Jacob’s Hair Studio

Michael has been doing my hair and he does a wonderful job! He fixed my color that another salon did (it had brassy highlights & looked coarse) and it looks great and is really soft. They staff is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Jacob’s Hair Studio.

I’ve struggled my whole life with bad skin and acne. Whitehead, blackheads, cyst, you name it. I was recently referred to Ketrina Harp who works inside Jacobs hair studio. She specializes in acne facials. I wish I would of found her sooner! She’s amazing. My skin has improved drastically. Not only does she take the time to make sure she gets all the junk out of my face but she enjoys her job and always provides the best service. I’ve had a lot of Facials done throughout my struggle with acne however I’ve never found anyone that has actually helped my skin improve long term. She’s very knowledgable and has helped my skin clear up, no more black or whiteheads. She’s also fair in price. I highly recommend her. I cannot express how happy I am with my results !!!

I can honestly say that I have always left with a smile on my face :) Jacob is a master at his craft… he literally works magic when it comes to color! They are wonderful! Alondra did my make-​up and hair for my wedding and she did a magnificent job. Prices are decent and the owner (Jacob) is also on sight doing hair & walking around checking to see if every customer is happy. I will definitively go back.

They f up my hair. All i wanted was a root touch up. My hair was blonde. Next thing I know it was brown and green. My first time at jacobs and i will NEVER EVER return. PS. It took 5 hours to ruin my hair.

Everybody at Jacob’s are so talented and friendly. The owner Jacob is always smiling friendly, and ready to chat. Shelby the receptionist is very sweet, always fits me in, and calls to remind me. Last year, Michael did my hair for my wedding and it turned out amazing. The color was so rich and beautiful. I’ve been going to him ever since. He literally transformed my dry, uneven mess into the healthy, shiny hair I have now. Michael is very nice, professional and a great stylist. The salon itself has a positive, friendly vibe and is well kept. I always look forward to getting my hair done with Michael at Jacob’s Salon. This weekend Alondra is going to do my make up for a wedding I’m in. I’ll let you know what I think.

So I’ve been coming here forever and just realized I haven’t reviewed it yet! All around great salon! Friendly staff and reasonable prices. I’m a weekly hair wash blow dry with Gina and I’m always happy with the result. They really care about the customer and have a great vibe here! I would recommend this salon all.

LOW CLASS HAIR SALON… PICTURE YOU SEE are of employes hair they do on there free time ‚(they do each others and post pictures on here (they have posted new pictures 2 years later of people they have done there hair).they get prank calls I COULD HERE THEM ON THE PHONE AS I SAT AND WAITED FOR MY DAUGHTER (the staff), if your a regular thats great for you but a walk in they WILL MESS YOUR HAIR UP all the comments are from regulars or employes !!! your low class worker «MICHAEL HERRERA «bleached out my daughters hair she is only 15 years old HOW DARE YOU ! 2 years later not a word form this so called SHADY salon my daughters hair had to be cut off to the middle of her back .I spent money to try to save her hair with coloring it, deep conditioners, DONT BE A WALKIN HERE AT JACOBS HAIR STUDIO!!!

I went to Jacob’s based on the Unilocal reviews. BOY did I hit the salon lottery! I called to see if I could get an appointment the same day and they accommodated me with no problem. Very friendly on the phone without attitude.
I was given an appointment with Jackie. She was very friendly and kept open communication with me on the hair style that I chose. (I brought 2 pictures with me for reference). She was very professional and made me feel very comfortable and very confident that she understood what I was looking for in my hairstyle. She also had a great personality.
I went in with very long, thick, curly hair that really needed some cutting and walked out looking like I was ready to go to the red carpet! Seriously! She did that great a job! I pretty much went with a short shag (shoulder length) and she really knocked it out of the ballpark! I am very, very happy and will definitely be going back to Jackie. The pricing is fair as well. $ 45 for a cut and blow-​dry. Everyone at the salon was very friendly as well. So happy with my new haircut!

I was in my best friends wedding in May. The bride set appointments for her and the bridesmaids to get their hair done by Sara Keyworth and makeup done by Alondra Gonzalez and Jessi Vought. Let me just say that they all did an AMAZING job!
I think I was stopped by all 175 guest and told my hair and makeup were impeccable. People were asking to take pictures of my hair and asked who did it.
The ladies made the process so easy breezy that we laughed and had the best time getting ready.

Located in the Rolling Hills Plaza in the corner with plenty of parking, this is one of the only few places that I trust my hair with. Jenny Poon has cut my hair (she is only there certain days of the week though) and has always done a fantastic job. She is always very honest and wants to make sure that you are happy with your hair cut/​style when you leave the store. She is much more concerned with how you feel afterwards than how much money she is charging you. Honestly if you are not happy with your hair cut, you can always come back and she (or any other stylist) will recut it/​fix it for you for free.
Jenny & Jacob Poon are so warm and friendly (along with their amazing staff), you will want to come back here again and again because you won’t find another hair shop like this.
The studio is nice and clean, has several hair styling stations, clean restroom and clean floors and also has other services available… a great place to stop by to get all glammed up before heading out on for a night out. This place really sets the standard for how other hair studios should be.

