Jax Kar Wash

I’m responding to Jason from Jax car wash. I’m an automotive engineer. The main electronics are contained within the body, engine compartment or otherwise contained in waterproof housings. Car washes are not the worst thing the electronics will experience.
Turn on or turn up your underbody wash and scrubber, if you can…

Really getting tired of having to send my car back through! I like that they will get it right if you are not happy, but the goal should be to get it right the first time! Upgrade the equipment if that’s what is needed!

Shocked so many poor reviews. I try to go at least once a week. I understand that if the car is loaded with sap or bird poop it may not come perfectly clean but if it’s normal circumstances and your car is salty or has dirt road types of dirt it will usually clean up well.
It’s difficult for me to properly assess the actual value of the wash. I am certain you can find cheaper exterior washes in town as jax is without a doubt the most expensive. If you are the type to rarely pay for a wash do not go to jax, but if you enjoy a sparkling clean car and find the time maybe twice a week you’ll love jax.

Wow, I’m so surprised to see bad reviews! I usually use the Rochester location which I think is good. We were in the area and stopped by the Troy location because we bought a package deal for unlimited washes. My husband in casual conversation mentioned he was impressed they were cleaning the windows as the Rochester location hadn’t been doing that. He didn’t really care, it was just something he said while watching them clean the car. The manager happened to be there and chimed in that, that’s included and make sure they’re doing it. He was so friendly and it’s very apparent he is concerned with making customers happy and making sure they’re getting what they pay for. We both think it’s worth the drive to go back. It is so nice to have someone that will go the extra mile and engage with customers to make sure they’re doing their job correctly. I love Jax and will continue to come back. Thank you to the manager for being so kind and informative. It actually does make all the difference to some of us!

I don’t get some of these lower-​rated reviews for this location! While they sometimes take a bit longer than the other Jax places, they pay attention to the details and take the time needed to take great care of me. And I love the free vacuums and that they towel-​dry my car. One of my favorite Jax’s.

This is simply a really bad car wash. I stopped going to the Birmingham location because the results were so bad, and thought «well I’ll try the Troy location». .. just as bad, possibly worse.
My car had a stripe of dirt down the back of the exterior, and bumper had a layer of filth. .. all of which the person doing the drying completely ignored.
I specifically asked for the 3^rd row to be vacuumed, and it wasn’t. The dash was still dusty, etc.
All of this would be acceptable every now and then if you paid $ 7 for the wash, but at $ 20, it’s nuts. Better alternatives are the good washes that provide vacuums like Paul’s in Clawson, or the one on Opdyke near South Blvd, or even the one farther east on Maple from this Jax location.
I will add that while the Troy and Birmingham Jax locations are TERRIBLE, I have had good experiences at the Rochester location.

Doesn’t even deserve 1 star. The worst! Every Time I’ve gone here I leave and my car is still dirty. Doesn’t make sense. I’m never going here again.

Inside looks nice, staff was nice, exterior wash is horrible — still have bugs and bird poop. Sucks having to go Your Car Wash down the road to rewash the outside.

Remembered today why I love Jax so much. Really needed a good inside and out car cleaning. Asked them to pay special attention to the console, which they did. Pulled out the cup holder inserts and all. Got home and found I had a white stripe along the drivers side of the car Thinking they had scratched it or left wax on it I brought it back for inspection. The manager looked it over carefully and identified it as paint. He told me to wait inside. The manager and store manager came out to take it off. Turns out they didn’t even do it. It was my fault. My car looks beautiful. Love those guys!

The outside is clean but for $ 17 plus tip I expected my dashboard to have lost the dust, clean windows & a thorough vacuum job. I now need to go home & get the Armorall out to finish cleaning my car. Poor work and too costly for the job!

