We had a great time doing a winter fat bike excursion. Ken was very patient and encouraging with my friend who was pretty scared, we never felt rushed and we could take as much time as we could. Beautiful trail, top notch equipment, excellent experience. Don’t hesitate!

My fiancé and I took advantage of a Sacramento Bee dealsaver for a snowshoeing expedition. Admittedly, we were a bit nervous as we have never gone before and didn’t know how it would be to be out for 2 hours. Little did we know, we had nothing to worry about!
Ken was an excellent guide and really helped us to have a fun hike! We ended up going over 4 miles, and fell in love with snowshoeing along the way. From his great conversation to providing us with knowledge about snowshoeing and the area, he demonstrated his experience and love for the outdoors. We already want to go back, and are interested in all the other activities this company has to offer.
If you’re looking for half day trip, full day trip, or even an activity that lasts only a few hours, I’d highly recommend this company! They are the best and you are guaranteed to have a wonderful experience!

Usually I’m the ad-​hoc type of traveler but since I was only going to be staying a few days in Tahoe I did some research on where to ride. And thankfully I did, as it paid off with huge benefits.
Ken has it all. The know how, experience and drive to really make for an exceptional single day or multi session. I rented a carbon 27er from Cyclepaths that road like an absolute dream. I had no idea what was in store but Ken really had it all together. He knew the best places to ride that not too many people are familiar with. And we lucked out with excellent weather. In the end I was 100% satisfied and could only have asked for more time up there.
I truly believe that I will be back to Tahoe/​Truckee many more times in my life to not only shred the terrain, enjoy the outdoors of Cali but to see my good friend Ken too.

Scheduled a tour for my teenage son and me on our first day in town. Bobby, Curtis and John did a great job balancing the day between skills development for me (beginner rider) and challenging my son. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and will definitely book another tour on our next trip to the area.

Ken runs a super fun and organized outfit and treats his guests like they’re great friends he just wants to entertain. We had an excellent ride with Tahoe Mountain Guides and strongly recommend this company.
Our ride was mid-​October and despite the fact that the high season was over, it had snowed in the AM that day up high, and was raining around noon when we were scheduled to head out, Ken and Bobbi and Alex were fired up to ride with us and have fun on the trail. It could have been a «well, it’s cold and rainy and my guides flaked out on me» kind of day, but that’s not how Ken seems to roll. They were all smiles and laughs and met our group with a contagious enthusiasm to get out there and play.
The bikes are excellent and well-​fitted and after a half mile of intro pedaling, we steered off onto the single track. Tahoe Mtn Guides picked a route perfect for our relatively inexperienced but adventuresome group, and led us through it at an ideal pace. Alex, Bobbi and Ken had really helpful tips and pointers for each rider, and they passed along their advice in such an encouraging and fun manner. Stops for water, which the guides carried, came at just the right times. A frosty beer at the end of the ride was tasty too.

Great company! We are a small team who were looking to shoot some videos of the trails surrounding Lake Tahoe. Even weeks before signing up, Ken was very responsive and took time to find out our limitations and precisely what we were going for. Despite it being a busy season Ken and their team went above and beyond to provide us with fantastic trails and an expert staff. Thanks again Ken, Bobbie, and the rest of the Tahoe Mountain Guides staff!

Was fortunate enough to stumble into the Rocky Mountain Bike Demo days. Had an awesome ride with Ken and Alex on the Super D into the Sawtooth. Great guides and all around nice folks. Will surely hire them for a future trip and to discover other gems in the Truckee area.

Went on a great ride this morning with Alex. For our group this was a first time mountain bike ride and Alex made sure he fit the ride to the groups ability. Easy going, safety was number one and provided many mountain biking tips. We all had a great ride.

Last minute decision and trip to Truckee… Made a few calls and spoke with TMG. Read a couple reviews and didn’t know anything about them. I wanted a very specific trip and if they could pull it off I would hop in the car and make my first trek to Tahoe. I was in San Fran on business, from NH and had no gear with me. They called me back and were able to accommodate very quickly. So I hopped in the car and made the journey. TMG connected me with a very experienced guide Alex who knew the trails and did an amazing job touring me around. It was such a great experience, I stayed the night and did it again the next day… We also came across an injured rider and Alex was trained in first aid and we were able to help this poor rider out…(dehydration but he will be fine!). Anyway, everyone was friendly, accommodating and most of all experienced and safe! I would highly recommend this company and hope to get back there again! Took my very first ride with TMG between Truckee and Tahoe and it was great. They’re well organized, very friendly, great teaching/​intro to the sport the local trails, everything!

Took a three day holiday vacation to tahoe with my fiancée, and we decided to do a ½ day mountain biking tour. My fiancée isn’t much of a mountain biker, so we wanted something that wasn’t too hard technically or aerobically.
We met TMG at about 9:45am, and were provided with two great Rocky Mountain brand, full suspension bikes. They looked almost new. A short 15min drive to the trailhead and we were off.
We rode on a fireroad for a few miles, some climbing and some descending. Our guide Bobbi was perfect. Warm, friendly and always willing to provide a tip or two to my fiancée on navigating rocks, climbing or using the equipment. Definitely a great motivator.
At one point we came across a small Rubber Boa snake which was crossing the road, our guide stopped an SUV from running it over and then proceeded to move the snake to the side of the road. Even provided a bit of local knowledge on the snakes in the area.
We got about to the half-​way point and had to decide on whether we should continue on fireroad or take some singletrack. We all decided on the singletrack, which had some rocks and roots on it, but wasn’t overly technical. If my fiancée had to walk because she got stuck or we wanted to check out the scenery, it was always a welcome break.
Upon returning the shop, she recommended an excellent sandwich place on the other side of truckee (Full Belly Deli).
Bottom line: A very friendly operation, from taking our reservations to customizing a ride that was ideal for our abilities. I know they also do shuttle rides and more advanced rides as well. I’d definitely use them again.

My husband and I went mountain biking with Tahoe Mountain Guides last week. Ken was our guide and we had a great time. It was my second time mountain biking so I was a beginner. He gave me some great pointers and rode with us for as long as we wanted to ride.

Unreal riding with these guys. Bob and Tom were absolute professionals and didn’t disappoint in the least. They took the time to find out what kind of rider I am, what I was looking for in my Tahoe MTB experience, and catered a private trip that was everything I was hoping for. I am still smiling! From beginners to hardcore riders, if you’re coming to Tahoe to ride, check these guys out, I can’t say enough.

We’ve used TMG for the last two summers and they are the best. The guides know the trail systems in the area like the back of their hands. Ken and his crew are great at working with you to gauge your MTB level so that they can make sure that you go on a ride that you’ll actually enjoy. Unlike other guide services we have used in the past, TMG is great at leading bike rides for all levels, from beginner to racers, without anyone feeling left out.

They did an amazing job with our corporate retreat! Ken is extremely knowledgable, friendly, and professional. Everything was well organized and the team had a great time riding the trails in Lake Tahoe. Our employees can’t say enough good things about their experience. We would definitely use TMG for future corporate events.
