Camelback Resort

The worst experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. Overall the place is beautiful, the water park is super fun and this place has so much potential. BUT, a good amount of the staff does not know what they are doing and is extremely young. I don’t understand how this establishment is functioning. First, when we checked in, not only was the line halfway out the door, we dealt with a girl named Alyssa (sweet, but clueless) it was her 4^th day. So anyway, she gives us our room after taking a good hour giving us one and explaining everything. Once we get to room, we open the door to people changing! They gave us a room that was already booked. So, due to all of this confusion, we go back to the desk, spend another hour with this girl to change our room and got our new room. They offered to give us a $ 50 credit for a completely ruined day. I dealt with Alyssa, Michelle and Adham during all of this. So, during this process our credit card was charged, refunded, charged and refunded and charged again. Now, I’m starting to lose my patience, thinking about everything that’s going on and I speak to the manager named Jordan. Thank God for Jordan. Finally, somebody who knows what she’s doing. She was extremely confused, sympathetic and baffled about everything we were experiencing on our vacation that she decided to upgrade our stay and give us a free extra day. Thank you, Jordan. Since we didn’t have enough time to go snow boarding or tubing that day, we decided to go to the pool and to enjoy some drinks. We’re extremely thankful for the bartenders Brandon and Rachel for cheering us up and making us laugh about everything that’s going on. Now, we are currently on our second day… They tell us they will have our room ready first thing in the morning. We call and they say, good news your new room will be ready in about 15 minutes… Needless to say we didn’t get the room until about 3 hours later. But we didn’t care, we wanted to have a much better day today than yesterday and didn’t want to make it a big deal. Enjoyed the water park and decide to go to dinner at the trails end… The girl took our order wrong. Brought out everyone’s food but mine and couldn’t even get our drinks right. We paid $ 26 for a piece of salmon that was 4 bites and rice that didn’t even cover the plate. But whatever, let’s just get out of here and go snowboarding. Snowboarding was awesome!!! We had a blast. The shuttle bus driver tells us he will pick us up at 9:15… Along with another group of 6 young girls who he told the same exact thing. We are all standing out from 9:05 — 9:45 where I am calling the hotel asking where he is and constantly getting transferred and ignored. Then, I get the girl Alyssa again, as we are all WALKING back to the hotel and she says what can I do for you! Um maybe send the shuttle bus? You have a group of 10 people walking back to your hotel due to your driver saying one thing and doing another. Puts me on hold. Picks up and hangs up the phone on us and now here I am… I’m not one to complain but this is just absurd and unheard of.
Beyond upset this is how we are spending our vacation. This place has so much potential but not with workers like these. I hope they make the changes that are needed to make this a better place.

To be honest, my initial impression of Camelback Resort was 3 stars … but easily went up to 4 stars as the weekend progressed.
Driving into the complex, the «feel» is classic Poconos in the winter, with hills lined with pine trees, and the resort building from the outside looked great.
The valet/​porter who greeted us was super friendly and polite and gave a lot of information and short amount of time.
But we went inside and it was crowded with a long line for check in. Now, I fully understand that being crowded is not Camelback’s fault, it’s a good thing for business! In fact, they handled it well with a fully staffed front desk who kept the long moving. Again, not camelback’s fault that it was crowded, but still affected the first impression.
The lobby is nice and clean, and themed well, and not tacky.
Room had that strange set up you also see in Great Wolf Lodge — clean, but there is an exposed rack instead of a closet, and the sink is in the bedroom. Weird and offputting.
Aquatopia was great (will review separately), restaurants and arcade were ok to good. Overall it was the friendliness of the staff and aquatopia pushed the rating to 4 stars. So much so that I want to go again!