Interior wash service is a joke. Waited 2 hrs. for an interior superclean and it barely looked like anyone touched it! Extremely disappointed.
*Update 5÷5÷14 the longer review*:
Me: Spoke to greeter about receiving Interior SuperClean and Mat Cleaning. After 1 hr. and 45 min. (supposed to be a ½ hr. service) I asked the Mgr. when it would be done and he said 10 more min. The emp. called me out there and had me sign the paper. I pointed out that the steering wheel, NAV screen, floor mats, center console, and interior windshield were all still dirty. He started wiping those surfaces down indicating that he didn’t do the mats because «the spray makes them slippery» (you’re not going to provide a service I paid EXTRA for?!) so I went to the cargo area. It had been half vacuumed and there were dried dog prints all over still. I went straight to the Mgr. who got another Mgr. involved as well. I told them I had been there for 2 hrs and that the vehicle barely looked touched. «I can’t give you a full refund» was what the Mgr. told me. I said that’s fine, I’ll pay for the exterior wash but the inside looks like anyone has barely touched it. He said it’s because I had dog hair and that is hard to get out. I told him that I’ve been to that Jax location before and I go to Mr. C’s in LO frequently and I’ve never had a problem! He said he’d give me $ 20 off but that was all he could do. So I left after wasting my time with a vehicle that still needed a cleaning!
Jason: I’ve spoken to Larry about this, and here was his response; please tell me if you didn’t indicate that you were happy when you left: «This SUV was full of dog hair it looked great the back end cargo was the only area had a some dog hair this is why it took time she wanted all her money back I looked at the vehicle like I said toney did a fantastic job it was clean I gave her a $ 20.00 dollar refund because the cargo area had some dog hair that was embedded in the thin carpet. I also gave her 2 exterior wash passes and apologized and said next time your in will get the remainder of the dog hair out she said thank you.» See, we don’t give refunds for work we did as it costs us time in labor, which is very expensive. But we always stand behind our work and do it again if needed. Also, dog hair always takes a ton of time, but we still did it without charging you more. If you changed your mind and decided that you aren’t happy with the work after all, that’s no problem-we’ll do it again until you’re happy. I ask that you remove your review as it isn’t fair as you left giving us the impression that you were happy with the work (aside from the back, which we refunded). And the free wash passes were to help comp. you for your valuable time, as I’m sure you didn’t expect it to take that long. If you’d like, you send me a picture of the inside. I know that the back carpet wasn’t done well because of the very short carpet, but Larry said that the front 2 rows were immaculate.
Me: I was not happy when I left, I was in a hurry as I told the two Mgrs several times, I needed to be in Warren by 4:30. Keep in mind I got there around 2:15 so expecting to be in Warren by 4:30 was in no way unrealistic. By the time everything was said and done I didn’t even leave until 4:45. Also, the reason the interior looked OK as I told the Mgr. is because I requested that the emp. wipe down the surfaces (steering wheel, NAV screen, etc) when he brought me out there. «Full of dog hair» is dramatic and as I said, I have had it done at this location as well as Mr. C’s with no problems in the past. I haven’t adopted any new dogs and they haven’t changed breeds so the hair situation is always the same. If they though they couldn’t get the job done in a reasonable amount of time they should have asked me if a 2 hr. wait time was going to be OK or perhaps added staff to the vehicle so that one could be wiping surfaces down and another could be vacuuming the cargo area. I threw the 2 exterior wash passes out as I left because I don’t plan on ever going there again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I halfway liked after the quality or customer service I experienced.
Jason: If that’s the case, why did you sign the attached saying that all was to your satisfaction? Look, I understand the time issue was a problem, but we worked very hard to make you happy. We told you we’d get it fixed. We gave you something for your time (not enough in my opinion, but it was a gesture). Please reconsider, give us another chance, and take down your review pending our next attempt to satisfy you; it’s only fair, and we are only human! If you do all that, I’ll still do something to make up for you lost time.
Me: As mentioned before, time was of the essence at that point. I had a 4:30 appt. which I didn’t get to until 5:15 due to the substandard service provided and the lack of communication given by your staff. I’m sorry that you don’t agree but I feel that my Unilocal review exemplifies my overall experience.

