We were traveling when the alternator on our car went out. We were very pleased with the quality and speed of their service. We will use them when we move to Tucson in Dec.

I was a fairly regular customer here for a few years. I used to even recommend them to others.
Borst was always more expensive than other mechanics I went to, but I went here out of convenience and also because I thought they did a good job. I always paid the bills and never really caused any issues.
However the last time I went here I was treated very strangely by the people who work there– people who I’d interacted with before several times when I went in as a customer.
The one person at the counter talked to me like I was dumb or something and the other one kept staring at me… like I was an alien with an extra arm sticking out of my head… It was very strange and their behavior made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
It’s a very uncomfortable feeling when you look up and every time you look up, the person is just staring at you and giving off a strange vibe… I have no idea what happened that caused them to treat me in such a weird way after all the times I’d gone there.
Because of the strange behavior and hostile/​uncomfortable atmosphere, I’ve stopped going to this place. Thank goodness there are other mechanics in town!
I prefer not to go here anymore but if I’m desperate then I’ll use them as a last resort.
I also no longer recommend this place to others. Why would they treat a customer who’s supported them for so many years in such a strange way?
Update 2÷20÷15−− Wow, what a strange response from the business manager to a very real review. When I went in here last time I was treated strangely by the people who work there, and now he’s saying I’m not a real person /​customer? That my reviews are fake?
Well for the record I am a REAL person and customer and my reviews are real and legit (I’ve left more than 120 reviews!)

Just had our 2002 Ford Ranger’s engine and radiator replaced in September. Painfully expensive, but since when is a major car repair not painful or expensive!?! Since they are recommended by Triple A, we felt comfortable going ahead with the work. So far, all good. No problems. Service agent was fine. We dealt with the same person throughout the experience (Lori). She was pleasant. Turn-​around was quick as well.

This is the second time I have use this shop since they were recommended. My vehicle was over heating and since they were recommended I had it towed there. After inspection they told me I needed a new fan clutch, power flush, new thermostat (which I just replaced) in order to guarantee the service. Total $ 1, 042.00, I said go ahead and do the work since it was there. I thought the price a was a little high, but it appears there is a 100% mark up in services. $ 119.00 for a coolant flush, $ 773.69 for a fan clutch and install, ($ 470.00 for part, $ 302.00 labor) $ 48.00 for a radiator cap, $ 33.00 for an over flow cap. After looking at the vehicle this morning I checked the two caps that I was charged for and they were not even replaced! I feel like I was bent over hard. I know I could have walked, but I needed it fixed that day. If you have lots of extra money, go here. If not, run and go to another shop. They seem to have a lot of elderly cliental. Before I came in to was writing this, I was outside in the drive replacing the radiator since a part broke on it, and it over heating again!

Who takes 5 and a half hours to do an oil change?

I called and scheduled an appointment for 8 am on a Thursday morning. The work wasn’t completed until 1:30 that afternoon. Really? How hard is it to change someones oil? Especially after I asked Jason on the phone initially how long it would take and he said only an hour and a half. Timely? Not so much. Ruining my whole day? Yes it did.
I went to these guys after getting the $ 19 Groupon deal for an oil change and 30-​point inspection. Got the oil change (supposedly), but when I walked in to get my keys and receipt and go, no one talked to me about any inspection, just handed me my keys like they wanted me out of the way. And then when I tried to leave, I was blocked in, so I had to go back inside and ask that the car blocking my way out be moved. Also, the cars that are done being serviced end up parked at the very front of the shop in a haphazard and illegal way.
I’m sure these are stand up guys, but I honestly did not have a very good experience here.

I have always been able to get in when I need service. They do great work and I can leave confident with the work they have completed. Peace of mind while I’m driving my vehicle is very important to me and Borst gives me peace of mind. I like that they always explain everything clearly and give me the opportunity to say «yes» or «no» to each repair. I rarely say «no». That is how much I trust their recommendations. At the end of the day I like not worrying about my car.

