Great beers on tap, and nice little snacks to go along with. Any place that offers sour beer gets my vote, and their Kolsch is also very tasty during the warm summer months. Beer pretezels(not made in-house, but local) are a nice companion. Also, they have a cask night, so beer lovers rejoice!

What a fabulous place to eat and hang. Our waitress Brittany was the very best. We could not have asked for anyone better. She recommended the truffle pretzel bites, and they were one of the best things I have ever had! We will keep coming back!!!

Stumbled upon this place on Instagram. The food looked delicious and I’m a beer lover so I immediately Unilocaled it. They had great reviews and what an amazing happy hour. So I set a date with my girls to check it out. Friday afternoon my bestie, my cousin and I selected outdoor raised seating and were immediately greeted by our server Jeremy. My girls are very girly so they didn’t know much about beer so he walked them through the beers that would suit them best. He also brought out some samples. We all did the $ 5 dollar flights and ordered everything from the happy hour menu. We were above and beyond satisfied. When he wasn’t around the other staff made sure we had ice cold water and anything else we might need. We had a great first experience and plan to go back to explore the menu. Thumbs up! He even took pictures for us!

My husband been wanting to come here since they open but we never got a chance to go… Since its Father’s Day it’s his choice… Well he picked the right place. The food is awesome I had the Spicy Shrimp and Grits and it’s perfect… Husband got the Flat Iron Steak and he loves it… All the beers tasted good and the complimentary beer taste is pretty good too… And to finish the meal we got the Chocolate on Tap it was perfect to end a pretty awesome meal… We’ll definitely sure be back here again…

This place is my go to for any occasion. They are generous with beer sample. They help pair beers with your food selection. The service has been great everytime. I have come here three times and everytime I have felt great about the whole experience. The food is always great and reasonably priced. They have a great selection without being overwhelming. I have never had a bad experience. I highly recommend this place.

This was my favorite dining experience while visiting my family this summer. They give you samples of any beer you’re interested in trying, while also giving you samples of beer that pair well with the food you ordered as you eat. Lots of beer, and it was all great. The duck fat pretzels are LITERALLY to die for, as is the truffle dip that comes with them. When I saw that the table behind ours didn’t finish theirs, I almost reached over and grabbed them :( I got the chipotle pastrami, which was exactly as described. Nothing too fancy, but definitely good. My sister got the mac and cheese, which comes in a huge portion, and she was unable to finish it but said it was good. My dad got an open face turkey and bacon sandwich, also which couldn’t be finished but was deemed delicious. Portion sizes here are a little large, but you’re definitely paying for quality. We wished we hadn’t been so full, otherwise we would have checked out one of the beer-infused desserts: P

Was seated in section 25, waitress came over, mumbled specials, took our drink order. An iced tea and a water. We waited well over 20 minutes. Front of the house manager kept looking at us, but no one came over to take our dinner order. We decided to leave, but stopped at the bar to pay for our drinks. Unacceptable customer experience.

Went for dinner. No one at reception area. Waited and finally after five minutes waitress asked in if we were helped. She went to clear table. In next five minutes four other waitresses asked if we were helped. Obviously no one is in charge. Meantime another couple stroled in, made a circuit of the restaurant and then sat down at an empty table. No one challenged them. At that point we left. Plus I don’t know why this restaurant insists on keeping the front door wide pen when the wind is howling and temperature is 60 degress.

