AAMCO Transmissions

They advertised on the 640AM radio that they will read error codes for free. When I went to get their help the other day, the guy sitting in front of computer goes: «well I got a couple things going on and I don’t have time». Then he said he’d check my engine error code for $ 80… I will never bring my car to this place again. Don’t commit on something that you cannot keep!

**BEWARE** This place is a scam. You’ll be sorry if you bring your car here! Gene is a true con man. He tried to convince me to get A LOT of extra work done on my car because, in his words, it would be dangerous to drive. After checking with a trustworthy mechanic shop, I found out that everything he said was bogus.
I don’t write a lot of reviews, but I feel the need to warn anybody who thinks of coming here. DONT DO IT!

if I could do zero stars i would. i don’t know how this shop hasn’t lost their license because they did a major bait and switch on me. They had my car for 2 weeks and charged me over $ 2,000 for work they never did. I found out the hard way when my car broke down and the other mechanic showed me the parts that Gene «supposedly» replaced. Run don’t walk away from here and do NOT trust your car to them. They also drove my car without my permission — put over 100 miles on it while they were «working» on it. TERRIBLE! RIP OFF CITY!

Its really refreshing to have a positive experience at an automotive shop. Gene was great. Very honest and straight forward for my 2009 Honda Accord. He followed up with me after to make sure my car was still running great! Techs were great and punctual. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Thank you AAMCO T.O.

Since the first time I took my car here, I have been greeted by name. They are very friendly and don’t do anything that doesn’t need to be done. They have even saved me money by doing something less expensive to fix a problem that would have cost me a lot more. I have taken my car there for the last 2 years and highly recommend them.

I had my Porsche 911S towed in. it was smoking and I was afraid to drive it. turned out to be a broken part that has to do with oil. I don’t remember the part. they showed me it and also the tail pipe which was definitely burnt and black. Anyway, it was fixed in two days. They said something was clogged as well. They fixed it and it is a lot faster and more powerful now.
I was quoted $ 1,400. when I got there the bill was just under $ 1,300. I kept my mouth shut.
They said bring it back in a month to check it, but since it is running great, I figured I would do a review instead.

I posted a review here but some how its got deleted. This place is horrible. I took my car in to get the air conditioning looked at. I receive a call telling me they have to take the air conditioning apart for 250.00 to diagnose the problem. I told them no and took my car to another mechanic who fixed the problem for 70.00. This place is a rip off and I see from the comments I’m not the only one who has an issue with this place.

These guys tried to charge me for repairs they had not even confirmed. When I demanded my car back they tried to make me pay $$ for work not authorized (they took my transmission out of my car!)
These tactics are unfair and may be illegal (I’m not a lawyer) — there are reputable shops around — don’t let these people rip you off!

Holy cow, I wish I had read the reviews on here before I too was ripped off big time by the crooks at AAMCO.
I signed for a free estimate and yet 2 days later I was told it was going to cost 4300 to fix my transmission. I denied the work and asked for the car back and Don says it is unsafe for me to have it back and I need to let him do this work. He will have it done in a day or two. I still deny the work and ask for it back and then they say it will be $ 795 to have it back because it is there time and labor to it back together.
I was never told I had to pay $ 795 to have my unfixed car back prior to me denying the work. They stalled and stalled and said they lost a part, they had to order special sealant, and then Fri 2 hrs prior to closing after having my car all week they say sorry the dealer sent us the wrong part and we can’t get the right part til Monday.
I never agreed to them ordering any parts for my car.
Monday they said they were busy and coudn’t get to it. Tuesday at 3 they call finally but they wouldn’t budge an inch with the 795 fee and I was forced to hand them all my money to have my broken car back.
Thanks for NOTHING!

Worst place ever! Avoid Aamco N. P at all cost. They (gene) rips everyone off.

This place is the worst! Had to call police to try and get my car back, after they charged $ 4,000 for a job they NEVER did! Transmission is NOT in the car, maybe they lost it???
Hope you read this before you sign anything, inspection fee $ 1500 really!!!

Unfortunately though I was initially satisfied my 2^nd experience with this group mirrors some of the reviews below.
After My transmission was replaced in February I was asked to bring it in after I drove it about 1000 miles.
I did and advised that there was smoke and the smell of gas a few days after I picked it up but then nothing. They did a test drive and said everything was fine.
I brought it back to them in May 90 days later because the emission light came on and the smell of gas was still occasionally occurring.
I believe THEY created the damage when they changed the transmission in February and that is why I was smelling the gas (raw fuel).
They give you an approximate time of a couple hours to diagnose but called to say they needed to finish the following day. Then they called with the amount to do repair $ 1231… and say it should be ready later that day.
They called 20 minutes before they close for the day and leave a message the car is ready. I called in to say I could not be there that quickly what time are they open so I can pick up in the morning? The guy on the phone Jim (I think he thought he was being funny) says you did see our sign that if cars are left more than 2 days there is an additional storage fee… ha ha ha NOT.
Very unprofessional and very sleazy!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I took my mazda in and at the beginning of the week and they told me to leave it with them they will try to diagnose it… so i did. The very next day I get a phone call saying that they have diagnosed the issue and asking for authorization to continue… I gave them the ok to continue. All in all they informed me every step of the way on what was happening with my car, they are very professional and really know their stuff I would recommend them to someone who is having transmission troubles

When my car broke down 400 miles from home, I called on these guys. I explained my situation and was assured that I’d be taken care of. I then had the car towed to them, left them the keys, and my number. Over the next two days I never got calls from them, but instead had to do all the calling. Each time it was as if it was the first call – a different story about when the car would be diagnosed or what was wrong with it. I got a complete run-​around, long enough so that with a holiday weekend coming the whole repair was delayed.
Eventually, I had to rent one-​way car back home, wait a week, fly back down one-​way, arrange transport from the airport to the car, then drive the car home. All of this could have been avoided and the car fixed within in a day or two if I’d taken the car somewhere else. I would have saved myself time, money, and aggravation.
The only time I got any attention from the manager was *after* I arranged to have the car towed somewhere else, I guess because he didn’t want me to write a negative review…

Katey, you «might» be a friend of Gene’s or Marco, this place stinks.
Jeremy, after they did work on my VW, I wasn’t happy with it and took it to Neftin VW. They told me the transmission was badly installed, Aamco then informed me VW didn’t know what they were talking about and that the problem wasn’t the transmission but he was 99.9% sure that it was the car computer and they could replace that for just $ 800.00.
I asked him what if he was wrong and rather than saying «Obviously we would reimburse you for our mistake» he informed me that I would have spent 800 bucks for nothing.
Also when he first brought it up I said I couldn’t afford that, without skipping a beat he immediately asked me «How my credit was?»

This place is terrible! Had new transmission installed two years ago, and now it is not working again… will not stand behind work. instead trying to sell un-​needed services… bait and switch… owner is rude and tries to bully you…
