I suggest everyone think twice before adopting any animal from this agency. Not only is this entire organization unorganized, it is extremely unprofessional, guilty of contract breaching. I adopted an adorable puppy in November of 2011. The day before I adopted my puppy I saw him and his litter at the Oracle Petsmart. They were selling the puppies for $ 150.00 each with an emphasis that this fee included the first 2 booster shots, the rabies shot, and the Pima County license. The next day I saw the same puppies at another Petsmart location for $ 110.00. Of course, this reduction in price had me sold, so I filled out the adoption paperwork. I mentioned the price change and the volunteer helping me out immediately upped the price back up to $ 150.00 saying «oh, you have money to spare.» Really? Do I? Well, at that point I was already attached and set on adopting my puppy, so I just let it slide. After all, it included most of the booster shots, the rabies shot, the license, AND a super cute puppy. I thoroughly read through the contract, verified with the volunteer that the rabies shot and license were included (I was told I would receive the license tag and paperwork within 90 days) since, after all, those were the TERMS OF THE CONTRACT. I just think it’s funny that FAIR gives adoptees the third degree about sticking to the terms of the contract when they themselves can’t even stick to their own terms! I was told my puppy’s rabies shots and license were included, yet they weren’t. I called their «message only» phone line, left several messages, to which only one was returned. The «cat director» called me back, told me she couldn’t help me out because she only deals with the cats (well, maybe someone should have listened to my message when I said I adopted a PUPPY) and that the «dog director» would call me ASAP. Never heard from him. I sent emails which were ignored. I even went into a Petsmart and left my name and number for the President of FAIR to contact me. Apparently the President, Jennifer, is hiding behind her «message only» phone line because she instructs the FAIR volunteers not to give out her last name or a direct phone number. Unfortunately I had to take up this issue with my bank since no one from FAIR has since contacted me. To think I actually donated to this fraud of an organization.

Several years ago, I attempted to adopt a dog from this organization. I found a particular dog I was interested in on their website, so I emailed them and was told that this dog would be at their adoption fair at Petsmart the following Saturday. When I made it to Petsmart, I was told that this dog’s foster parent didn’t want to bring him in, because he’d grown too attached to the dog, but they’d see if they could bring him in next weekend.
The following Saturday, I came back, and once again, no dog. They suggested I look at the other dogs, so I did, and found a very nice mutt who seemed to like me. She was there with her sister, so we filled out the adoption paperwork and took her home with us.
Needless to say, it was a disaster. The dog had SEVERE separation anxiety, which was not mentioned when we asked if the dog had any behavioral issues. She yanked down several curtain rods, chewed on the blinds until they cut her gums and she bled all over, and generally made a mess of our rental house. Despite our best efforts, she escaped out our front door the evening after we brought her home, but was luckily returned the next day after a neighbor found her. Unfortunately, she escaped AGAIN the next day, apparently desperate to get out and find her sister (or something).
Obviously, this was not going to work out. I attempted to contact the organization by both phone and email to let them know what had happened, and that should the dog be found, I would not be able to keep her. Despite repeated contact attempts, we were unable to reach anybody. The dog was eventually found, injured in a fence and full of cactus prickles, and after cleaning her up, I had no choice but to take her to the Humane Society so she could find another home.
I’m sure these folks mean well, but the serious communication issues were a big problem, and caused trouble for myself AND the dog I tried to help. I would not recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a new friend.