When you receive a gift card to a specific place as a birthday or Christmas gift, you expect to enjoy using it hassle free. Well, this is the exact OPPOSITE case when it came to the Camelback Lodge and their «gift cards».
My parents went through the trouble of purchasing «Camelback Lodge» gift cards for my birthday and Christmas. Though thoughtful, I was weary because I am used to using «Camelcash» gift cards at the mountain, where the purchase of lift tickets, food & beverages, and services is good throughout the mountain. However, after checking the back of the card I was put at ease as it stated,
* «Guests may apply gift card credit to their room account and charge ancillary items throughout Camelback Lodge, i.e., food & beverage outlets, arcades, gift shops, etc. At check out any remaining credit will be issued to a gift card.»
Still being suspicious though, I phoned the Camelback Lodge to see exactly what their gift cards could be used towards. I spoke with a representative who advised me that their gift cards have limited use, but could be used toward lift tickets, overnight stays and ANY food and dining establishment not just in the lodge but ON THE MOUNTAIN; however they could not be used toward Arcadia or the Camelback Mountain Adventures including the coaster. Ok, great, there are multiple bars and dining areas around the mountain, plus the lodge offers several dining facilities WITHIN the lodge, including the Trails End Pub and Grille which offers ski-​in ski-​out dining and a patio with seating and fireplaces. We’ll get back to that.
Upon our morning arrival on Martin Luther King Day, January 18^th, 2016, we went to the Camelback Main Base Area to pick up our Triple Play Cards. We then inquired if we could combine the multiple Camelback Lodge gift cards into one card for easier use. The very helpful employee behind the desk advised us we would have to take the cards to the Camelback Lodge itself to do so because they are not affiliated with them. Upon hearing that, we inquired if the cards could be used toward the restaurants and bars throughout the mountain and to our surprise THEY COULD NOT. The Camelback Lodge gift cards could ONLY be used at the Camelback Lodge, NO WHERE else on the mountain and especially not for LIFT TICKETS. The good news, for now, was that they could be used at ALL the Camelback Lodge restaurant and bar facilities INSIDE the lodge. Again, no big deal, we often take breaks throughout the day to grab a bite to eat and a beverage at the bar. Being the Camelback Lodge was a brand new facility, we were excited to take advantage of our gift cards.
The conditions were excellent that day so at approximately 11:45am we decided to stop in to the Trails End Pub and Grille, located INSIDE the Camelback Lodge, to grab a bite to eat and a drink from the bar. We split some wings and had a few cocktails, our bartender, Billy, was excellent, but we were eager to get back out to the mountain as the conditions were great and it was not that crowded, especially for a holiday. So by around 12:45pm we attempted to cash out using the Camelback Lodge gift cards.
This is where the problems escaladed. Billy informed us that they DO NOT accept the Camelback Lodge gift cards in the Trails End Pub and Grille. They are a new facility and simply have NO MEANS of scanning the cards or accommodating us. So by now we’ve been told that Camelback Mountain DOES NOT accept the gift cards for lift tickets, they DO NOT accept them throughout the mountain, and now, they DO NOT accept them INSIDE the Camelback Lodge at their own Pub.
I inquired as to what my options were and Billy advised me that I could go up to the Camelback Lodge information area and possibly they could assist me. Infuriated but calm, I began my journey to the front desk information area while my girlfriend stayed at the pub so we would not be accused of walking out on our tab, which was only about $ 35 at this point. What I was not informed was that the front desk area was located ALL THE WAY on the other side of the lodge, up 2 floors and a walk through the entire hotel.

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!!! They have the WORST customer service I’ve ever encountered. We made ski lesson reservations in advance online and rented a car and drove 2 hours to the resort the day of the lessons. When we got there, they told us there wasn’t enough snow and skiing was not going to happen. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE COURTESY TO NOTIFY US IN ADVANCE PRIOR TO US SPENDING VALUABLE MONEY AND TIME TRAVELING TO THE RESORT. When I got there and complained, they they told just to fill out a complaint form. One week goes by and I hear nothing. Then I call and am placed on hold and transferred to different extensions for ONE HOUR… only to get a voicemail of a manager supposedly. I left a message and never got a call back. I also send an email to
and got no response. I would give it zero stars but I can’t unfortunately. WILL NEVER GO BACK.

