Tahoe Truckee Vacation Properties

We’ve all had that feeling. The first few interactions with a company, business or service are not positive, but you say to yourself this is the exception and you still move forward with them instead of going with your gut instinct.
That was the case with our experience with Tahoe Truckee Vacation Properties who we leased a property through for the ski season in Truckee (5 month lease). I should have gone with my first instinct which was to not sign a contract with them as things got worst not better.
It began with the contract taking weeks to be completed and sent to us and even then the contract had several mistakes and had to be sent back to be corrected a few times (big errors like the move in date being off by one month). At one point, they said just trust us and sign the contract we’ll honor the terms we agreed to via email. They also slipped in a $ 100 «booking fee» into the contract with no notification that this was part of what we owed during any of the initial discussions.
Any questions we had took several days or weeks for responses and in a few cases they never answered even after several emails. There was even one point where we could tell there was a water leak somewhere because of the water bill. Tahoe Truckee Vacation Properties’ response was to contact the water company! I’m sure the property owners would like to know that there is a water leak.
I wonder if the owner (s) of Tahoe Truckee Vacation Properties realizes how poor the customer service is (or maybe the people I was dealing with were the owners and don’t value customer service).
We are doing another ski lease next season, but this time we are going through VRBO and working directly with an owner. Already the experience has been 1000% better.
My advice is never use Tahoe Truckee Vacation Properties as a renter or owner. I would never use them to list any property I wanted to lease or rent out now that I know how horrible they are with renters.
The only good thing out of this experience is that it motivated me to finally sign up for Unilocal! (which I’ve always relied on for reviews, but have never left one myself). I can now leave my own reviews and pay it forward! I promise that my next one will be positive as I owe it to many of the great businesses I have used!

I wish that all property management companies in Tahoe/​Truckee were as efficient, friendly and easy to deal with as Kristy Purdy at TTVP.
Kristy answered my questions and was there to help when I asked for a couple of screens to be installed in my summer rental. I highly recommend these guys for any of your seasonal or vacation rental needs.

This property management is a joke. BE AWARE. THE PROPERTY MANAGER IS A THEIF. We rented a property for the New Year. Went in to find a dirty place. Carpets were white color with black shoe prints on them all over the stairs and bedrooms. Laundry was thrown in the machine and not done. We called several times and left messages with the property management and no one returned our call. The lights to the property went out so we contacted the emergency number. After several calls Christy finally picked up the phone gave us an attitude wouldn’t or couldn’t tell us where the power box was and hung up the phone. Thankfully we found it and turned the switch on and lights came back on. We cleaned the house and left. 2 weeks after we left Nicole called and said we owe addition $ 100 for cleaning fee. After I said they can’t charge my account they did anyway for $ 418. They claimed the cleaning crew had to do excess cleaning so on top of $ 220 that I agreed to pay with the contract. They stole $ 418 from my bank account. Christy the property manager is rude and she needs to learn how to communicate without an attitude. She is a THEIF. Be aware she will steal your money. I never had an experience this bad before. I wish I could rate them negative one star is too much for them.

Rented a great house in Truckee for my entire family for an early holiday celebration. There were even a few holiday decorations set up for us. The front deck had a nice string of lights and a small Christmas tree in a corner. The gas fireplace was amazing. It worked really well and heated almost the entire house, rarely ran the heater. The house stated in the add that it was well stocked with basic supplies. It really was. Multiple everything and tons of towels and amenities that I wasn’t expecting, spices, dish soap, shampoo, etc. It was a great experience and better than I could have imagined. The house was very clean, had multiple TVs and ready to go. It even had supplies for dealing with the snow. The office staff were available for questions and very responsive. If you are looking for a private home in a gorgeous rustic setting, ask them about the Baugher home. Diana A.

We drove up for a long weekend over the 4^th of July. We had 3 kids and 3 adults in our group. The house was well equipped. Extra couches and a few TV’s helped us to spread out. The kitchen was great for group meals there and for quick pizzas for our teenager. The decks were massive and the views were breath-​taking. Early one morning a bear sauntered through the back yard, while the neighbor’s dog went nuts. Inside, the info binder could be improved and updated. It did not mention association rules only allowed 4 in the pool. Plus, the company they hire for professional cleaners may be slacking, but once we vacuumed, swept, and wiped the tubs et al, we had a wonderful time for the entire stay. The ladies in the office responded to most of our calls rather quickly and resolved our few concerns. I would work with them again and would recommend them. The location in the Sierra’s is so gorgeous that it is worth figuring out the details to get past them, and get on with enjoying and exploring Nature’s glory.

