Dragoon Brewing Co

As an admirer of the Dragoon IPA, it is with sadness that I post such a bad review for a place that I thought I would have loved.
The beers on tap were different than advertised online, which isn’t a huge deal, but there were a couple on there that I came out to see.
The bartender was a prick. There were more physical taps than beers listed, so I asked if there were any I should know about. He said «that’s astute.» Not what he said, but how he said it, and the tone of his other explanations. I went to a brewery, not an uppity club in Scottsdale. This isn’t what the brewery experience is supposed to be like.
Otherwise, I have to say that for how much I love the IPA, the other beers were below average at best. They definitely need to work on being more consistent overall to compete with other breweries, local and around the country.
Overall, not worth the trip and ruining my opinion of a brewery that I previously held in high regard.

Truly one of the best breweries/​taprooms I have ever been to. This place is beautiful, clean, and spacious inside and I’ve enjoyed coming here with friends to hang out with some flites, as well as just coming here to get some growlers filled.
The staff is very knowledgeable about their products and are great at making suggestions on what to try next.
I also really like the fact that there is usually a food truck outside — varying from pizza to burgers to ramen.
I’m always excited to come here again and again to see what new brews they’ve whipped up!

Dragoon is a must visit in Tucson. The new taproom is much larger than it was, a huge plus for how popular they are! There is a long bar, which means more spaces at the bar so you can talk to your bartender about the new beers on draft. I love the Ojo Blanco, they the standard Dragoon IPA is a oldy but a goody. They offer yoga (called bakasana and beer) on select Saturday’s where you pay $ 5 to get a 1 hour class taught my Jade and then a pint. What a great Saturday in my book. While they don’t serve food, check out the website to see which food truck is scheduled for that day.

This is a fabulous local craft brewery and taproom. With 11 different delicious beers on tap there is a flavor for everyone!
Tucked away in the industrial area off Grant near I-​10, this has been a great neighborhood secret. They’ve expanded to a condone there growing popularity, but have kept up with demand. Service is still quick and friendly.
Hungry? New food truck every night.

This is the place to go in Tucson if you are looking to find complex local beer. They have a ton on barrel aged beer, sours, porters, stouts… you get my drift. It is in the back of a warehouse district and the sign if really hard to see from the road so just trust the directions on your phone and you will be able to find it. Both times I have been there a food truck has been parked out front.

So I’m going to go ahead and call Dragoon the hipster brewery of Tucson. And that says a lot, I live in Austin, the hipster Mecca.
All handlebar mustaches and flannel shirts aside, the beers are on point. We had a large party, and not only was there room for everyone, each person found a delicious beer to enjoy. My personal favorite was the Öhaygrrl (a gose) but the Half Moon Dunkel Weiss was also great.
My only desire was to have some food to nosh on while we imbibed. Yes, there was a food truck outside, but it was pouring rain and we weren’t going to venture out.

If you like a laid back brewery taproom with awesome selection then go. If not then stay away and leave more room for others who appreciate nothing but awesomeness!

I’ve only been to this tasting room once quite a while ago but it’s for sure one of my favorite brew spots in town. The beer never fails and the service at the tasting room is great even when it’s crowded on a weekend evening. They don’t serve food but they are happy to let you order in and/​or typically have a food truck. If you like beer and haven’t been yet, you must go!

I heard so many good things about Dragoon. During my Arizona road trip I asked all sorts of people, including many brewery people, what breweries I should go to in Tucson and every single one said to go to Dragoon, that it was the best. The friends I stayed with in Tucson also said this was their favorite so of course we had to check it out. Maybe I was expecting too much but I ended up disappointed. The brewery feels too boring and sterile. The service was awful, the guy helping us was a total jerk. The beers were pretty good and interesting but not amazing. If however, you are looking for something different and more adventurous you should give them a try.

I’ll keep it short. GO DRINK BEER HERE! I have literally been to over 100 craft breweries across the US, and I can say 100% that there are very few places that you can go and ALL the beers you try are great.

