My car decided to illuminate the check engine light and periodically blink the transmission overdrive light. Other than that, it was driving like its normal self… Stupid fast.
I’m quite comfortable diagnosing check engine codes and driving by the light of the friendly orange glow. But, the transmission light was new and subsequent research suggested something might actually be wrong.
Due to the fact that my transmission is «built» (not-​stock), I was recommended to come here. I made an appointment since I was in no particular hurry and the gentleman behind the counter said he would have the owner, Jeff, look at the situation personally. I also noticed a myriad of personal, signed letters on the wall from satisfied customers.
After a thorough diagnosis, I was informed that the car is working fine. There is no real transmission or torque converter problem. The engine computer is just slightly annoyed that the lockup during overdrive operation is not happening as expected. The only solution is to have the computer reprogrammed, again, but they assured me it is safe to drive and I’m good to go.
