This place was alright, I am not sure it is worth the money unless you get the lunch specials. Even then the cheesburger seems more like a fast food burger than a gourmet burger. They do have yummy fries.

Their stone burger which has bratwurst and a beef patty on a Jewish rye bread was delicious.

I’m not in downtown Tucson very often, but unluckily my husband and I had a legal matter to attend to today, and this was a perfect opportunity to check out Eat a Burger, a restaurant we have heard much about. The restaurant space was small, but looked to be very clean. As mentioned in another review, there is a strong smell of grease and fried food in the air. A couple of fans might have helped the smell. My husband and I both had combo meals, upgraded our drinks to larges, and paid around $ 21. Is that a good deal? It seemed a bit pricey to me. The burgers were good, but a bit thick for my taste. I know, I know, most people love a really thick burger. I’m just not one of them. At least the meat was cooked all the way through. It was tasty, and the produce was very good. The fries were ok, but seemed a little greasy to me. I saw on the menu that they sell hotdogs made with Nathan’s Famous franks, as well as milkshakes. If we are ever in the neighborhood, we’ll probably give those a try. So, a pretty good burger, but I can drive a mile and a half away to Lindy’s and have a much better one.

Burger and Fries: Pretty Damn Delicious(4 Stars). Service and Friendliness of Owner/Staff: Pretty Horrible(1 Star) I have been a Eat-a-Burger patron for a long time, both Truck and B&M. Their business seems to be going pretty good. That is why I cannot comprehend why this dude and gal team always look so freaking miserable. At first I thought it was being stuck in the Truck. Now they are in a building and it is still the same. Can you guys please take a freaking vacation already! Go in and try the burger. Just don’t expect a smile.

I wrote a *glowing* review of Eat-A-Burger when it was in the cart across the street of my building… I think it was even featured in a weekly roundup for my quote about their bacon: «heaven art thou knocking on my heart?»(actually it was probably cholesterol, but its hard to tell when it’s really good food). I love simple food, done well. That’s why I loved the cart. They way they grilled the burger, even the way they wrapped it up so the bun all pressed down into the burger… it was simple, and perfect in it’s simplicity. Then, the move to the building. At first, there was trouble. Like, 30 minute waits for a burger… and then either getting my burger WAY undercooked or WAY overcooked. The owner did the grilling in the cart, but seemed to subcontract that out to a new guy when moving inside. Then there were some ordering troubles with the lady who worked the register. All the new options made for much more opportunity to have your order entered incorrectly. I waited a few months to see if things would get settled down. And they did… but… It’s still not the same. The last time I ordered, my burger came out as I ordered it, in the condition expected. I had it within 10 minutes of ordering. So, there’s no complaints. They are doing a good job. But it’s just not as good as it once was. The buns seems different, and I wonder if it’s something even as simple as they put it in Styrofoam containers now rather than wrapping in paper? But the buns just don’t taste the same, the patty isn’t a juicy, the toppings don’t blend as well… Don’t let me deter you, it’s a good burger. I am just pining for what once was…

Eat-A Burger is one of the better burger places in Tucson. The pricing is a little expensive, but the quality of food is well worth it. The menu is a bit difficult to read, but overall they had great service. The food was very tasty, and the dining experience was simple! Recommand if you are downtown for lunch during the day!

I finally made it out to Eat-a-Burger. I wanted to wait awhile because they were new and I wanted to make sure they had the bugs worked out before I went. I was expecting big things from Eat-a-Burger because I was a big fan of them when they were in the trailer. I was not disapointed with the food or service, they were both great. My favorite thing about Eat-a-Burger is that they are not gimmicky. They just make a good burger, and now they have a better enviorment in which to enjoy the tasty burger. The resturaunt is nice because they have a big front window which is nice for people watching. My suggestion for EAB is maybe they could add milk shakes to their menu.

We were craving a beer and a burger last week. We got a good burger, but no beer unfortunately. The burgers were good and cheaper than Zinburger, but not as good. I did like that even with a few toppings, you could actually taste the meat. A lot of times the toppings over power the meat. We had both the regular fried and the fabulous fries. While the fab fries were better, I’m not sure they were .75 cents better. I wish they had beer, but can tell their business isn’t driven by the dinner crowd that wants a beer. There were only a few people who were there while we ate on Friday night at 6. Overall it is a good burger. We’ll probably go back if in the area and craving a burger.

People sometimes ask me about my scale for reviewing and most of the time it’s as simple as «great food + great service = great review.» Mediocre food and crappy service gets reviews lowered. When it comes to EAB, I’ll be honest, they’re still working out the move from truck to brick and mortar. Are you going to get exactly what you remember about their mobile meal cooked hot and fresh in front of the library? Not yet, but it’s SO close. You have to keep in mind they were using propane across the street, electric in the pioneer building and things need to be shifted in order to re-create the experience that so many enjoyed. So if things aren’t the same, if there are small tweaks to be done, why 4 stars? Well because sometimes for me other things trump food and service and thus put local businesses on a higher pedestal than their competitors. And such is the case with Chef Jass and Sin. They recognize there are improvements to be made and want to know what people think. First time I was there I thought the fries were a little soggy. I told them and tonight they were crisp, AND I took ‘em to go yet they were crisp when I got them home. So when you’re eating(and as long as it isn’t busy) introduce yourself and give them some feedback. They want to hear it and they want to get better. And for me, that’s what owning a local business means. Immersing yourself in the community that supports your efforts by spending their hard earned dough. And for me, that’s the power of Unilocal!Empowering people with the ability to make a positive change by offering constructive feedback and celebrating business success on a real local level. Know Before You Go: Tired of waiting in line when they’re slammed from 11 – 1? Head downtown Saturday! They’re open 11−10pm and there’s always more parking than during the week!

I’m likin’ Eat-a-Burger! Their concrete spot just opened up. No more cart, which of course takes the adventure out of it, but regardless of that, their downtown location hasn’t changed and the burgers are FAN-tastic! The cart was always busy so I’m hoping the overhead doesn’t bite them in the butt. I picked up a cheeseburger meal to go. Took a bit of time but the burger was worth it. Great flavor. No fluff. Just a great burger. And even though the fries were in the styrofoam container for 10 minutes or so, the fries remained nice and crispy! This is an all-around great lunch for cheap prices in a great location. I highly recommend!

Eat A Burger… I love that you’re downstairs but waiting 15+ minutes for a to go order is a bit much. Some folks had been waiting much longer. I know that you’re still in your beginning phase but the speed has got to get better! EDIT10/22/2011 I’d stayed away from Eat A Burger for a little bit but decided to give them just one more chance and I’m glad I did. Their service speed has gotten better. From ordering to get my to go box was only 8 minutes yesterday which is a VAST improvement. Good job Eat A Burger!

Since I reviewed Eat-A-Burger they have ditched the food truck and opened a restaurant in the Pioneer Building downtown… They’ve expanded their menu to include Nathan’s hot dogs, milkshakes, onion rings, chili fries, fountain sodas and more… with the same great friendly service I was use to in the food truck!.. Go get some great burgers now!