I really wanted to like this shop, but they keep letting me down.
Borst has not completed the work in a timely fashion per their estimates — I expect when a shop says its only a few hours of work and ask me to show up at 7:30am, say they’ll be done by 5pm, they complete the job in the same day and don’t force me to find alternate modes of transportation.
Borst has used parts that have not been OE per their promise to me, they have used inferior parts and then charge a 600% markup on the parts which they justify as their «warranty». Although they «warranty» their work for 2 years, you’ll pay for this one way or another.
The cost per hour for labor is higher than other shops, but per guides like Mitchell, they are doing the work in less time then some shops might typically spend so this is a plus.
I would recommend you get written estimates for both labor *and* parts before you choose to use this shop. I don’t think there is a «perfect» shop out there, but their prices have been on-​par with my dealer estimates and my dealer has always delivered in the time they quoted (although they quote longer, I at least know what to expect) and they have not wasted my time nor used questionable parts.
All in all, I don’t feel like I got ripped off, I just feel like they didn’t provide the service I expected.

Went to Borst after seeing a Groupon for an oil change and inspection for $ 19. An awesome deal! After the inspection was completed, I was shown a list of items that needed to be repaired on my vehicle. This would have been great if the prices were reasonable. I was quoted for new rear brakes for $ 330. I kindly refused the repairs and drove down the road to another business where they were replaced 45 mins later for $ 180, almost 50% less than Borst. I can understand that small businesses have to make their money somehow, but overcharging for services is not the way to go.

My truck blew a lower radiator hose and Borst is really close to my house so I had it towed there. They called me that afternoon and let me know I also needed a water pump and quoted me over $ 1000.00 for the pump, two hoses, thermostat and cooling system flush. I’m not made of money so I called the mechanic I normally use. I gave him the list of work to be done and he called me back a few minutes later with an estimate about half that of Borst. Needless to say, I had my truck towed to the other mechanic and saved a bundle.
The staff was very friendly and efficient. With the number of cars that are always there I would guess that they do good work also, I just can’t afford them.

I have had some ups and downs with Borst automotive. On the other hand I have had many problems with other repair shops. I stick with Borst. I would like to ask the negative reviewers, if the repair shop you regularly visit is so trust worthy, why are you taking your vehicle somewhere else? The list of repairs you are receiving are not necessarily asap’s ASK! I did and do. Lori goes one by one what needs attention now and approximately how long I can wait to repair other items. I give Borst automotive 5 stars.

I called ahead this time to confirm they still had my appointment and it was there. I showed up 10 mins early and they were waiting for me. This was an oil change and a 30 point inspections, I should have asked ahead, so keep in mind this takes about 1:20 to be done.
The waiting room is great, cold A/​C, free water, coffee, cappuccino, soda, popcorn and cookies.
Once they finished, the inspection did not comeback with any crazy finds and the whole check-​in /​check-​out process was smooth. I think they recovered from the first fumble.

I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I’ve been to so many mechanics in my life, I just wish I had discovered Borst a long time ago. I’ve been coming here for six years and now. I’ve brought six different family vehicles of different brand and model years and Borst helped me keep up with the vehicles through their various maintenance needs and occasional crises.
Borst is consistently reliable, honest, professional, and helpful. They stand behind their work and their reputation. The service writers always help me prioritize what needs to be done first out of all the things that are needed on the vehicle. Their friendly driver will transport you to work or home.

I had a voucher for a free oil change. I asked them to look the vehicle over because I was going to be making a long trip soon. they came up with a list of $ 1400 of repairs that were URGENT or I would break down on the road. I went to Jack Furriers on 1^st (whom i have gone to for 6 yrs) and they said the majority of the list is BS. They came up with only ONE needed repair of less than $ 200. BIG FAIL for honesty from Borst! and now i am getting post cards in the mail from them reminding me of my $ 1400 in repairs that they are ready to do!

No matter what, getting your car repaired is always expensive but these guys did such a great job.
I originally wanted a tune up and of course by battery and alternator crap out right before I take it in. So an expensive trip later I’m back on the road.
I was more than happy with the service, they threw in a couple of extra services and I left with some items that they recommend I get fixed, which I did appreciate. They completely looked at every inch of my car and told me what should really be done now and what I can wait on.
AND they were fast. Being without your car for any period of time sucks but these guys were very quick and I haven’t found any spare parts sitting on the engine.
