It’s been years since I’d been to a Kmart and if its years before I go again… it’ll be too soon! The store is crazy-packed, with displays of items haphazardly strewn about mid-aisle, at aisle-ends, and pretty much in any spare space they can find. It makes shopping very difficult because there isn’t room to turn around on an aisle. If you make it half-way and want to turn around you’re just stuck! It’s all a little overwhelming, really. Also, I was shocked that prices weren’t lower. They’re comparable to Target prices(I always though Kmart was cheaper?!?) and even though we went on a holiday weekend, I was surprised that there were very few sales. The only«positive» factor was the wide selection of childrens’ toys. It almost felt like a Toys R Us with the huge selection. But I’d way prefer shopping at Toys R Us… much less claustrophobic!!!

Years ago, Kmart was the big kid on the block. All the other retailers seemed to always be chasing Kmart. How the mighty have fallen. Kmart has since been gobbled up by Sears and is now a shell of it’s former self. That doesn’t mean they don’t have anything to offer. This is the last Kmart in town and, while I don’t go out of my way to shop there, when I do I always find what I expected and something I didn’t expect to find. They have a a good selection of housewares, electronics, sundries, apparel and even a small grocery and liquor section. They also have a team shop where you can buy U of A gear as well as find stuff for, mostly, pro teams. They also usually have pretty good seasonal offerings. Get there early in the season to find what you want. Get there late in the season pick through the leftovers, find a great deal and store it for next season.

Kmart has not been good in a long time and this is no exception. I tend to come here for dog food though because its ALWAYS cheaper here. The Olan Mills people used to hunt you all over the store and talk you(Ok they talk me) Into scheduling photo appointments. I usually always end up cancelling and I know i shouldn’t sign up in the first place but seriously they stalk you through the store– its a bit creepy. :) Pros– Cheap Dog Food! Cons– Dirty, Disorganized, HOT(like Lauren K stated in her review its always hot in there) Check out is ALWAYS long and half the time their machines aren’t working or they are slow. Everything else seems pretty overpriced especially toys… I never buy toys there. I do like the Sears outlet they just put in, but I wonder how much longer this store will last.

A cross between Target and Walmart. Packed to the gills with inventory and sometimes not well organized, but bargains can be found here if you take a little time. Some of their store brands(I can only speak to the men’s clothing) are very good quality at a value price, and in my estimation better than Walmart. I recently bought some khaki pants here and I’m very happy with the fit and wear. Their David Taylor men’s line is decent, with some well made sports and dress wear available. The store is not as crowded as Target and Walmart, so if you need something in a hurry you can generally get in and out quickly. The service is ok, but then again, I’ve never needed much. The parking lot is large and usually a spot is available not far from the door. One of the best times to shop here is early in the morning right after the 6AM opening.

This is probably the worst, dirtiest, K-Mart I’ve ever been in. It smells, and it is usually VERY hot in there during the summer months. I don’t think their selection for most stuff is particularly great. I’ll continue to come here maybe once or twice a year for after-holiday sales, but that’s about it. One plus is that the staff is usually pleasant enough, certainly never rude.

Can I give a place less then 1 star? So I am a nerd and usually I don’t partake in the nerdy ritual known as the midnight video game release but due to some hiccups with my online order of MW3 I was on a 11pm hunt for a store that didn’t have a redonkulous line so I could score the Hardened edition which Tigerdirect so horribly screwed up my order on. Well this places electronics section closes at 10PM!!! 10PM!!! the store closes at midnight and they refused to sell me the game at midnight even if it was legal they just were unwilling to get the manager to open the cage and sell me the product right at closing even if I was willing to wait. I took my business down the street to walmart scored my game and got the added bonus of seeing the after 10pm entertainment event known as the«People of late night walmart». Long story short ignoring customers and being dismissive of requests is probably why as a company Sears/Kmart/… is struggling.

I don’t like Kmart. I like Walmart. I don’t really like Walmart, but it’s better than Kmart. This Kmart is dirty and cramped. At least the Walmarts around town are cleaner and less cramped. Ok I don’t like Kmart.
