Dave and his crew have always done a good job for me and are very fair, and reasonable in their rates. They are always accommodating, helpful and informative. Bring you car here for tires, wheels and repairs. You will be happy you did.

Just got my wheels done on my is250. In my opinion performance plus prices are always better then the competitor. I inquired about some 19″ MRR wheels and they were ready to install the next day!
Dave, the manager I believe is always helpful when i come here. Always experience great customer service here when dealing with him.
Aside wheels and tires. They do alignments and general auto repair as well. One stop shop. Check them out you won’t be disappointed.

I been going to David Fox and his partner Jose’s place for many years since the mid 90’s, for tires.
The shop itself is nice, they can get any tire and are good about price matching and scheduling. Parking is kind of tough at times since it’s a popular place.
I’ve never used their labor but i’ve done alot of tire changes there over the years, I brought and bought tires from them and they treat you the same. While my favorite technician retired, the team is experienced and careful. In the 30+ tire changes i had for every car my family has owned since 1996, i had 1 problem with wheel balancing and David’s team resolved that quickly and easily in 2015 and it was resolved by adding new weights and re balancing the tire, probably a wheel weight fell off via an impact. .
Sales wise its low pressure, i typically call david, he gives a fair price and quotes me for labor and tax as well. Its not always the cheapest place but tires are low margin anyway and he always tries his best to make the best price for me.
Coupe tips,
— Call, make an appointment, give dave or jose your budget for tires, they’ll work with you they carry everything from chinese tires to ultra high end large sizes and wide sizes of the best brands.
— Ask for a quote, do a little research too, know your brand and size and tire type you want. If you don’t know its okay dave’s super conservative but can also get you the right plus and stretch tires.
— Come on time for your appointment this place is very busy and there’s little down time for the techs.
— Bring your wheel lock and any locking cap hardware (old school japanese wheels use these alot)
— Save any hardware you don’t want to get misplaced like custom wheel stems like Volk or BBS
— Know your recommend tire pressures and ask them to set it to that
— Tip the technician before they install your tires, trust me it helps.

Friendly and helpful service. Comfortable and clean lounge area with free WiFi made the wait a little less painful.

Best service ever, talk to Ramiro or Dave, they’ll hook you up. Been coming to their shop for many years. Any wheels and tires, if they don’t have them, they’ll get them for you usually next day. BESTEST prices. Their new show room in their new shop is gorgeous, not to mention the Sweet 69′ El Co Frame Off project in the show room.

Absolutely the best place for tires & service in the South Bay! Great prices, the owner helped me out and didn’t try and sell me a thing.

They have great prices, helped me buy the tires I needed for my Honda Civic at the lowest price I could find. The service is great. Dave offers free tire rotations for customers who purchase tires from Performance Plus, and also fixed the nail in my tire for free!

Wow so I went here to get my oil changed. I’ve actually come here a few times but I’ve never left a review. The guy at the front desk is so sweet!
I know nothing about cars and I usually get the run around at car shops! These guys don’t play that.
When I come in they help with what I need and don’t try to get an extra buck. I just feel like this a business with integrity, and I am so happy to have found this place!!!

Incompetent and shady business.
Symptom: Low thumping noise on the front passenger side tire. The thumping and grinding noise gradually became more pronounced. Steering wheel vibrates sideways when driving 65 MPH or faster. Moderate and uneven tread wear, but nothing severe. Shaking the tire has a «give»
Mechanic’s assessment: Tire wear and misalignment, Shot axle, hub & bearing wear, or transmission (???)
Why you should avoid this place: They insisted to get the tires changed without eliminating the other possible causes. To their pressure, I changed the tires and asked if that fixed the issue. Their response: «that should have reduced the noise». It was a yes or no question. I then drive my car and it took me less than a second to realize that the noise was 100% still there.
Nothing will get solved by trying to escalate with a shady business, so I took the car straight to my mechanic. He spins the tires few times and takes out a stethoscope, and in less than 5 minutes he says it is either the bearing or hub/​bearing assembly. The next day, my mechanic replaces the hub/​bearing and fixes the issue completely.
Hindsight is ²⁰⁄₂₀. I googled symptoms and it was a dead-​on for a bad hub/​bearing.
To summarize:
1. Tried to upsell by insisting an option that did not fix the issue
2. Mislead me into thinking that the problem was resolved. Borderline lying.
3. Did not try to isolate and fix the issue. Rather, they pushed me several options to choose from and I picked the one they insisted. This reflects not only their unwillingness to take responsibility but also shows their sheer incompetence to a commonly known symptom.

