Design & Adorn is a jewelry supply store specializing in kumihimo and beadwork. We offer a beautiful selection of quality craft ingredients including the country’s largest selection of kumihimo supplies.

Our classes cover a wide variety of topics including: kumihimo, on– and off-​loom bead weaving, bead stringing, and wire wrapping. We offer courses for beginning, intermediate, and advanced beaders. Our classes are a fun way to meet new people and learn something new. Our instructors are highly knowledgeable and many are nationally recognized experts in their fields.

Not into classes? No problem. We also have kits and books available for those who prefer independent study.

History

Established in 2008.

Our first location was on the Northwest side of town on Oracle at Magee. We moved to our current location April 2010.

Meet the Manager

Manager

I have a long history of jewelry making dating back to my first experiments with edible noodle necklaces. Eventually, through trial and error, I learned that neon colored pony beads and shoe laces don’t make for the most pleasing designs and today have traded up for gems and glass.

These days I’m crazy for Kumihimo. This Japanese braiding technique is fun & quick to do and the possibilities are endless. I wrote my first book about kumihimo in 2013 and now I’m working on my third.

What I love most about my job is teaching! I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was little. I started by teaching arts & crafts and Girl Scout camp and tutoring fellow students in high school. After college I taught English in South Korea and then German at the U of A. This is the by far my favorite teaching gig.

When I’m not working, you’ll finding me enjoying afternoon tea with my husband or reading a book.