I’m from Massachusetts. We know our beer (to say the least). This is the best damn brewing company in Arizona. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise (although I hear AZ Wilderness in Gilbert is really great, I have yet to make the trip up there).
My favorites thus far:
IPA (because of course)
Unihopper (Citra/​Nelson were great; would love to see galaxy or mosaic)
Monsooner (dortmund-​style lager!)
Stronghold Session (english dark mild-​sorta!)
Munichorn (munich style dunkel! underrated style!)
Santiago (vienna lager; modelo-​nego-​kinda!)
Fumacabra (mesquite smoked bock!)
Westerbru (hoppy lager collab with New Belgium; would love to see this come back!)
They’re always coming out with something «New ‘n Tasty» (Oddworld reference– sorry!). Check their website for what’s currently being brewed or on-​tap at their beautiful new tap room. Can’t wait to try that Flashdance hoppy lager. Keep ‘em coming!

Beers good, service is not bad, always crowded and hard to find a seat but I like the fact that you can have half pints of beer-!

Dragoon Brewing Co. is nestled among a bunch of warehouses and buildings off the beaten path of Grant Rd., but it is certainly a treasure worth hunting for. My husband and I make it to Dragoon at least once a month, and we’re always happy with our experience.
They have a lot of beer to chose from, with a wide variety of styles for all kinds of tastes. We can almost always depend on a food truck to be present as well, so we make a dinner date night out of it.
It’s clear that there’s a community centered around Dragoon. They’re always packed. Everyone is friendly, and there’s a buzz in the air like something exciting is always on the horizon.

I very split on what rating to give. It was going to be a golden 5, but I’ll get to that in a bit.
Dragoon is tucked away in a somewhat industrial area which seems per usual for breweries in Tucson. The night I went, they had an Indian food truck in the parking lot (Indian food in Tucson?! Sure, why not). While waiting for the food, my big group headed in to get our beers. Someone in the group got a taster of all the beers being offered and it came out to about $ 32, not too bad. I personally just went with a flight of 4, which you write down on a paper and they bring to you.
I must say, all the beers I tried were really good and high quality. And you can even see through a window inside that they take good care of the brewing equipment. We even saw then cleaning as we were there.
Now the biggest issue came after we left… Wait, after we left? Yeah, we left and continued our brew quest over at Nimbus. One of our guys left his card at Dragoon though and didn’t notice til we had gotten to our next site. He instantly called them and said that he was coming straight back. By the time we had gotten there, they CUT HIS CREDIT CARD. What? Why? Who does that?! At minimum, you should hold it for a day or two. I just can’t wrap my head around their logic of cutting his card.
Anyways. Fortunately their beer is hella good and that’s their savior for this review.
Dragoon, please train your staff how to handle incidents like that better… I mean you are serving alcohol and people are getting drunk, cards will be forgotten.

So I got kidnapped for my brithday last week and my awesome friends decided to bring me to places I had book makred on Unilocal to try out. This was on the top of the list. After sampling the yummy brews at the Ye Old Unilocal Event in December 2014, I was hooked. First off, the place is a bit hard to find. But its almost like a tresure hunt because you know what you will be getting as a reward… awesome microbrews. One you get inside, it reminds me of a hip industrial brewery that you need an invite to get in. I felt pretty cool let me tell ya. A bunch of industrial tables, a long lean bar with unbecoming taps behind the bar tenders, and the wall-​o-​brews as I call it on the wall, just waiting for you to pick your poison.
You can get a sample taste, a full pint, or a growler to bring home, all at decent prices for Tucson (Around $ 5 – 15). I went with the #7 Scout Porter that was brewed in late November 2014. Yum! The subtle smoky-​ness with the rich chocolate undertones was a must, although you could count this as a meal! My friends and fellow Unilocalers who joined me tried the #5 Fumacabra, which I will now call the bacon beer. It tastes like you have just drank the smoke from a bacon fire. ha ha. Also on the wall-​o-​beer they let you know what it might taste like just in case you werent sure on going all in for a taste. Fab!
Right now they have 11 beers on tap ranging from IPA to barrel-​aged goodness.
So if you are in the Silverbell/​Grant area and are looking for some up and coming brew-​ness, try and find it behind the insdustrial buildings and take a gander. This would be a great place to bring some cards, sample some brews, and take a growler home for later.
Faves: Scout Porter, Fumacabra