Got in at 8am, out at 9am. Straightforward wheel alignment job, $ 70. Dave is friendly.
It’s a bit confusing where one should park. Don’t go past the open gate to where the service bays are. Instead, park upfront where the wheel displays are, go in to the store. They will write it up there and take it back to the service bay.
Clean and comfy waiting room, Free coffee and wifi, and TV with a customer accessible, remote.

My 2000 Civic would overheat every few days and especially when idling. I came based on the Unilocal reviews. After waiting 1hr 15min In the waiting room waiting to see what was wrong (three people were waiting ahead of me) they said the radiator needs replacement @ $ 260. We stood in front of the car looking at the radiator and I asked where the leak was but he couldn’t find it… That didn’t give me any confidence so I left. I took it to another place and it took only 5 minutes to get it fixed for $ 10! It was only the broken radiator cap. I’m not sure if they honestly overlooked it or tried to charge me $ 260 for a $ 10 job. Like doctors, I recommend getting a second opinion on car repairs.

Came here after discovering a piece of metal stuck in my tire. Initially called for a quote on the tire thinking I’d need a new one but after telling them the situation, they told me just to come by and they’d check it out for me. By the time I drove it to them the piece had fallen out. Nonetheless they brought the car into their shop and checked for leaks and told me that the metal hadn’t punctured and that I was good to go. Not only did they charge me NOTHING for all this they also saved me about $ 350 by not having to buy a new tire (run flats are stupid expensive). Couldn’t thank them more and would recommend to anyone!

Needed some brake work done so I called a bunch of places. this is where I got the most professional response, a reasonable price, an accurate quote on how long it would take. These things are important to me and I found this establishment excellent. while I waited I looked at tires and found they have good selection and price as well. I will definitely be back!

I live in San Diego but my usual mechanic didn’t know what was wrong with my right rear drum. My mechanic took a look at it twice before I came here to Performance Plus. Per recommendation of my uncle, I stopped by Performance Plus because my rear drum was making a loud thumping noise every time I would brake. Dave and his guys adjusted my brakes and now I can only occasionally hear the noise. He didn’t even charge me because he couldn’t fully diagnose the problem! What an honest guy! No one seems to know what’s going on because two different mechanics have looked and haven’t found the problem– at least Dave helped me by adjusting my brakes and made the problem less of a problem.
I would definitely come back because I know that Dave is honest and will do good work! Hopefully I’ll eventually find out where the sound is coming from!

Dave Fox is extremely nice and very attentive. He would come in and keep us updated on what he was doing with our car. This auto shop is a hidden gem in Torrance. Extremely reasonably priced and the place is clean, airy and organized. I will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

Came in on a Tuesday around 2 PM and purchased 19×8.5 (F) 19×9.5 ® Niche wheels for my 2014 Honda Accord. Dave was very accommodating and patient with us as we walked around the shop. He was very helpful in giving us advice for wheel looks on our accord. He called the warehouse and our wheels made its way from the OC to the South Bay. Although the staff finished after hours, Dave and his staff didn’t seem irritated or annoyed. I even called the shop after 7:30 because I had a question about our purchase and Dave was polite and informative. Great customer service!

PP always has competitive prices for tires. When I lifted my Jeep, I came here to get 35″ tires (Toyo Open Country M/​T). I had been looking at another brand and they were taking for ever being shipped from Japan. Dave suggested the Toyos and got them very quickly and installed in no time. I also love the fact its not a big chain store and that is why I came here years ago when a chain store ordered a tire and it took forever and after a week or so of waiting for it I canceled order and came here and they had the tire the next day.

I purchased a set of Falken tires and XD series rims. The rims and tires speak for themselves. They look amazing. I was helped by Dave, during my purchase. The price was within reason and the labor was included in my quote. I dropped off my truck at approximately 9am and was told it would be ready around 4pm. Of course I arrived early to pick up my truck. I waited around for two hours before my truck was ready. I’m not quite sure why the delay was so long. I literally was one of the first appointments in the day, and ended up being the last customer of the day. The facility itself is nice. Lots of options and a well stocked showroom. I brought my truck here based on proximity to my house and because of the reviews. I only wish they kept their finish time…

Have been coming to Performance Plus for about 20 years when I had a Porsche 911 and they were recommended by a fellow Porsche owner in the Southbay. Have been coming ever since. Dave who manages the store is a great guy and absolutely honest. I had my MBZ serviced at Southbay MBZ and they told me I needed new tires. Took it to Dave and he said I am good for another 3000 — 5000 miles! Which other tire store will not want to sell you new tires if you told them you need replacements!
Dave is such a classy guy! Highly recommended if you need tires, alignments and general auto work.
