History

Established in 1997.

Since 1997 South Bay Gold has been one of the top gold buyers and bullion dealers in southern California. However, SBG’s roots go back to 1987 as a jewelry manufacturer and wholesaler of precious stones and metals. Today, we are Jewelry Store, Coin/​Bullion Dealer, and Gold Buyer & a Refiner. Approximately two years ago, Finley’s Jewelers join our family of businesses. Established in 1924 & with their great reputation, we realized that they will be natural fit to join us. On 2013, Coin Store USA was launched as our first eCommerce site offering coins & bullion coast to coast.

Brian C.

Manager

Brian is the manager of South Bay Gold in Torrance. He oversees the operations for production and delivery of custom jewelry orders, customer inquiries and specializes in rare coins while running the bullion trading division.

An avid collector himself, he enjoys educating people in the history of coinage as a hobby for fun and profit. He has extensive international marketing experience in the media and electronics industries for both private companies and government.

My fiancé just bought me an amazing engagement ring from Jacob and Sam at South Bay Gold. We went together and Jacob waited on us. He listened to us. He took in consideration my style and our budget before showing us any rings. His boss Sam checked in on us and gave us an incredible deal on a beautiful ring. We are both so happy. We will return in the future for any jewelry needs and if we need to trade any older pieces in. They also customize pieces and design their own. Absolutely stunning!

This was my 2nd visit because I wanted to get a few estimates. The gentleman that helped me was friendly and professional. I was trying to sell a gold chain and he gave me the best price out of the 3 businesses I visited. The whole transaction took about 5 minutes and I was out of there with cash in had. Had an excellent experience selling a ring (gold) to this store. They were very pleasant and respectful. I had sold a piece of gold to Valans on PCH/​Crenshaw three weeks ago. Valan people were good too but they paid me much less than what it worth (They pay around $ 10 per each gram of 18 ct gold). I found myself needing to sell another piece this week. Valans was closed so I had to find an alternative. Found SBG on Unilocal and they were the only open store at the time (it was Saturday 5:40 pm). With SBG, they paid top dollar ($ 12.75 per each gram of 18 ct gold) and based on my experience with SBG, i am never going to sell to elsewhere.

Visited several locations trying to get a ring re-​sized, everyone being ridiculously overpriced the search continued and I stumbled into South Bay Gold! Sam and the team there were incredible, actually taking the time to look at what I needed done and pricing the work accordingly and reasonably. They did the work ON THE SPOT and took the time to keep me entertained with jewelry shopping as I waited. Most impressively, you could never tell the ring was manipulated. It’s perfect! ABSOLUTELY TOP-​NOTCH * This morning I made my second trip to sell pieces at South Bay Gold. Although the first visit was good… today was great!
The gentlemen operating South Bay Gold are professional, courteous, and most importantly, HONEST.
The shop is beautiful and immaculate. Filled with SPARKLING jewelry & gems, which will dazzle you through the spotless, well-​organized display cases.
The jewelry on display, which is primarily designed and fabricated in-​house, is made with impeccable care, quality and craftsmanship. These are not fly-​by-​night scrap buyers. They are looking for quality and, rightly so, they scrutinize every piece they buy. They have no issue paying a fair market price for quality pieces brought in.
Another added value is their creative-​thinking. Whether your looking to sell something more obscure (not for spot value), or have interest in having a custom piece designed, the gentlemen at South Bay Gold happily share their time by listening and doing extensive research on your behalf. They have phenomenal design capabilities. I have zero doubt these artisans not only have the ability to create your exact piece to specification, their creative minds, in conjunction with their innovative process and extensive knowledge, will take your ideas to the next level.

I agree with Trisha, Angela must have had a bad day. We walked in there a few weeks ago with a silver commemorative coin set and a few other items. They gave us over $ 60 more than what we were quoted elsewhere for the set. I did have them check a few other pieces of jewelry, but they informed me prior to the testing that they would be scratching it which I was okay with. Mike, Samuel and Jonathan are all very nice guys! Samuel and Mike are extremely knowledgeable and honest. Needless to say we went back a couple more times. I won’t go anywhere else from now on!

The only thing I can tell you is I took some 14k gold chains and they paid what their website says they were paying per gram.
One piece had some small diamonds and they offered to pop them out and give them to me, or they could pay for them. Mike also explained how much they were worth and how much he could give. I took the money.
No matter where you go, you must inform yourself as much as possible. That is the only way you can keep from getting ripped off, which has never happened to me here.
Don’t be lazy, and DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Okay poor Angela must have had a bad day as I can’t validate anything she said. Jonathan the security guard (yes he does have a name) had amazing customer service. He went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and definitely made time fly. I had gone to AAA and gold guys and they both offered me less than half of what sbg gave me.
Mike… amazing, funny, smart and personable. BFM i would recommend them to all my friends and family and have already started ranting and raving to all my friends.
I really hope you all come straight here. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else. I do understand you can’t please everyone (Angela) but check the stats! everyone happy but her

