Journey At Pechanga

This place is such a hit and miss. Live so close, and the views are so pretty, so we go every so often, one time we will get good food, the next, blaaa, have had a few family get togethers there in back room, this last Christmas, literally half the food was bland or not even good, the others ok. This last Sunday, we ordered the tacos and carne Asada quesadillas, 2 plates were plunked in front of us, looked less appealing then Taco Bell, burnt tacos, greasy cheese, didn’t bother with management, as they were busy. For $ 15 a plate, expect a bit better presentation, an orange slice or something!
Let’s see what next visit holds for us!

Had breakfast here this morning with a good friend. He had the Huevos Rancheros with a side of bacon, which he completely devoured. I chose the 3 item egg beaters omelet with mushrooms, tomatoes and cheddar. I selected the fresh fruit instead of breakfast potatoes and an English muffin. They added two silver dollar hotcakes which was a nice surprise. My only disappointment was that the tomato filling were microscopic in size and quantity. Come on chef, put some tomatoes in my omelet as ordered! Otherwise everything was superb. Great waiter, super friendly and attentive. Beautiful café, spectacular views of the golf course and surrounding mountains! Plan to return soon, I’ve heard their burgers are excellent. Don’t think I’d ever go back to the Pechanga casino café, there’s no comparison whatsoever. It’s been disappointing the last few visits. The golf course café is light years better!

This course is always in fabulous shape, so I dont mind the 1 hour drive from San Diego. I played it this past weekend and its my 3^rd time this year already. I just wish I could have gone into the bar, they always have weddings in the bar area so it is usually closed on weekends. We finished in 4.5hours a record… last time I was there we tee’d off at noon and never finished it got dark and I still had 3 holes to play.

I almost don’t want to rate this because it was so fabulous. Perfectly prepared steak salad wth a yummy sauce atop an arugula salad. Paired with the local almond champagne. Service was superb. Beautifully decorated restaurant overlooking the 5 star golf course. Perfect! Pricing excellent. My new Casino restaurant fav!

The Journey At Pechanga is one of my favorite golf destinations in SoCal. It has some very challenging holes with breathtaking views from the top of the course. The people at the course are friendly and give the same great customer service as the Pechanga casino and hotel employees. Was a little disappointed that when I made my tee time they didn’t mention that they close the range before noon on Tuesdays for maintenance work. We only had time for a few warm-​up hits but we still had fun. We also enjoyed the Native American historical elements sprinkled throughout the beautiful course. Didn’t enjoy the hot-​shot neon clad Asian A******* hitting up on us when we were clearing a green. Being disrespectful in such a sacred place will come back to you.

I went here for a company party, and was a bit late and they already put the food away, they were so extremely sweet and caring they brought me and my boyfriend out a plate with everything on it, brought us champagne and water and dessert. They made us feel important instead of just saying, oh well you were late. They servers went above and beyond. I never write Unilocal reviews but I appreciated them so much that I had to show my appreciated of writing this review. Thank you servers at journey’s!!! Oh and I was welcomed and directed inside the party by some very kind workers as well. :)

Played 9÷6÷15. The golf course, Journey at Pechanga, I give 3.5 stars. Not worth $ 135 but if you can get a deal through
or the like for around $ 90 a round like we did then you you’ll feel better about your experience. As far as the staff inside the club house, specifically in the pro shop, I give 1 star. This 1 star rating is from the gestapo way they go about about enforcing their «no outside alcohol» policy. They’ll ask you point blank, right when you check, if you have any alcohol in your bag and then search and confiscate any alcohol they find. I had 4 beers in my bag that i told them about when interrogated at check-​in. They say they’ll hold on to it and give it back to you at the end of the round. In our case we did the free replay that came with the
deal and didn’t finish until 7pm. When we got back into the clubhouse it was locked and no one left working could get into the room where they had our personal property. They gave us the option to come back to BFE (Temecula) the next day to retrieve or confiscated personal property, yeah right.
This leads me to the free replay deal they entered into with
. After finishings or fiist round at 2:00 pm and looking to replay, they said the earliest we could get back out was 3:20pm. I asked, why so long, do you have booked reservations until then? They said, no but they like to leave it open, presumably for the nonexistent paying twilight players. So we had a long lunch while watching no one tee off when they finally came and got us at 3pm.
In conclusion, I wouldn’t play here again if they paid me. Every course in the country has a «no outside alcohol» policy but none that I have played used gestapo tactics of interrogation and search and seizure. Everyone I know who likes to have acouple beers on the course sneaks a couple beers in their bag in an effort to save a few bucks to reduce the overall cost of a very expensive sport. Lots of better courses closer to civilization where you don’t have deal with the penny pinching antics of the Pechanga Indian Reservation casino.