I heard about this place when an employee of mine brought her son here for Christmas. My partner and I wanted to find somewhere close to NYC for a short weekend away after a tough year and this place came to mind. I was weary at first because it only has three stars on Unilocal but my employee insists that it is awesome. I didnt notice that there was a 15% off code when I made the reservation and i called customer service. They were very polite and agreed to add the discount to my reservation. There wasn’t enough snow yet to do the snow tubing and skiing but everything else was wonderful. The waterpark was amazing and because only resort guest are given access, it wasn’t too full and the lined for the slides were very short and there is something for everyone. The changing rooms and facilities were all spotless and the staff were very accommodating I booked the king room which was great. It even had a mini kitchen with stove and dishwasher which is very convenient if you want to save some money on food. If I had to complain about something it would be that the food inside aquatopia was very plain and bland and the hemisphere restaurant in the resort is a bit over priced. Apart from that I would say what I had a perfect weekend. I will definitely be back in the near future.

Stayed here two nights. My family decided to do New Years here for some reason. It looked good on Paper but this is not a place for someone who doesn’t have kids. The selling point for this place is the Ski slopes, Snow Tubing, Zip Lining, and the Waterpark. Lucky me lol, there was no snow this New years… so options were Zip lining and the Waterpark. On to the Resort.
The hotel room was quite spacious but I hate, I mean I hate bathroom’s that have the sinks place out side of the bathroom. It just made no sense to me lol. Everything felt average as far as the room goes.
On to the food options here. Well they have buffets for Breakfast, lunch, and Dinner. None of them were special in my eyes. I enjoyed the international vibe they tried to paint. Maps all around, flags and décor from all around… but the food was your basic eggs, omelettes, coconut shrimp, chicken, beef, pork, nasty pizza that was labeled Gourmet for some reason. It was all flavorless food. :(
I know that sounds harsh but you can judge for yourself.
The service was good at the resort though, everyone provided great service. Except for one gentlemen, but that was addressed :) .
I wont speak on the New years event, but I would never recommend this place for partying :).
I am sure my stay would have been much better with skiing and snow tubing being available, since they weren’t the hotel just felt as bland as the food here.
Make sure you come when it has snowed enough to have snow on the slopes ;), and you might have a 3 to 4 star stay.

Stayed at Camelback for 2 nights and went to Aquatopia water park. Check in on a Sunday afternoon was a bit slow but not too bad. The double queen bedroom was a nice size and pretty clean. The pullout couch had clean sheets. We were only a few doors down from the main lobby so it was often noisy outside with guests walking back and forth. I would request a room further away or on the third floor next time.
You can use the water parks as early as 12:30pm on check-​in day even though your room isn’t guaranteed until 4pm. Camelbeach outdoor water park seemed packed on the nice sunny July day we went so we chose to stay indoors. Aquatopia wasn’t that crowded so we were happy with our choice. The bathrooms were pretty clean, but i would expect that since Aquatopia is new. Though, for a new water park that likes to say that they’re the largest indoor water park in the northeast, I would expect more changing rooms with showers (only saw one for men and one for women) in a huge family style room. And it would have been nice to see the spinners to spin out wet bathing suits. The hotel room had the wash line above the tub but there’s only so much bathing suits will dry on the line (some of ours were still very damp 40 hours later)… Still a nice place to go with the family.

I would give this place zero stars if possible!!! The water park and arcade are great I will give them that. However the other activities can get expensive. The food options are slightly better at the buffet restaurant but subpar throughout. When you enter the lobby your expectations are set pretty high due to the fact that their lobby is gorgeous. The rooms however are very disappointing and the reason for such a bad review. We had a king bunk suite. The room was very dark and the décor was outdated. I felt like I was at a cheap motel. But the biggest reason for a poor review is that the room had bed bugs!!!

Ok this place is hands down the best place to bring your kiddies over the long winter months! The place is fairly new so the rooms are awesome and clean. The indoor water park (Aquatopia!!!) is a lot of fun with fast slides… wave pool, lazy river, swim up bar and an indoor/​outdoor jacuzzi!!! The park is open late and they have dry excursions for the kids as well when they’re nothing but water logged. They include laser tag, rock climbing, kids spa, arts and craft activities and a zip lined obstacle course type thing! There’s restaurants, 3 full bars… really something for everyone. If you don’t have any kids, who cares, it’s still a great time with a spa on the premises and the room service is quite delish!!!
They don’t do day passes you have to book a room and the prices are awesome!!! They had a special ($ 100 off a room) and we were able to get the king suite with 4 adults and 3 kids for $ 300 for the night (that includes the room and 2 full days at the water park… you can’t beat it!!! They are definitely giving Great Wolf Lodge a run for their money!!!