Just moved to Torrance and found Jacobs on Unilocal.
I called the studio and got Jackie on the phone she was great and very helpful. She pointed me out to Allondra who is in charge of Hair and make-​up for Brides. I went first a couple a times to visit cut my hair, a try-​out hair style and got some facials with Cynthia. First time visitors get 20% off and for try-​out on wedding it is 50% of the hair due for the wedding, Cynthia did my facials and she is also a very nice and lovely person.
Allondra did a incredible job. I love my hair, my make-​up everything! My bridesmaids were also done at Jacobs and they all looked fantastic everyone looks beautiful on my wedding pictures!

I LOVE JACOB’S!
My four sisters and I have been clients at Jacob’s since 2001. Michael is my stylist and he is amazing! He makes sure my hair looks great and stops me from any bad hair decisions I want to make. HAHA. I’ve also had my hair cut by Jacob and Jenny. Jessi is my esthetician, who is absolutely wonderful and has helped me with all of my skin problems. The staff has a tremendous amount of talent and they are super friendly. Overall, the prices are very reasonable and I always recommend Jacob’s to my friends and family members.

I needed a new hair stylist so I went here b/​c of the Unilocal recommendations. Jacob is a sweetie; he takes the time to listen to his clients, especially the new ones, and gave me a lot of tips on how to make my fine, wavy hair look good. He did a great job cutting and styling it and while it’s a little curlier than the way I normally style it, I didn’t feel like I needed to rush home and fix it. Everyone was friendly and I was offered a glass of water. They even gave me a 20% discount! I’m glad I listened to my fellow Unilocalers on this one.

I’m rating only the Esthetician/​Make up Artist Cynthia Catipon. I went to her because her facial was a birthday present to me. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me she’s high in demand so it did take several months to book her because sadly I was trying to see her during prom/​wedding season and she only works a couple days a week since she freelances otherwise. But it was worth the wait. She’s a miracle worker with her hands.
I got the 75 minute Classic European massage ($ 75 value). She relaxes you and listens to you from the beginning. She customizes your facial based on your life, recent traumas to your face/​body and traveling. She gave me a calming type facial because I travel so much and had just a lot of time in the sun recently. She also gave me good advice on how to take care of my face in between visits with her and even on how to recover from my burned back LOL. Yes I was told I could prevent it with sun block LOL.
I loved her voice it was extremely soothing. She described the first couple treatments on my face as she massaged me into a little coma, while the room was slowly filled with hot steam and sounds of the ocean waves lapped in the background. J The service even included an upper body neck and shoulder massage which was amazing. She even throws in an extra massage on legs/​foot or arms/​hands. She recommends the legs/​foot and I took it. You have to try it for yourself. You forget how tired you can get.
I’m booking her for a quickie 30 minute (for $ 35) and my gf for the classic for her upcoming wedding in October. We are determined to look flawless for the wedding! The salon offers other traditional hair/​color/​etc services as well but I cannot rate them yet since I haven’t tried them. I recommend you book Cynthia for your next much needed facial! Just make sure you book it in advance. J

My sister has been a client of jabobs hair studio for about 2 yrs now and always speaks highly of them. I went there last weekend with my sister and ALL the staff is upbeat & extremely friendly and most of all very welcoming. Prices are definitely reasonable and affordable. I have an appt with them in a few weeks to get my hair done and im excited :)

I hate looking for someone to cut my hair. I was forced to find someone new. The last guy was Asian but would muttering under his breath in a language I could decipher. I don’t think he was talking to me because he never waited for a response. Then on top of that he would say thank you and sorry every couple of minutes. He would move my head to the left and say «Sorry thank you» and a couple of minutes later he would do and say the same thing but to the right. Then he would mutter something and all this time he would be cutting my hair too short. I had enough so I unhappily had to find someone else.
Ok, I am kinda picky (and cheap). First and utmost I needed someone that knew how to cut my Asian hair. One time in science class we looked at hairs under the microscope and my hair looked like it was on steroids compared to my blond and brown hair classmates — it was twice as thick. Not only that, it was twice as straight and to make matter worse, if you cut it too short I got this Alfalfa (of the little rascals) thing going. Oh yeah, I also only want to describe how I want my hair cut in just a couple of sentences using basic adjectives — long, short, front, back, sides etc. I’m not into discussing or analyzing my hair nor do I want to talk about hair trends or hair styles. I basically want someone that can read my mind then cut my hair the way I like it — Jacob is one of these guys. I come in sit down, I say long in front or short in back. He says «I think we should cut it this way …» I say ok and we are done. The next half hour or so we can talk about just about anything else and believe me Jacob can talk!
Ok, so Jacob met all my expectations except for the cost. He’s not cheap but then after reading some of the other reviews he not expensive either. Jacob runs a great crew at this shop. They, like Jacob, are friendly and upbeat. All my cuts came out just right (even the next day) and I have not seen any of the other customers come out with a funky do. The only downside is Torrance bakery, that was a few doors down, closed its shop — no more chocolate chews after a cut. That’s almost like not having a cigarette after sex… ok I don’t smoke but you know what I mean.