The cart girl Cierra will go above and beyond. We are happy to have to have met up with her on the front nine!

I played here on a Sunday with 7 buddies using an UnderPar coupon for unlimited golf. The course was beautiful and in great shape, but the golf staff was terrible. I have played well over 250 golf courses in my life from the best to the worst, and I have never experienced anything like what happened the day we played. When I arrived in the morning, I was putting my shoes on in the parking lot and the cart attendant came out and asked if he could take my clubs. I said sure, thanks. Then he saw I had a cooler in my trunk and asked if he could take that too, so again I sure. I go inside to the pro shop to check in and met Kevin, who seemed less than happy to see us. He wasn’t rude but not pleasant or friendly at all. After checking in I went out to the cart area to get my clubs and head to the range to warm up. Our bags were on carts ready to go but my cooler was missing. I asked the kid who took it where my cooler was, and he said its in the pro shop office, that there was beer in it and they don’t allow outside alcohol. I asked how he knew there was beer inside and he said that he looked. I looked at my friends shocked and said why didn’t you just say so in the parking lot instead of taking it and then confiscating it. He had no answer. So I went back into the pro shop and told Kevin that my cooler was there somewhere and I wanted it back. He replied you can have it back after your round. I said I had other things in there I needed and he said, there is nothing in there you need and you can’t have it back. I said there was an apple and snacks too and I wanted them and would put the cooler back in the car. He said again in a very rude tone, nope you can’t have it back until after the round. I was dumbfounded! Instead of having a big argument over a cooler and risk getting kicked off the property I let it go.
Once on the course, the cart girl was non-​existent for the first 7 holes, once she did arrive she was nice but the beer selection was awful, which she acknowledged. If you like water beer such as Coors Lite and Bud Light you’re in luck, the premium beer was Newcastle.
Once we finished our 1^st round we wanted to play a 2^nd in the afternoon. Keven told us to check back with him at 1:50 that at this time it was open but if someone else (I assume meaning a new paying customer) booked the tee time then they would bump us.
Fortunately that didn’t happen and we teed off at 1:50 for our second round, but not before having more trouble with the golf staff. We wanted to play from the Copper «back» tees on this round. The starter immediately wanted to know why and what our handicaps were. I told him we were all single digit players and he said «there is a big difference between a 2 and a 9 handicap». I explained to him we were all around 5 – 6. He was not happy and said we would not have fun and that we had to keep up or else. I explained we would be just fine and knew how to keep the pace of play. Two of our friends didn’t play again so we only had 6 players and we went out as 2 threesomes. They put a single out last minute just before we teed off which was fine. As our 1^st group was teeing off I see the clubhouse manager come out of the clubhouse and watch us hit our tee shots on #1 (the steps from the clubhouse are right a the base back tee the 1^st. He seemed very interested and not happy, I presume to make sure we could play good enough, but didn’t say anything,
During our second round we got backup up on the 6^th tee box, as our 1^st group was waiting for the single they put out! There was nobody behind us so we figured if a single player couldn’t play faster than a threesome, that we would just play the rest of the round as a six-​some, which we did. Not only did we keep up we played through another foursome at the turn, A Korean group who look a bit shocked when they allowed us to play thought and we had 6 players. We assured them we they would not wait for us and they didn’t, we left them in the dust.
The course is great (not worth $ 250) but $ 80-​$ 100 definitely, just beware of the grumpy staff. As for playing the Copper Tees (7200+yrds) it is not that difficult, and does not play near that long as many of the shots are way down hill and down wind. There was only one of two shots where a 220+ carry was needed but if you can do that it is not that tough.
The bar and restaurant were great and the beer selection and staff were much better too!