Thanks for the wonderful arrangement over the July 4^th weekend. We had a memorable time. We loved the cabin and if we are to do Tahoe again, we’ll spend no time looking for cabins but directly reach out to this place. The place was well maintained, groomed and stocked with excellent supplies.
It was also pretty close to Tahoe and easily accessible via highways. Ideal spot. Comfortable place for 12 people. Television, High Speed Internet and equipped kitchen. And everything was in place like you’d have it at your home.

Tahoe Truckee Vacation Properties has never let me down! I have been using this vacation rental company to rent homes for my family members and friends when they come to visit Truckee.
Nicole and Kristy are very attentive and quick to respond to any questions we have. Holidays, weekends, and after hours you can always get a hold of someone!
I defiantly recommend TTVP to anyone for vacation rentals, short term rentals, and long term rentals!

I have rented through tahoe truckee vacation properties for six years now and can honestly say I don’t have any complaints. Anytime I needed something the employees were on top of it. All the outsourced work such as Johnson second home care were always right there when ever anything needed fixing or shoveling also. They have a great group of people ready to help you no matter what day or hour it is. TTVP has their stuff together and are there for you as a renter.

The office doesn’t seem to be open and in three tries they have never returned my phone calls. I don’t even think this is a real business, or perhaps it’s closed?

We have been a long time clients of Tahoe Truckee Vacations properties. We are renting at Tahoe Donner every summer, and a few times during the winter, for the last 7 years. Every time we are grateful and impressed with the professionalism, attitude, and exceptional service. All offered houses look new, clean, well equipped, and maintained. You can rely on employees’ advise while choosing the house to better suit your party’s needs. Brought many friends, who will become loyal customers as well.

I have to agree with the previous negative ratings. I organized a ski lease for the season and we took impeccable care of the house. We left the ski house in better condition than we received it, yet we still have to pay $ 140 in repairs for damage that we aren’t responsible for. Also, we have to pay over $ 100 in hot tub maintenance fees, although we took very good care of the hot tub. I don’t totally blame the property manager for this experience — the owner was difficult to work with, however I do blame the property manager for not managing the owner better. It’s been two months since I turned over the house, and I still haven’t received a check for what’s left of my security deposit.

What a joke. Rented a very nice place in Truckee and when we showed up at 4 PM, the house was a mess. After a few calls, we finally got a hold of the property manager and she said they would send cleaners by within the next 2 hours. She asked that I get started on the laundry in the meantime!
Two months after our stay we got an email from them:
«After your stay the owners arrived at the property. They did notice a dog had stayed at their property which is not allowed by the association. Fortunately, they were not fined by the association but they did notice dog droppings on the back deck. We had to send someone over to pick it up and clean the deck. It was $ 110.00. So, we will need to charge your credit card for these charges.»
Our bad for letting our sister’s dog come by, but $ 110 to clean it up? Please. How about I charge $ 200 for doing the laundry.
Great place, but horrible management company. Beware.

Last winter, I was looking for a place in Truckee, CA to spend the snow season with a skiing group from Squaw Valley.
It seemed to me that cabin owners in the Truckee/​Donner area do not advertise a lot and that there wasn’t a lot of alternatives to using a property management company as a proxy. So I went ahead and looked around on websites.
I concluded that TTVP had the most availability for what I wanted: they did not present many run down houses that I wouldn’t want to visit, let alone live in, and not too many outrageously expensive houses that I couldn’t even afford.
In fact, they had a few choices fitting our needs and their website was descriptive enough that I ended up renting a place without even visiting it.
Going ahead with the rental implied the following:
— generally more paperwork and processes than dealing with a cabin owner directly, such as changing utilities under our name prior to moving in.
— many non-​negotiable costs such as telephone/​cable/​snow plowing that we could not decline, non-​refundable insurance, hot tub maintenance and cleaning fees etc.
Some of these might have been owner requirements and others might be regular industry standards/​guarantees.
As the season progressed, I was able to speak with everyone at TTVP and they were very responsive to my emails/​phone calls. They also accommodated their processes for us and were pleasant to deal with.
After the season, we had a few concerns to address and TTVP stayed diplomatic and professional all along, and eventually helped conclude our season to a satisfactory end.

Rented a 5 bedroom 3 bath in Truckee from this company for the entire ski season (5 months) and although the rental house was in poor shape to begin with, the service from the rental company was much worse.
They were not responsive to problems. (ie toilet was broken and not fixed for weeks, stove knobs were not working and kept falling off etc, heater downstairs worked 50% of time and unpredictable, house was filthy when we arrived, cobwebs dead insects everywhere)
Tthe worst part is they only returned 75% of our security deposit when the house was left in better condition that when we arrived with regards to cleanliness as we had professional cleaners come in, and nothing was broken that wasn’t mentioned above.
Rent at your own risk.