Went here first because of all the great reviews… saying it was a bad decision is an understatement.
The whole experience was just horrific.
For starters, I received the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. On arrival we were not even greeted and when I approached the counter the guard had a less than friendly demenor. I told him was interested in selling my jewelry and he clumsily dropped my rings on the floor… that wasn’t such an issue as I’m sure it was accidental.
Anyways, Mike told him to just have it tested before anything and that seemed pretty standard to me, but I soon learned what they were doing was absolutely wrong.
They took my rings did some tests and brought them back telling me what I had. When I saw the rings I noticed when they tested the rings they ground off some of the ring. I nearly died.
Then when Mike started telling me what he thought they were worth he acted as if I was insulting him. He essentially told me my diamond was not really worth much to him as he usually deals with much larger diamonds and he said my diamond was an «accent diamond». Granted my diamond isn’t 2 karats, but I think every customer should be treated with respect and not like they are some nuisance.
Anyways he offered me $ 111 for two rings… essentially my diamond ring was only worth $ 66 to him.
I was too upset to say anything about the damage he had done to my jewelry at the time, but I will surely take the necessary actions to make sure this will be rectified.
Also after nearly dying, I went to another jeweler; he told me THEY DEFINITELY DAMAGED MY RINGS that was unnecessary. He offered me a more reasonable price.
I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND

Came across this place due to a friend’s recommendation as well as to get my feet wet when it comes to investing in gold and silver. It is located across the street from the Del Amo Fashion Center. It is attached to Lindberg Nutrition on the right hand side of Hawthorne Blvd. South of Sepulveda Bl. in Torrance. (Bank of America customers have access to an ATM on that same side) Plenty of parking available as well as a private lot. This building is very secure due to the nature of the business. There is a gate leading up to the stairs (they will buzz you in). An armed security guard is constantly watching like a hawk. The selection of coins, bullion and jewelry is impeccable. The knowledge from the staff is amazing. I asked for pure silver coins and they had what I as looking for. As far as metals go they will buy from or sell to you based on the market price. There was no pressure to buy anything you didn’t feel like buying. Pricing is reasonable for many items here. My friend and co-​worker did the right thing by turning me on to this place. Highly recommend to anyone looking to buy coins or jewelry.

Was just in here a few minutes ago to see what type of metal the ring I have had for years was. First off the showroom was simple yet very beautiful. The jewelry in there was, well i wanted everything. They let me know my right was 18k gold and have me $ 100 for it which was very fair in my eyes. Wonderfully sweet lady that worked there made it very simple :)

I have been a customer of South Bay Gold for years. I have purchased jewelry here, sold jewelry here, and had jewelry repair work here. I like dealing with Sam most. Brandon is okay and extremely by the book with no room to negotiate. Bryan, I feel is a little bit car-​salesmanish… Maybe it’s his booming intimidating voice, I’m not sure I’m being fair to Bryan, but it’s just my perception. Sam is very gentle with his approach and negotiations. Anyhow, South Bay Gold has always been the most fair in pricing when it comes to sizing rings, or fixing jewelry for me. To purchase jewelry, I will only deal with Sam. To sell jewelry, it really doesn’t matter which of the gentlemen you deal with. Gold prices are just what they are.
I like to have my rings sized here most, because I haven’t been ripped off by these guys. They try to keep the gold weight approximately the same if they can, or will give you back the scrap.
If anyone has a better place, I’d love to hear about it. This place has been my best find yet.

When you walk in to this location you are not greeted and you get a bad vibe instantly. Shady people like them screw America up. I advise not to go here

Private lot. The building is located attached to the Lindberg Nutrition. Entrance is on Hawthorne Blvd. and the lot is behind the place.
Selection:
After hitting all the major shops in the mall (Kay’s, Morgan’s, Kevin Jewelers, Macy’s, etc.), we found this place on Unilocal.We were in search of a male engagement ring and weren’t finding what we needed. The places in the mall were also really over budget ($ 350+) and the selection was limited.
This place was PERFECT. Not only did they have a great selection of rings of all different types (silver, charcoal, black, slate, etc.) but they were at a great price (paid $ 109 for a ring). If they don’t have your size, you can put an order in and they said it’ll be ready within two days. We found a great ring and couldn’t be happier.
Service:
Customer service was great. Very accommodating and not pushy in the slightest! Highly recommended.

Hmmm, maybe I got lucky compared to the other Unilocalers but I sold South Bay some gold maple leafs and got Spot — they looked up the current spot price online and wrote me a check! I buy and sell coins and bullion as a hobby and am pretty careful about who I deal with and I would sell to them again if I was in the area. Most dealers do try to scalp you going in and coming out of a bullion position so I was pretty happy with my trade here. Like I said, maybe they changed their pricing policy since the previous Unilocal!
I did not buy my maple leafs from here, however, so cannot vouch for their «ask» prices. As with any major purchase or sale you need to do your due diligence each and every time!
