaning. But again, it was a nice and comfortable home — just not «luxurious» enough to justify the rental rate.
One of the deck walls was wobbly/​unsafe too.
I would consider using TLP again if they bring down the rates a bit and spent some time deep cleaning the homes and upgrading some of the appliances and pots/​pans.

My boyfriend and I rented a home from Tahoe Luxury Properties. We worked with Jeremiah and Molly — they were very helpful and courteous. We went back and forth for a couple of weeks trying to find the perfect house to celebrate David’s 40th birthday and they were extremely patient with us and helped us get the best deal.
We were beyond pleased with our choice — we rented Olympic Dreams in Squaw Valley. We had an unfortunate incident with the sinks backing up, but they were more than helpful in getting it resolved and we were very gracious for them handling the situation the way that they did. The owner of the company called us personally. It’s rare to receive that kind of hands-​on service.
I would highly recommend utilizing Tahoe Luxury Properties services. From our experience, everyone there is more than pleasant to work with.
We will definitely use them again when the time arises and spread the word.

I have rented through TLP 3 times and always had great experience with the staff that assisted us during the rental process and the properties we rented had always been in an immaculate condition.
I had the best time celebrating my 40th birhtday with my family who flew all the way from Eastern Europe at Alpine Meadows. I did not realize how close we were to the cross country skiing center. TLP staff was also very nice to assist me for my big birthday night dinner reservations

I was fortunate enough to rent one of these grand 4 bedroom homes with a group of friends for a recent trip up to Tahoe. The house we had was beautifully furnished with tall vented ceilings, pool table, entertainment center/​room, grand living room with a fireplace and a gourmet kitchen stocked with full amenities down to even to the small details dishwashing machine detergent… imagine that!
The view was pretty spectacular too, we awakened while we watched a fresh coat of powder fall onto the trees and mountain peaks as we made breakfast before enjoying a day out the slopes in Lake Tahoe.
Definitely worth re-​experiencing with a group of friends and family, rates were so reasonable after they were split!