Awsome time!.. as my daughter and her friends said. «AWSOME!». Upon entering the compound, it’s massive and very overwhelming, but by our first night, we’ve gotten used to where everything was. Aquatopia is again, AWSOME! the best part? the man-​made beach. so relaxing yet exciting when the waves come. felt like we were at a real beach in November!
I would definitely be back for more night because we didn’t get to do all the activities. Great buffets, snack bars. We stayed in the condo unit with full kitchen. a full kitchen is a MUST I say. very quite. had the best sleep in any hotels anywhere. so quiet (not even heard foot traffic outside the door. or next door). Also, the arcade was a nice distraction for the kids while the adults did adult stuff :).

Just stayed here for a two-​night getaway with my husband and two kids (2 and 3 years old). Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The only complaint I have is that valet and check-​in took OVER an hour which when you have two overtired kids can be a huge PITA. I understand that we chose to check-​in on a very busy day (NJ Teachers Convention break); however, the staff should have been prepared to take on the large number of guests. Other than that however, my kids had the TIME OF THEIR LIVES in Aquatopia. It was great to see them smile and laugh while playing in the wave pool, lounging thru the lazy river, and splashing around the various kids’ water play areas. Who ever came up with this indoor water park in the middle of the Poconos is a genius. We literally had to carry them out of the Aquatopia each day. They also had tons of fun in the arcade area as well. Our room was surprisingly roomy and well-​appointed. We had lots of room to move around. The couch was a nice touch. Only negative is that the sink in the room was a bit awkward. Yes, the food in the resort is pricey but there is a small fridge in the room where you can keep snacks and drinks. We also enjoyed some hiking and riding the outdoor coaster since the weather was nice. Overall, a nice little getaway that the kids loved. We will definitely be back.

Checked in on a Saturday, for a stay until Monday. Saw some reviews saying that check in is slow, so I decided to arrive around 5 instead of 4. Apparently there was no need for it, check in was an absolute breeze. No waiting in line, and the room was immediately ready.
The waterpark was really great. Some things are still under construction (ie, slides that don’t go anywhere yet), but there is plenty of stuff to do. There were few lines during my visit (with the exception of the surfing, which always has a line), and in the evenings was practically empty, making it quite enjoyable to do whatever you want.
It seems that if you call the resort you can get better deals than online, so if you’re looking to stay, I would suggest doing that. Originally I was having more people come, but they cancelled so I downgraded the room before the stay over the phone, and the person was able to find me a lot better of a rate than was available online.
My only issue with this place is the food. Other reviewers mentioned this, and yet my group tried the Trails End restaurant anyway. I wish I hadn’t. Expensive, overpriced, crappy food. Come for the waterpark, but seriously, don’t eat here.

I booked a 3 bedroom condo at the new Camelback Lodge. The rate was about $ 800 a night after taxes and the room slept 14.
The room was very large and had a nice kitchen and 3 flat screen TVs. The purpose of this stay was for a bachelor party and Camelback was the perfect place to let out the inner kid in all of us.
We enjoyed the water park which is open until 10pm and has a swim up bar. The water slides are pretty good for an indoor park and we also loved the Venus Flytrap which allows 6 people to sit in a giant tube and ride down for slide at almost a 90 degree angle.
We also partook in laser tag, the 4,000′ zip line, and mountain coaster. For dinner we visited the nearby Barley Creek Brewery where we played whiffle ball, drank some good brews, and had an excellent dinner.
There was so much to do we didn’t even make it to Mount Airy Casino.

Wow! I’m not sure what’s going on in this Country with these Corporate Resorts all over charging for EVERYTHING! Buffet sounds inexpensive at $ 23.99 for each adult and $ 15.99 each child. Get ready to spend exuberant charges for the drinks like soda and coffee added onto the bill. Food was excellent however.
As per the water park, what is the theme here? A mish-​mosh of assorted furnishings. Super dim lighting in bedrooms so they can save on electric. Bring your own bulbs. Room was clean.
Parents can have a drink at their cool swim bar, however you cannot watch kids. However Our kids had a blast. All Staff was nice too!

