This business is an absolutely abysmal place to get a watch battery or wrist band replaced; they do not return calls, it takes a week to replace batteries and after 6 MONTHS they still haven’t replaced my watch band! When I presented my claim check (from May 2015) the Friday after Thanksgiving, the person waiting on me didn’t «know anything about it,» and «the owner must have been working on it…» When I questioned the length of time they’d taken to «simply replace the watch band…» the man retorted: «Well now you’ll just have to wait ’til Tuesday, «when the owner returns!,» And promptly ordered me out of the shop! He also mentioned calling the police, and when I questioned he reason for doing so, he called me a derogatory name! These people have NO business sense and whenever I’d go to check on the progress of my watch band change, they’d give me another lame excuse!

I dropped off 4 watches for battery replacement and Charlie took care of it for me in a matter of minutes. My bill was @ 20 bucks and I had a great chat with him and his Dad David while my wife and I waited. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this family ran business to anybody that needs repairs for their clocks or watches. They are very knowledgeable and Rolex specialists as well!

A colleague recommended this repair shop after I related a less-​than-​satisfying experience with one at the mall. A-​1 Watch Co. fixed my Michael Kors watch within five minutes and charged me $ 10. (The repair shop at the mall had quoted me $ 190 in addition to a $ 35 «lifetime» battery.) Both gentlemen in the shop were helpful and friendly. Based on my experience, I highly recommend A-​1 Watch Co. to anyone needing watch repairs.

A friend recommended this place and takes his high end watches there. The owner/​employees are watch enthusiasts. I’ve taken my Tag Heuer there and was very happy. They seem honest and the prices are very reasonable.

5 bucks a battery; quick switch… way way better than quickfix which costs 4 times as much! Highly recommend.

My wife and I have used this watch shop for several years now, usually to replace watch batteries and get expert advice from David QUACKenbush. Recently brought over three 14k pocket watches, and other watches to get fixed. I noticed David has a fascination for pocket watches. He seemed to have a great knowledge of the origins and type of movements.
After a couple of days I called to see if my items were ready for picked up. At first, they asked for a ticket number which I explained that I did not have one because they ran out of printed receipts). At that time they had just wrote my name and cell on the back of one of their business card and put it in a plastic zip lock bag. They promised to give me a call back when they have located it.
Two weeks later I’m still patiently waiting for that call, only to be told to call back in another week when I had called on Thursday Oct 30^th. 2014.
After 3 weeks, my patience ran out and I finally called again and asked for them to please locate my items and have them ready for pickup. Don answered the phone. He knew that I was not happy and stated that they have been busy and need more time. I was respectful, (held back my anger) and told him, that’s ok, I will pick them up in a couple of hours, please have them ready. He asked for a ticket number. Which again, I explained to him that I don’t have one because you guys can’t seem to have any printed receipts. It’s been almost a month, and they still don’t have printed receipts. «What kind of business operates like this»?. «You need to have an ample supply of printed receipts for back up».
Heard Don relaying the information to David. Without asking any questions or showing any concern, Dave immediately got on the phone, screaming like a little girl, and said «It’s none of your D@#M business on how I run my shop»!. «Come pick up your S#! T». Dave stated that I was giving his guy (Don) a hard time. I kept my cool, unlike David. I didn’t believe the prior reviews of Dave yelling at customers. Well here is positive proof.
I arrived to pick up my items. One customer at counter, another sitting down on a chair, while David was busy with another customer. As soon as he looked up and saw me he walked to get my items and placed on counter. He wouldn’t make eye contact. I asked him, are they fixed? Only one is fixed, he responded. «Ok, what do I owe you for the fixed one». NOTHING! David was really calm, quiet, and nice as can be. I guess he thought I was going to make a big scene or something in front of his customers?
After coming here for many years I realized now that we as customers are not really high on his priority list. Communication from him is bad. As a paying customer, I was just trying to let him know about customer relations and business practices, not telling you how to run your shop. Thank you Mr. QUACKenbush for your services. We no longer in need of your services. I rather go to somewhere else where they treat customers with dignity and respect and actually follow up with their customers. Don’t need your childish antics. You can keep the three pocket watches that I brought to you. You can never seem to find. Seems you need them more than I do. Your not worth it! Good Luck in your business!

Always courteous and the work is excellent. Batteries are replaced quickly and at a good price.

Stay away from this ripoff artist. I brought in a ladies gold and diamond watch for repair on Dec 29 and never heard from David. I went in to see him in February and he said he had to put the bezel on and he would call me. He never did! In March I again went to see him and was told that the watch was stolen. To make a long story short he offered me SCRAP price $ 1000.00 for a watch worth $ 3500-​$ 4500. Now I have to sue him. STAY AWAY

I have known A-​1 watch since 1986. I grew up in Tucson and Dave and A-​1 have taken great care of us over the last 28 years.
I know the watch and clock repair business is a slow paced industry. Parts take weeks to months and the repair process is very slow.
Quality work is slow but Dave is top-​notch! That’s why I ship my pocket watches and wristwatches to him from LA for repairs and tune-​ups.
As for other reviews from people from other states, I have my doubts if they are legitimate. I can’t imagine Dave yelling at anyone.
I trust A-​1 with my valuables.

We had brought in a particularly difficult watch, a vintage Omega Moonface, to be repaired. I work with another watchmaker, and it was his watch– but he didn’t have the place to source such specific parts. We have referred other people here before so we thought David might be able to get it working. It was already keeping excellent time, but the moonface had stopped moving. We brought it in in June, David thought he’d be able to make the part and we told him it was intended to be a Christmas present. We even payed him a portion upfront as we know that watches of this nature can take a long time to service.
Unfortunately, communication from him was horrible. Not only did they not call us– but they stopped taking our calls. We started checking in around October, which is reasonable as the watch had been there for 4 months at that point. We were constantly told that David was busy and that he would call us back, never returning our calls. It then got to the point where he wouldn’t even take a message– just kept telling us to call back in 1 week, or 3 days and this continued for about a month where I’d call back every time on the day he asked me too, but Christmas came and went and he told us he was too busy with other customer’s jobs.
Finally we asked him just to forget it and that we’d pick it up. He told us it’d be ready on a Thursday, it was not. He told us to call on Tuesday and it’d be ready, it was not. Finally in February I was able to go in and pick it up and it’s no longer running. The hairspring is broken and a mess of other new problems exist. On top of that he told me that I had «pissed him off because I interrupted his work process by calling too often.» I reminded him that he kept asking me to call back and that we were paying customers in this case, as well as colleagues. He screamed that I should get out of his store and never come back. I’ll be very, very happy to stay away.
