The Collision Shop

First let me say that although I have researched on Unilocal for years, I just now joined, specifically to be able to review The Collision Shop. Yesterday, this place saved me $ 840 !!
How did they do that?! Allow me to explain… I just received a new license plate for my 2008 Toyota Avalon. (btw, the State of Michigan has a new law requiring that a plate must be replaced if it is 10 yrs. old, so it wasn’t my decision to purchase a «fancy» new plate, it was mandatory!) In attempting to remove the old plate (rusted bolts — WD40 wasn’t much help) the hole where the bolt attaches to the bumper cracked. And the other bolt was impossible for me
to remove. I went to the local dealership, and they referred me to «their» body shop, which
is not specifically theirs, it does body shop work on all makes and models. I drove over there
immediately. Since the plate on my Toyota (which is in really good overall shape) is attached to the bumper itself, initially the body shop estimator/​advisor said they would have to replace the bumper! However, instead they could probably do it a more economical way, but it would be a «one-​time fix» so if/​when removing the plate next time it would be the same problem. Estimate of doing it the less expensive way: $ 850.00 I was stunned! Realllly? To be able to fix this so my license plate is attached?! And they would have to keep my car for 3 – 4 days!
Come on, that is ridiculous!
I said I would have to think about this. I did more than think about it… I got mad.
Unilocal to the rescue! I found The Collision Shop in Troy. Ed took one look at it, said fixing it shouldn’t be a problem, and went to get one of his team to look at it. Immediately they
agreed they could fix it right then, and they did! Ed said the charge would be $ 10.00
Yes…ten dollars! A couple of new, larger bolts, a piece on the back of each to hold in place.
The tech even came out to show me the new bolts before he attached them, and asked me if
I thought they looked okay! My car was finished in MINUTES, they even put on the new frame I had brought in with me.
I told Ed I found them on Unilocal and I said would be giving them a well-​deserved rave review!
The Collision Shop does things the RIGHT way. They are honest do adhere to a Code of Ethics. (Obviously, unlike that dealer body shop… no wonder people don’t trust those.) I come
in contact with a lot of people, I will recommend Ed and The Collision Shop to everyone!

Several weeks ago I was in a car accident but an agent, Ed Cano, helped me immensly while my husband was away. While giving me advice on whether or not I should buy a used car or repair my old one, he helped out with taking care of the accident and later on, assisted me in choosing the best course of action on what to do about the cars. He took it a step further to look out for the customer’s best interest and gave great advice as well as aid to me. I’m thankful for all the help I’ve gotten from him and his company.

Highly recommended! Ed is fair, honest and provides excellent client service! He took the time to discuss all repair options with me and answer any questions I had. He even personally drove me the rental car company when they were too busy for a pickup. The shop is clean and the team members are very friendly — not your typical repair shop. I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else!

An accident damaged my rear bumper and taillight. I went to three different places to get an estimate for the damages. The Collision Shop was over $ 350 cheaper than the estimate I received from the dealership. My biggest fear of the repairs I had was that the new paint on the new bumper would not match the rest of the car. Ed assured me that it will match. After the repairs were made I was amazed! It was as if the accident never happened.

I obtained multiple estimates on body work damage for my car. Ed was the only one who actually wiped off my car to see what the actual damage was and and explained the different portions of the estimate more so than any other body shop. The estimator at the dealership body shop missed an entire (albeit small) section of damage on the vehicle. I had to point it to him! So, I probably won’t be returning to that body shop any time soon.
Ed is pleasant to work with and seems honest. Although, the repairs ended up taking longer than expected, I did not end up having to pay extra for a loaner car. To my understanding, all the Collision Shops offer either a free loaner or will work with your deductible.

This guy is dishonest. At first he said the cost will be 1500 but when insurance give a total of 2500 he said it will cost that amount. The back rare was not fixed well the trunk looks like it ‘s open. I had to send car back again. Too expensive and I do not recommend him unless you like to be ripped off. He did took care of the deductible. But our insurance went up more because he charged us a lot. Dishonest that is the word that best describe them.

Someone left a nice present on my bumper of my car one morning. I went to three different places to get quotes. It was a smaller job but nonetheless, I wanted it fixed. Not only was the collision shop the cheapest, they promised to get it done the quickest. And they delivered. Ed, the owner was so nice to work with and his follow through was amazing. You can tell he takes pride in his business and goes above and beyond.

I went to Ed’s shop 5 years ago for a repair and his quote is much lower than other collision shop. Since then, I referred a lot of friends to his shop. He deals with insurance co after I informed my insurance co that I left my with him. He will help to fix the car with low cost if I don’t want to go through insurance claim.

They get a solid 5 from me! In November of 2008, I let my 17 year old daughter drive my car… big mistake. Next thing I know, she rear ends someone and causes, according to my dealer, $ 4,600 worth of damage…(everyone was ok, thank goodness)
I took it here since the dealership body shop personnel was generally indifferent and holier than thou acting, so I shopped around and got a quote that was $ 1,600 less — and the work is immaculate!
Ed, the man I dealt with, was very nice and accommodating– I didn’t get any of the superior B.S. like I got at the dealership — highly recommend.