I truly wanted to give this resort 5 stars. But in the end… I had to downgrade to 3 stars for a few reasons which are actually fixable if the resort management reads the Unilocal reviews and adjusts. To help the Unilocal readers, I’ll break down each of the areas:
1. Overall Hotel Appearance and Room Stay — 5 STARS — The resort is gorgeous and our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable enough to fit our family of five easily. We slept great each night!!!
2. Aquatopia — …5 STARS… AMAZING! That indoor waterpark was the highlight of our stay. Our youngest child loved it and seeing the glee on her face all day was worth it. The park clean. Tube rides exhilarating. Pools clean. Water… nice temperature. Play areas for kids to frolic in. Swim bar for 21 and over. Even an indoor/​outdoor jacuzzi (although…I beg the resort to make it an adults only hot tub because there were too many small children in there and teenagers thought it was funny to splash around and wrestle and ruin what should have been a relaxing time… and we found out later some of those teens worked there as lifeguards… they should have known better…)
3. Arcadia — 4 STARS — The games were fun and our kids enjoyed playing there. I’d give it 5 stars… but some of the games were a bit pricey.
4. Service — 5 STARS — My family had great experiences with the staff from the moment we got there. Someone came to take our bags from the truck and they escorted us to our room. Our room was ready at 4PM on the dot. We did have two small problems during our stay… but both were fixed fast (as in within 30 minutes of reporting the problem). I know others have posted having issues with the service… but honestly, the staff help was a highlight of our stay.
5. Arcadia Adventures — 1 STAR — TOO DARN EXPENSIVE! Adventures were safe and fun for the kids… but our wallets were hurting so bad after we needed to slap band-​aids on them. My advice for the resort… either bring down the cost or just go on and include the adventures as a part of the package with the room price.
6. EXTRAS AND SPECIAL DISCOUNTS — 0 STARS — If there was anything that bugged me about this vacation, it was the so-​called discount book of $ 200 was NOT a discount for anything. Instead of buy one get one free for different activities… it was more like… here…spend $ 50 first and we’ll give you $ 2 back. So, none of us indulged in the Spa, Kiddie Spa, Pottery Painting, etc. And the kid craft activities during the day…$ 10 per kid per activity… um. after paying nearly $ 500 per night… are you crazy?
7. Restaurants and Food — 3 STARS — The food was fine. And there were lots of places in the resort to either buy food or sit down for a nice meal. We did not eat there every night because there were plenty of other restaurants in the area. But the food we did eat there was tasty. Again… prices were pretty high ($ 5 for one cupcake…$ 4 for a cup of coffee) but we expected them to be. Restaurant prices are high at Disney, Universal Studios… pretty much anywhere you go on vacation.
8. Fitness Center — 0 STARS — If you are used to a regular workout every day… you are at a loss here. The fitness center is PHENOMENALLY TINY for a resort this large. My husband (a triathlete) decided to skip the center and just go for a run up the trail on the mountain and do body weight exercises on the grass instead…
Would I return here? Maybe as a 1 day/​1 night sleepover trip. My kids (particularly the youngest) did like it. My husband and I have traveled more and our conclusion is… there are other places with a bigger bang for our buck. But, if the resort owners make a few key changes (lower prices in key areas, ditch the lousy discounts, etc.), this could be an award-​winning vacation spot.

If possible I would give this place zero stars because of the customer service’s initial impression. When you say check in time is at 4, other hotels will have your room ready and available by 4. This place has no idea what they are doing. I can guarantee your room will not be ready by the check in time of 4 o’clock. Our family, and 4 other families, were waiting in line to check the room status and make a complaint. Waiting 5 – 10 minutes is acceptable, waiting over an hour is not. If you cannot guarantee a 4 o’clock check in time, change it to 5:30 because I can bet that if you stay past your check OUT time they will be real quick to charge you.
Watch out for the guy named Jesse with the receding hairline. Complete asshole. Told us that we could get a refund and leave if we wanted. The manager was at least nice enough to realize that they were in the wrong for not having the rooms ready and apologized for the guys rude behavior. Hopefully he teaches his staff better customer service. My family and I, probably the other families waiting in line to complain as well, will not be coming back to this place.
Camelback should take another look at their business ethics and practices if they want to be on par with other resorts.

