Beierle & Beierle

This is a top notch dental office. I have seen Dr. Jan & Dr. Joe & they are both amazing. The front office is extremely courteous & helpful as well as the rest of their staff. They are the absolute best! I couldn’t be happier with my choice to go there. I highly recommend them!

Five Star Service! Competent and kind year after year. Both the Dentist and the hygienist will spend time with you to answer your questions and make suggestions to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

I went to the office for my 1^st visit on 4÷4÷2014 around 1pm and was asked whether I wanted to reschedule the visit because the hygienist they scheduled for me had to leave early. Since I had a long out-​of-​town trip scheduled for that week, I told them it was ok to keep the appointment and if she couldn’t finish the work I would come back again. The hygienist Melba spend a lot of time chatting with me, we had laughs. However, she only cleaned several teeth on the bottom and then said she needed to bring me back again. I said it was ok but asked whether the second visit would be counted as a separate service. She said no, it would be counted as one since she didn’t finish the cleaning work. After she left, the rest of crew including the dentist Joseph took x-​ray, checked my teeth, and occasionally I would be asked about unfinished cleaning work, I explained to them that Melba was in a hurry to leave and asked me to come back again.
I went back on 6÷24÷2014 at 3:30pm. To my surprise, Melba totally denied it was a continuing cleaning work from the first visit. She said my teeth tartar was too strong so require two visits. I didn’t want to argue with her since I strongly believed that the dentist office had all the records, such as she left early on that day and dentist saw my teeth after and also x-​ray can prove she didn’t finish her work, so I or insurance would be fairly billed later. Melba finished cleaning work (for both up and bottom teeth) in 30 minutes. I was on the road by 4:30pm.
On the second day (25^th), I called the dentist office and explained to the receptionist, and requested the dentist to investigate this situation to avoid billing twice for the same cleaning work. On the 27^th, I received a certified letter from their office suggesting me to find another dentist and transfer my record in 30 days. I was very disappointed.
There are a couple of things I want to point out: 1. I don’t go dentist office for cleaning very often. I usually do every 2 years since I don’t drink coffee and barely eat any sweets and I don’t have any decay. So my tartar level might be heavier than most of people according to Melba (I don’t know whether this is true or not… none of my dentist or hygienist have given me such comments before and neither of them had requested me to pay two visits for one cleaning).
2. Dr. Joseph and his team are very nice. I heard a lot of good words about their service. Unfortunately, my teeth cleaning experience at this office isn’t good at all.

It’s rare to find a truly good dental practice with doctors, hygienists and staff who all treat their patients with care and consideration. That’s why I continue to use Drs. Beierle and Beierle for myself and my daughter despite having moved out of the area.
I had no idea other dentists have turned their practices into day spas, as Todd M. claims. What silliness!!! The important thing about a dentist is the level of skill applied to caring for the patient’s teeth. In this regard, I rate both Dr. Jan and Dr. Joe as the best I’ve ever been to. I have had a wide variety of procedures done by Dr. Jan and the hygienists; all have been exceptional experiences.
Look no further than Beierle and Beierle for the best care in the Conejo Valley!

it is unfortunate that Unilocal decided that of all of the outstanding reviews for this dental practice, the one they choose to showcase is from one frustrated patient who was actually upset about a miscommunication and not the care he received. i always try to remember that there are two sides to every story.
i have been seeing dr. s jan and joe since i had teeth and i have always found their staff to be competent and friendly. they always are sure to tell me my diagnosis and then let me make an informed choice about how i am going to take charge of any problems that they may have found. fortunately, i have never needed extensive dental work because i am proactive about getting regular cleanings and check ups. prevention is the key, people!
the last time i was there they had awesome glasses you can wear to watch a movie while they work on you. they also have headphones if you prefer to listen to music. they recently upgraded to digital xrays, which are better for the planet and easier to see because they can blow them up for the untrained eye to see what they see. they also have the most outstanding staff. i actually get excited to see my hygienist because she is so sweet and friendly. and finally, you get TWO doctors for the price of ONE because dr. jan and dr. joe cross check each others work and collaborate to make sure i have outstanding dental care. they also use a great, local lab for their crowns, implants, and verneers, which come out beautifully and natural looking and they do not skimp on materials. not made in china, folks.
there is a reason Beierle & Beierle have been serving this community for over 30 years and that is quality care from people who care. todd m.‘s experience is absolutely NOT the standard of care for this office.