Course is nice great challenge management and workers are rude and obnoxious. I will spend my money at Morongo golf instead

Top notch! Great staff. Great practice facilities. Course is challenging – not for beginners, but it’s immaculate! Some really interesting holes.

Don’t play this course right after the greens are punched.
My wife and I played on May 28, one day after the greens were punched (for non-​golfers, that means that thousands of holes have been punched into the greens, which adds life to the greens but it makes putting incredibly difficult right after it happens). Because we bought the rounds through the hotel’s special golf package, rather than through the golf course directly, the hotel reservations people didn’t (or wouldn’t) tell us that the course’s greens would be pretty much unplayable on the day we wanted to play.
We complained to the pro and every golf course employee we encountered that it sort of sucked that we weren’t told that the greens would be in terrible condition, but other than a «sorry, Jack,» that’s all the relief we received.
Other than the greens, the rest of the course appeared in pretty good shape.
We probably won’t return.

Absolutely love this course. Fairways and greens are kept up nicely. You get some amazing views from the back nine. Plus you can go hit the casino after your round or do some wine tasting up the street.

Nice course but it was a painfully slow round. We waited on almost every shot and just imagine, we played on a THURSDAY.
We teed off around 8:00 am and had a group of 20 of us golfers following another group of about 12 golfers.
At the turn (10^th hole tee) the nice starter in the morning turned into the Golf Marshall ‘devil’. He told us to speed it up, and told us that we were 58 minutes behind. We told him we are keeping up with the other groups but to no avail.
Later on in the round the same Marshall followed us from the 12 — 15 holes reminding that we were behind. That was really unnecessary after all, we did PAY for the round ($ 90.00).
The WORSE part was that on the 15^th tee, he told us to skip the 16^th hole and move on to the 17^th hole. What an ass!
My advice: ‘Don’t Play here… the Staff sucks, and maybe the Pechanga Indians don’t care except for taking your Money $$$!!’

They have the best breakfast and great service. I will definitely be coming back and recommend it to others. Prices are actually really good considering the location.

Love the course here. Not sure how the weekends are, but played a round here on a weekday and had a wonderful time with the hubby.
It’s in great shape, perfectly manicured, the GPS on the carts were 2^nd to none.
Very challenging course with the winds, elevation changes, and slopes.
The only downfall imo were the number of mowers running on a good amount of the fairways and fringe that day. Minor compared to the positives of the day, just a a bit noisy at times.

So first let me say I did not go golfing I just came here to get something to eat. This is a great spot if you want a nice quiet place to eat and enjoy yourself. This is so different from eating inside the casino because theirs no smoke, its quiet and you have a great view of the golf course. I came here for breakfast and it was pretty good I was impressed. The service was was good no complaints there and the prices were decent. I will probably be back sooner then later.

The restaurant is inside the clubhouse and has a nice view of the golf course.
On a nice day its nice to sit outside on the deck, and on a cold day its nice to sit inside by the fire pit.
This is a restaurant where you don’t have to feel like you have to golf to be there.
Food is good, and if you are an iced tea drinker you have to order the iced tea. It is brewed with hot water over crushed ice at the table.
Love the patty melt, the New York Strip is a great steak, and they make great pancakes.
Journey is a great place for breakfast or lunch.

I came here for a business lunch before I headed to San Diego for an evening event. This restaurant is located in the golf clubhouse.
I ordered the baked salmon adobo w/​rice and beans (mixed) — $ 21. The salmon was just OK. It had a nice crisp to it, but the adobo flavor didn’t really come out. Adobo means the dish should be salty, sour, peppery and aromatic. The rice and beans were just OK too. They really didn’t have much flavor. Lastly, I thought the price was kind of high for what I received: 3 Stars.
The ambiance is very nice. The clubhouse is very classy. There is a fancy private room, and the view from the clubhouse looking out to the golf course is fantastic (pic): 4 Stars. The service was OK. The waitress was nice, friendly and efficient: 3 Stars.
This restaurant has a captive audience for golfers before and after a round. However, I would not go out of my way to come here. There has to be better places to eat with all the wineries close by.
