I hired him almost 2 years back. I was tired of his lies and decided never to hire him ever again. He was hired to change my lawn about 10 foot of it, because my dogs played rough on it and tore up, also to change 5 piece of wood on the fence. He took 2 days to complete the job. Also he charged $ 800 for it because he was hourly. He came early morning 7.30am and said Home Depot didn’t have any grass bed at all and they were sold off completely so he is going to Manteca to get the grass. By 12.00pm he still didn’t come back and I went to Home Depot to get something and see several of the grass bed still there. So I took a picture of it and called him, he never answered. By 2 pm he called me and started giving me a story that he got a ticket in Manteca that is why he was so late. When he came by 4 pm, I showed him the picture of the grass bed from Tracy Home Depot and he said «ah that is weird when I went there, there was no grass «. Since it was so late he said he had to come back next day to do the job. Every hour I paid him probably he was working for someone else.

I had a water heater that went down on Memorial Day of course. Jerry was extremely helpful and came immediately to give me an estimate. He fixed it efficiently and very professionally. I was so grateful and he was very reasonably priced. I will defiantly be calling him again

Called Jerry re: a rental house in Tracy disposal issue, he gave me a fair quote over the phone. Came over within 20 minutes, reset the disposal, fished out a screw that had jammed it. only charged a small fee. Super professional, nice and pleasant to work with. I will def use him again.

I have a rental home in Mountain House that I have recently put on the market.
Jerry was excellent. Always on time, finished all the work that I have asked (installing a fountain, fixing another one, and other miscellaneous work) on time and at a very reasonable price. Will use his service again.

All consumers should beware of this man. He claims to be LICENSED– that’s a lie. The CSLB has no record of the license number he claims: 51 154 (taken right off his business card and his online advertisement). Also IF you do hire him (or if your landlord hires him-​as in our case) MAKE SURE you have J.D. «Jerry» Yost sign a waiver for any and all injuries that he incurs on your property. This idiot almost electrocuted himself TWICE at our house –just doing simple electrical (replacing a switch plate). And he isn’t in good enough health to get to the second floor –and whines and complains if he must go upstairs. I understand having health problems or being overweight –but that’s his job. ALSO the whole time he was here –he expected us to be his «helpers»! NOT!
Finally he is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL –he was telling us all about his personal family problems AND how he thinks he is justified to open his ADULT DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAWS PERSONAL MAIL (delivered to his personal residence).
I would never use him or refer him. The landlord used him because he is cheap.

I contacted Jerry to re-​hang some closet doors and he came over to look at the job that day. He said he had to order the rails and he would do so the next day and expected them to take about a week to come in. I waited three weeks and called him. He said he had been to the store yesterday and the store had forgotten to order the rails, however he had some used ones that he was going to clean up and bring to me to see if they would work. He was to come two weeks ago and «no show, no call». found someone to complete the work and pitched his card in garbage.

Jerry promised to work on my repairs a week and a half later from the day of the estimate. I agreed to wait because I trusted him and felt comfortable with him. However he failed to call me or text me until I called him the day before the repairs. He didn’t answer but about 30 minutes he texted me that he is not feeling well and wants to reschedule.
I expected an apology even though he is sick but he failed to do so during out texts. He replied with «oh well» and that didn’t sit very well on me.
After my negative review he did reach out to me and apologized.
Business owners need to understand that it shouldn’t take a bad review to respond or take care of your customer.
We are why you are In business. Being courteous, respectful and communicating can help your customers understand your situation and you can still earn the business.

Jerry started off really well. Came in 30 minutes. Installed a garbage disposal And did a small carpentry job at a fair price. However he took the old garbage disposal and the box of the new more expensive disposal along with the extra cord I ordered. When I called and asked for the box for my new disposal he lied and said he left it on the counter. I called again to give him the opportunity to say he accidentally put it in his truck but he lied again. I have a feeling someone paid for a $ 279 garbage disposal and got a used $ 99 disposal. I would not trust him in my home again. Too bad. Trust is so important when looking for a handyman.

Jerry Yost is the most unethical, non-​trustworthy contractor I have ever used, his behavior includes extortion, stealing, breach contract, etc.
As a handyman, he is only allowed to charge to $ 500. On a baseboard replacement labor only job, he never get back to my request for quote. After he finished the replacement, but left the old board in backyard. He said it is $ 4100 job to replace the baseboard. I said you can only charge up to $ 500, but I gave him $ 600 for the labor job.
We agreed on the kitchen sink counter job, and I gave him $ 200 deposit, he had a little start, but never came back to finish it.
He stole the materials I bought from Tracy Home Depot from my house and kept the pickups under his possession, returned partial as I stated to him it is criminal behavior and I called police finally. He took some of my materials to Tracy Home Depot and asked for store credit, but Tracy Home depot reported to me and get my instruction to credited back to my credit card.

I called him because of his Unilocal ratings and they were all true, had a few odd ball jobs for him, price was cheap, he was on time the next day, finished job on time, VERY happy with his work, call him up, no job too small and he can do just about anything, thanks Jerry you will be hearing from me again!

I have rental homes in Tracy and had a few jobs like installing a ceiling fan, fix a pocket sliding door, and install a dishwasher. His price is very reasonable and his work is clean and professional. I will continue to use Jerry in the future and highly recommend him.

Needed a few odd jobs to be done on a house I just purchased. Another contractor (a referral from my realtor) was not able to start for a week so I looked around. Found Jerry on Unilocal.Reached out to him after reading the reviews here. Not only was he able to start work the next day but his verbal quote was also very reasonable (too low in fact initially. He underestimated the work initially and the quote did go up after he was onsite and saw a few more things to fix — but it was still very reasonable). He completed the work as scheduled on time and the work was top-​notch. Highly recommend!

Late and no call. I left work early, losing money so I would be at my home when he arrived. When I reached him, he told me he was running late «on a more important job» and wouldn’t be able to come until the following day. That didn’t work for me as I was working and would be unable to leave early again. So he proceeds to argue with me via text telling me my job was less important, I was getting off cheap because he normally charges $ 35/​hr with a 3hr. minimum etc. He was going to charge me $ 40 to repair a kitchen drawer boot which obviously was a job that would take him only a few minutes. So how was I getting off cheap? Forget this guy. Totally unprofessional, not to mention rude and unreliable.

Does not show up on a schedule appointment. If he remembers, he shows up late and would suddenly leave because he has another job to do. I told him that he’s unprofessional and being professional is what matters most.

Jerry is a great guy. I contacted him to replace my garbage disposal that I thought was broken. He came over did a couple of things and voila! It’s working again! I got to take back the new garbage disposal save myself $ 120 and Jerry was nice enough not to charge me his 3 hour minimum for his ½ hour of service!

Jerry is a great guy.
I’ve had 3 jobs done by him — one medium and two very large.
Gives great prices and quality of work is above satisfactory.
He knows pretty much everything about fixing/​adding/​removing things around houses/​condos/​apartments. Be it electrical, plumbing, painting, patching … (long list)
I highly recommend Jerry and will be using him for many jobs to come in the central valley.

Jerry is awesome! I had an issue with a gate that wouldn’t close this morning and was more than a little stressed as I did not want the dogs to get out. I called Jerry after finding him here on Unilocal and he was at my house within 15 minutes. $ 25 bucks and less than an hour later the gate was fixed and the dogs were happy to be able to go back in the yard! He can do anything (doesn’t do carpet or linoleum) ! Give him a call! Normally has a 2 hour minimum (25 per hour).