Ok, Todd M., you must have been having a really bad day when you wrote your review. I couldn’t disagree with you more about this dental practice. I have had nothing but excellent service and work done by Drs. Beierle and their team. I look forward to going to my appointments — no fear, anxiety. .. which is a rare thing for me and dentists! My first visit was for an emergency and they were so kind and helpful. .. I couldn’t be more pleased and would recommend this dental group to anyone and everyone, and HAVE!

I was looking for a «5-​star» dentist, and my research led me to Beierle & Beierle in Thousand Oaks. It’s out of the way, but that’s a small sacrifice for clean teeth and good service. Service is my number one criterion. So, I did some research on Google and found B&B. As it turns out, I’m a terrible researcher. (Next time I’ll use Unilocal!)
Overall, Beierle & Beierle is a three star dentist. They advertise that they have televisions and music to listen to while you get your teeth cleaned. The television was ancient by today standards. (It was only barely picking up an old re-​broadcast of I Love Lucy as I got my x-​rays done.) Through the static, I could make out closed captioning, but it only worked for one or two characters. «Oh, it’s old.» They laughed. «It just does that…» I guess it was distracting enough. But, who needs distractions for x-​rays? I got my cleaning done first, and they didn’t even have the television plugged in. Oh, and the music they were talking about was lightly buzzing through the overhead speakers. Not unlike elevator music — nothing like the high tech dentists that my friends have been raving about in Studio City. (They get widescreen television, personalized music, massaging chairs…) Like I said, I could have done my research better.
All of that aside, I don’t need frills when I go to the dentist. I’m fine with my iPod and a good, courteous dentist. Beierle & Beierle were «okay» in that department. Not the best I’ve had, but not the worst. They don’t talk too much at me, did their job adequately. All in all, they were tolerable.
Now, here’s the part that angered me: after my cleaning, they convinced me to come back for a «deep cleaning.» The only catch was that they have to do it in two 2-​hour sessions. I explained that it would difficult for me to block out so much time on two days since I own and operate my own business. They understood, and worked with me to do it all in one day. Sure, they’d like to do the deep cleaning right away, but they’ll push it back to accommodate my busy schedule. These guys are awesome! They are so nice. Oh, but wait…
I come back to B&B a little over a month later, and the first thing they say to me is, «Sarah wants to talk to you. Have a seat.» (I thought they said Sharon.) So, I sit down with Sarah, and she says, «I’m sorry, but we can only do half of the appointment today.» I was shocked. I’ll spare you the majority of the details, but a lot of my speech involved the word «but.»
“But, you said — «
“No, we don’t book appointments over two hours.»
«But, you made an exception. That’s why we made the appointment so far out.»
«I don’t see how that’s possible.»
«But, you cleared it with the hygienist during my last appointment.»
«I know, but the hygienist that is here today won’t do it. It’ll interrupt her lunch.»
«But, that doesn’t make sense. Why didn’t you book it with the same hygienist then?»
«It shouldn’t have been a problem because we’re only doing one side of your mouth.»
«But, you cleared both sides with the hygienist last time I was here.»
«I know. She isn’t here today.»
«Couldn’t you have called me to tell me?»
«I didn’t think it would be a big deal.»
«So, you knew you made a mistake?»
«No, we don’t book appointments over two hours.»
«Then, why did you call me aside right when I came in? You knew you made a mistake.»
«I’m sorry, but you must be mixed up.»
So, that conversation was circular and frustrating. I found my blood starting to boil. I admit to raising my voice a little. I was mad. Worse yet, I was helpless! I’d just wasted most of the morning. For nothing!
Ultimately, I just wanted them to work with me to make it up to me. That’s what good customer service is — and that’s why I came to Beirle & Beirle in the first place! Well, they never even tried to work with me to solve the problem. Instead, they kept saying «Sorry» (but as a placating tool, and not as a true apology).
Eventually, the entire office started banding together against me. It was an army of mindless teeth-​cleaning automatons attacking me verbally over a situation that they weren’t even a part of. It was clear that Sarah had made the mistake, and all of the evidence pointed to it… but they wouldn’t listen.
So, I asked for my records and left. I’m never going back. If I can prevent one person from making the same mistake, I’ll be pretty satisfied. There are more than a few dentists on the same block that B&B are on. I strongly suggest that you go to one of them instead.