Overrated. Oh wait Unilocal doesn’t take one word reviews. Well damn. Okay so it gets points for atmosphere. At lunch hour you’ll see plenty of professionals line the tables. Personally I don’t care for the bar style seating, but it makes sense for their business model. The service was great and the server was attentive and nice. I don’t recall having to ask for anything, it just showed up in front of me. What didn’t do it for me were the beer and food, which is important in a restaurant/brewery. Beer samples, excellent are followed by what the hell is this crap?! The food looked presentable, but was forgettable. I knew I would regret getting their Cioppino but did it anyway. It was the SD take on an SF specialty and that’s what drew me in. What I didn’t expect was overcooked rubbery seafood. Yes it’s a seafood stew, but done right I wouldn’t have to look like my dog eating peanut butter. The broth was just spices, if it indeed there was seafood stock present it had been annihilated by someone’s inability to properly season the dish. Step away from the cumin! Lucky for me the company footed the bill, and yet I can’t help but feel horrible for wasting 26 bones. Most of it stayed in the bowl and I eventually grabbed a second lunch. This place is a step up from BJs Brewhouse, which isn’t a compliment. The menu lacking originality is indicative of these types of chains. Hipsters ruin everything!

One of the better dining options in the area. Not too crowded for an early dinner, we didn’t have to wait, always a plus. Large and clean location with plenty of seating and easy parking. Service was great, they have a very nice staff who really knows not only all about the beer, but also about the food. Love their made in house veggie burger, love the brussel sprouts. Passed on beer this time, but they have a huge selection of unique offerings and offer flights and samples as well. Prices are fair as the quality is great and the food is nicely presented. Huge menu with so many great sounding things, I’ll have to come back for more!

Having been to several Karl Strauss locations, I can honestly say I’ve had some of the best food and service at this one. I may be a bit bias since I live here, but I really just appreciate having a great drinking and dining option so close to home. Now, I’m not drinking much beer these days but I always enjoy a solid IPA like the Tower 10. I would have ordered this all day, but their newest small batch of Singularity and Black IPA were on point. Always try the small batch, always! Our waiter was friendly, happy, and helpful in guiding our decision making process. Drinks came out fast along with refills, taster samples, and water. After a few drinks started off with an appetizer of stuffed portobellini mushrooms. Yum! These are great for sharing between two people and light enough to dance on your tastebuds without overwhelming your pallet. Our entrees were equally delicious and yet I forgot to take a picture! I ordered the Spicy Curry Tofu and the wife had the Blackened Salmon. If you love curry, this dish is a must! The flavors are rich, the texture was perfectly creamy, and the spice level is perfect, even for the seasoned curry enthusiast. If you are new to tofu, don’t be shy, this is one of the best dishes in town! Oh, and my wife’s Blackened Salmon was really good, too. Seasoned perfectly, the tender flakey fish laid atop a bed of freshly sautéed string beans and carrots. The fish was topped with a wonderful watermelon and feta mix. I don’t know what they call it, but it was refreshing and delicious. Dessert was great too! We shared the Beeramisu and loved every minute of its mildly sweet and delicate flavor. It went great with the porter and wheat beer samples, too! Definitely a must try if you love food and beer pairing.

This place was recommended by the staff at my hotel and did not disappoint. Great selection of beers and they do flights. Seating outside, huge bar to sit at and hightops to tables to sit at. Tons of people and lively environment. What a refresher for the area. The staff was great and knowledgeable. They didn’t mind splitting the check. Had the beer pretzels which came with dipping sauce. Great pretzel and the cheese sauce was a little spicy but yummy. They even gave a free beer sample to compliment the pretzels. Main course was the Pesto Chicken Pasta. Was a little spicy but that’s in the description. Can’t wait to come but with an empty stomach and try some more. The desserts sounds good too. And guess what. they gave another beer sample at the end for a palette cleanser. What a classy place!

Karl Strauss is always great but boy does this place get busy! Especially on Friday nights. You know, everyone wants to go out and maybe have dinner and drinks before a movie. Its a great location, but it does attract lots of people. Beers are always great. I stick to the Windansea Whit mostly. Last time I came here, I got the Shrimp and Grits. So delicious and flavorful. My bf got the Farmhouse Burger and it was huge! Really, you probably don’t need an appetizer if you order this burger. Its really delicious although I couldn’t get a full bite of every ingredient the first time. It comes with pork belly AND egg. Yumm!