I should’ve stayed at Great Wolf Lodge… They say check-​in is at 4pm but didn’t check us in till 7pm. The manager Jordyn should be fired ASAP. Worst hotel manager EVER! Service is terrible at the front desk!
The staff actually tries but their hands are tied because of Jordyn, the front desk manager. She should be a prison guard– not a hotel manager.
Other than the front desk, all the staff are nice and friendly. It’s sad that such a beautiful place has such poor management in place at the front desk. I honestly wish I had a better experience and didn’t have to write this review– I much rather be enjoying the pool than standing at the front desk writing this in front of the check-​in counter.

Great concept but there are a few important things that need work before this can be considered a great resort.
1.room service — no breakfast menu is a horrible idea, also when you do order room service, it’s in very poor taste to deliver it in plastic bags with plastic cups and utensils.
2. Valet– we used the valet button to call down for our car only to be told by the receptionist that we needed to go outside to the valet stand to retrieve our car
3. Housekeeping– we were gone all day to Camlbeach and when we came back later that evening our room had not been touched.
I know this resort is very new and kinks are still being worked out but if you’re charging everyone over 300 $ a night you’ve go to make sure the resort lives up to the hype. I would have given two stars but my kids loved the waterpark and arcade so much I added the 3^rd star since the kids are really what it’s all about. I hope in about a year this resort will have everything running more like a 4 – 5 star resort.

First let me state this place has great potential. We were able to check in early and experience the fantastic indoor waterpark. We rented a cabana, but this process (along with all the other processes) took way too long due to inexperienced staff. I actually had to leave 2x to get staff to come to the cabana. This pool-​side service needs to improve… along with offering HEALTHIER eating/​snacking options for families.
Good start… but a few suggestions for the management: fresh fruit and veggie bar or snack stations with unfried foods or snack sandwiches, better sinage and help to cabana areas, iced-​coffee options, and more engaged helping staff.
If your traveling with kids… bring fresh food snacks and drinks… to save $$$$.

First off we get an email a week before our stay stated that since some of the resort wasn’t complete we were going to receive a 25% discount on a future stay… We should of cancelled right away. Turns out what some of what wasn’t complete was…2 of the major water slides… A whole building and a restaurant… What also didn’t work was the ability to charge things to your wrist band. Which was a real inconvenience carrying cash in a waterpark, the credit card machines down in the arcade and the wifi. (We’ll come back to that all later). When we arrive we notice that there is HEAVY construction going on in the resort. Cranes, bulldozers and other heavy machinery all over the place, some of Which made it real dangerous just to drive around. When we checked it and the front desk assured us that we wouldn’t be disturbed by it… That is if your up by 730am because at 753. the cranes and machinery were right out my terrace. When you arrive they give you a coupon book that gives you $ 200 worth of savings. The book was supposed to include a $ 50. Resort credit. Well we noticed ours was torn out. We went back to the desk to ask what happened to the coupon and they said that they tore it out because that since the resort wasn’t complete they took it upon themselves to tear out the coupon and reduce our rate from 249 something to 149 something. We were like that’s all fine and nice but if your reducing the rate because the resort wasn’t complete… why are you taking stuff away from us? No one had an answer… determined to make the best of it. My 7 year old was thrilled with the Flow rider and the wave pool… my 16 year old was less impressed and bored. Food at the park was horrendous and expensive did I mention having to carry cash around? The swim up bar is a step into the water and sit in it bar. Oh by the way did try and talk to a manager one of which was named Zack (i forgot the other ones name) they were to busy to talk but I left my number and I’m still waiting for him to call. Especially after we got the bill and saw that they charged a resort fee when questioned what that was… it was for the WiFi that didn’t work… and maintaining the water park… with the major slides not working… this place is shameful