Consistently making some of the best beer locally. They are friendly and have a new taproom with extended hours. As a warning, they don’t do too many light beers and they don’t have food. They often have food trucks and you are welcome to bring your own food. As a plus, they support the local homebrew community.

Their beer is ubiquitous around this town but this was my first visit to their newly expanded taproom.
Their space is austere, non-​descript and, unless you know where to look, downright hard to find. You won’t be dancing or doing karaōke here. There are no TV’s, killer bar food (although I understand there are usually food trucks in their parking lot) or kitschy themes. That’s probably good for other businesses because their beer is so good that, if they had those things, it just wouldn’t be fair.
I’ve had their IPA at a dozen places around town and I am a huge fan of it. I could swear, though, that the growler-​full I took home was the tastiest yet. Of course, since I was there, I had to try a couple of their offerings. Their board showed the following offerings this day:
Fumacabra — described as a mesquite smoked bock. That sounds as scary as the name suggests.
Lazarus– Barleywine with an ABV of 13.75. They’ll only give you a five ounce pour… for good reason. I asked for just a sample of this. Strong and sweet… it really did taste like wine.
Double Red IPA — I thought I loved their IPA. This was just as good… maybe better. My timing was good as this had just been introduced the day before.
Bier del Bac, Stronghold Session Ale, their signature IPA and others that escape my memory round out the menu.
It’s not close to me and that’s probably a good thing cuz if it was… I would find myself here way more than I should be.

This one brewery single-​handedly changed my view of the entire state of Arizona. Call me narrow-​minded, but I had kind of shrugged off Arizona as a retiree state. Now I admit, I was wrong to judge a book by its AARP enrollment.
Dragoon Brewing, like most good breweries, is tucked away in a warehouse in a nondescript section of town. The entrance is around back, and a little hard to find. Despite the popularity, there is plenty of parking.
The beer list at Dragoon is incredibly varied and creative. The day I was there they had everything from a tart, crisp gose to a beer that tasted like a campfire. Each beer was unique and well crafted. The standouts for me were the gose, the Unihopper with Nelson hops, and the IPA.

So Dragoon just expanded!!!
This expansion takes the hole in the wall delicious brewery we’ve all come to love and makes it a great destination brewery for anyone in Tucson. The old space was limited in space and restricted how many people could hang out there. The new space is very large and can fit tons of happy craft beer enjoying Tucsonans.
They just had their opening night (Dec 10^th, 2014). The place was packed and the beer availability nearly doubled. They had all of our favorites and tons of options to pick from. The new expansion really allows the brewery to be a hang out spot for so many people. They frequently have food trucks in the parking lot and I assume will do so more often with the new space.
Bottom line… The beer is hands down the best in Tucson, the new expansion looks awesome, and there is no reason not to head down and try and pint!

Well I finally made it to Dragoon Brewery! I’ve been drinking their IPA for a couple of years now and just couldn’t get the time to visit. Came here after a football game and fell in love with the brewery very quickly. Reminded me of a lot of the great breweries I’ve visited in San Diego.
Located in an industrial area, actually all the way behind a building, it was a little hard for me to find at night. Once I found it you walk into the small tasting room. TheT had a food truck parked here on the night that we visited which was cool.
I had a sampler which had all the beers they were serving. Came out to $ 11 for I believe 8 beers. All the beers were good and I loved the Rye Imperial IPA! Man I wish they would can that for me.lol.
Like typical small independent breweries there is always a charm when you can sit in a tasting room with other craft beer lovers. I felt that instantaneous with Dragoon. Good vibes, great beer and I’ll be back!!!
