Just moved in around the corner and needed a new gym to work on my fitness. I recognized the name LA Fitness and decided to stop by. This place is definitely in a transition phase, but still an all-inclusive gym. Definitely not too expensive either. What really shines are the people here though. One day I received a phone call for a free fitness assessment with my new membership. Normally I would have dismissed this, but Jenica was so inviting that I couldn’t say no. She was very cordial and at the same time extremely professional. Knew what she was talking about and really got me excited to call this gym my new home in Tempe. I cannot wait to implement some of the tips she taught me into my workouts. Thanks for everything, Jenica! I’ll see ya tomorrow.

I agree with the other reviewers about the business being in transition. There are a few signs from 24 hr fitness still. However, I’ve seen improvements in the property. The locker rooms are clean. The equipment is maintained and the staff is friendly. I had been a member in the past when it was 24hr fitness. I started with a guest pass as well, good for 2 weeks. My fiancée and I came in to try the facility for the trial period and to attend a spin class. We were met by a trainer who asked if I was interested in the membership. Like another reviewer, I was interested in using my guest pass first. My fiancée has her membership covered by work. We attended the spin class and I enjoyed the workout. Although not expected after every class, the manager Reggie met us after with fresh fruit! We discussed potential membership. I expressed interest in just using the guest pass. Reggie asked what they could do to earn my membership. I mentioned the deterrent was the $ 99 activation/paperwork fee. He offered to lower it to $ 50, so I accepted. Since signing up, I’ve enjoyed classes and workouts out at the other LA fitness locations too. I’m getting married in 2 months, so I signed up for 12 personal training sessions. I’ve only used 4 so far, but I LOVE my trainer, Courtney. She tailored the workouts to be productive while I travel and pushes me just hard enough. Left to my own devices, I can slack off, so I really enjoy the level Courtney motivates me to strive for.

This is the most unprofessional gym I have ever stepped foot in. I went there yesterday to try out a cycle class with the free 3 day pass as I just moved to Tempe and wanted to go to a new gym close to home. The gentleman was very pushy with getting me to sign up. I have never done a cycle class there so I repeatedly told him that I wanted to take the class first and then I would decide(like any normal person) he was not happy but agreed. I then realized the cycle class wasn’t until Tuesday so when I was done working out upstairs just on the typical machines he greeted me as I was leaving. He asked what I thought about the class(mind you there was no class on Monday and he never corrected me) I told him I must have misread the schedule so there was no class. I told him that I’m not sure la fitness was going to work because they only have cycle once a week. He then said okay no worries goodnight. So I came in today to try the cycle class since I hadn’t been able to do it on Monday. I was greeted by a new gentleman who told me I could not take the class without signing up for a membership since he didn’t think I would join if he let me take the class. He told me he did not care that I had a 3 day pass. He was yelling at me in front of guests as they walked in. He told me that they are salesman and it’s okay to pressure people into buying memberships because that’s their job(what a joke). I couldn’t believe this man was speaking to a guest like this. After arguing with him for about 10 minutes he let me take the class. It was a great class mind you. I will never ever step foot in this gym again because of Reginald Riley and I encourage all of you to never buy a membership with him. He was one of the meanest people I have ever met. Rude to a guest who is looking to join the gym he works for. No excuse for his words or actions. He should be ashamed and fired. I will be calling corporate to relay this horrible experience to them.

Former 24 Hour Fitness. It has an identity crisis right now. The building carries both signs, and the bulletin board inside says Q-The Sports Club. That’s the name of the company that built the place. This is the sloppiest club acquisition I’ve seen. It makes you think that they are still not sure what clubs to keep. The swimming pool has been drained for a couple of weeks. No other signs of work, but there is a City of Tempe work permit posted But a month and half, and you think they would have at least have the signage taken care of by now.