This is a great Jax location, tucked away among the Troy Motor Mall. The lines go fast and the service is great! Get the full exterior wash ($ 9.99) and come back for free if it rains 5 days later.

I chose the cheapest $ 5.99 exterior only wash; hey, I would still expect a fairly good wash. It wasn’t. There was a big area on the front bumper that was not touched at all… That’s why only one star… I had a lot better washes at even cheaper prices… Let’s say, I am not impressed with Jax Kar Wash equipment…

Jax detailed my 2007 Mercury Mariner today, and they did an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING JOB! In the last 6 years this car has been through 1 Golden Retriever, 1 Airedale Terrier and 2 grandchildren, not to mention a LOT of cigarette smoking! Tan cloth interior.
I thought there was NO way the interior could ever be cleaned as the seats were so badly stained. Wrong! They look out-​of-​the-​showroom new! The cloth on the doors that had nicotine stains running down them — gone! Just amazing!
«Arnold» detailed my car, and I HIGHLY recommend him!
I’m never smoking in my car again!:) The dogs have, sadly, «passed on»…of course, the grandkids have to stay, but they can’t eat or drink ANYTHING in my car! ha!
P. S. The service I requested (detail interior, only), cost $ 105.00. I told them not to bother washing the outside as it’s tan (never dirty!). When I went to pick it up I could see they had washed the outside, too, & made the tires real black & shiny! I gave them a real nice tip :)

Convenient, close to my work.
Pricing is okay.
Wipe down service is spotty at best.

I started coming here for the full service wash. Yes, it’s $ 19.99, and I’m fine with that every once in a while. IMO it’s well worth the price. It can become very packed on a busy day, and access to the vacuums is very difficult– they are free after all.
Get in line in the left lane if you want full service. When it’s your turn they guide you into the vacuum area, and you hop out. They put your floor mats through a big brush drum like machine for lack of a better explanation. Pop the trunk open if you want that done, they wont do it be default on a sedan.
Go inside and watch the car drive through the suds-​o-​love. When it arrives at the end they jump in, and take your ride outside. There the workers descend onto your vehicle like a plague. Cleaning every nook, cranny, door sill to door jam. I love standing there seeing it sparkle. I’ll still visit Pro Car wash on Rochester Rd. for it’s awesome vacuum access and cheap but great washes in the summer, but for a salty train wreck in the freezing cold it’s Jax all the way.
I joined the Premier group when it was free, i think it was a buck before that but don’t hold me to it. You get a free exterior or full service wash withing two weeks of your b-​day. They put a barcode on my door jam, and each wash gets you a scan, 11 scans = free wash. They also have wash books where you buy up front a pack of washes and usually get one free. They send monthly e-​mails if you subscribe with good coupons. They also offer great detailing services.
If you pass by a jax a lot and like to get the ride washed a lot they have unlimited clubs for a monthly fee. If i passed this location going to work I’d get a wash at least once a week. If you got the $ 29.99 monthly full service unlimited, two visits pays for it, the other two are free. BOGO is pretty sweet in this day and age!

No frills, no nonsense good ‘ol car wash. They offer a free vacuum for patrons to suck up all the cheetos (and in my case dog kibble) from in between car seats. They scrub the bug guts off of your grill. They scrub your tires and wheels. What more can you ask for when you are paying $ 4.99? They aren’t the friendliest but not rude. It is not the cleanest I have ever seen our car but it sure helped to gussy her up a bit. Looking for a wash? I recommend this Jax.

Owning my own personal car for over three years: Guilty
Going to the car wash probably only two or three times a year: Guilty (how I can be my father’s daughter– the man goes at LEAST 3x’s a week)
Being upset that when I DO go the car wash one of those two or three times because they fail to get the bugs off my front grill and side-​view mirrors: Guilty.
*Not going to lie, I think that’s fair. No matter how often I wash my car, I am paying them to clean it. Not just semi clean it. And I usually tip well because I don’t get out of my car to inspect the job they’ve done until I get home.
If I ever go back, you can bet I will get out of my car and check it right then and there.
