The Parlour Frozen Yogurt

INSTEAD of paying by the pound, you pay a flat rate for the cup size at Parlour, HENCE make it as heavy as you want with fro yo and toppings!
i actually enjoy the icier texture of their fro yo (as opposed to creamy) since its so refreshing, ESP on a hot summer Tucson day! my only gripe is i wish they had better flavor selection
i think the best two flavors i tried were the blueberry pomegranate & green tea! prickly pear was interesting but not enough bold flavor & salted caramel was yucky

What the hell happened to this place? It used to be great! I went the other day, and half the machines were down & covered, and the ones that were working were dripping melted yogurt. It was a mess. There was no one there, not even an employee. I stood there for a minute, then turned around and walked out. I doubt I’ll return.

I feel like I am asking someone to put my dog down by giving the Parlour one star, but a recent visit made it clear that it’s time for this formerly wonderful gem to go.
The Parlour has good yogurt and seemed like a good concept: attach self-​serve yogurt place to a successful pizza joint, in a busy stretch of 4^th Ave. Offer a good product and keep it simple — charge by size and not weight. Our whole family loved it — cute place, helpful staff, creamylicious dessert.
It didn’t work.
Over time, the prices and sizes have changed repeatedly (including my favorite: the 50 cent mini cone). The current price of $ 4.50 is too much for the average family outing — no WAY am I paying that much for my kids to get fro yo — especially when the shop itself is a mess. On our last visit, the Parlour was staffed by a sign that instructed us to pay at Magpie’s. We found some tasting cups on the machines (some of which were working properly), alongside several used tasting cups, probably because the trash can was MIA. We sampled anyway but the whole experience was so depressing that we left and headed to University and Tyndall, which has gelato, ice cream, and fro yo in at least 4 locations within about 50 yards.
We really loved the Parlour and will grieve to lose it, but its time has passed.
Bright note: Magpie’s pizza is as awesome as ever, and the boules green is back for summer! Hurray!

Fixed price .and lots of good toppings .good yogurt but machines didn’t all function during the street fair and the poor girl at the counter didn’t know much about the operation.

I’m not that big of a fan. I had the chocolate and I don’t know if it is because it is yogurt, but the chocolate tasted off. Like a little fruity/​tangy. And the selection of toppings is limited, what place doesn’t have peanut butter sauce??? Also, the service could be a little nice and not on her phone so much.

Sweet spot right on 4^th Ave for a cool treat with vegan options and local flavors (e.g. Prickly Pear) — yummy! Don’t miss happy hour (3 – 5) for a great deal. Also, you buy the cup, so it’s not by-​the-​pound. :-)

My roommate and I ordered acai bowls and a few minutes later when the kid working brought them out, he dropped one of them on the counter into the container of peanuts and then proceeded to scoop up the sorbet with his bare hands and put it back into the bowl, licked his finger and then asked «Do you still want this or should I make another one?» I felt very uncomfortable because I knew it took a while to make but I was grossed out at the idea of him touching it. I said «Yes please because you touched it with your hands.» In reply he says «Well my hands are clean.» Yikes.
Even after all of that, the acai bowl was probably the most awful thing I have ever eaten. Please do not order an acai bowl. It was the worst thing both my roommate and I have ever tasted. It smelled and tasted like potato starch made with sour milk. We got them to go and didn’t try them until we got home which was a waste of money.

Yummy stuff! Really love that they have vegan options, the prickly pear was simply refreshing and delicious!

While the yogurt itself seemed slightly bland, it was still pretty good. I enjoyed the fact that they carry a few southwestern flavors, such as mesquite, horchata, and prickly pear sorbet. There are a few vegan options on the menu as well. I also liked that the flavors were paired and could be swirled together. The beauty was in the pairing, such as pink lemonade sorbet paired with prickly pear and horchata paired with chai latte. There is also the option of choosing a waffle cone, which I’m definitely going to do on my next visit. The choice in toppings was pretty extensive, and I saw many toppings I haven’t seen at other frozen yogurt shops. Oh, and pile em’ on, because as many reviewers already mentioned, you’re charged by the cup (or cone) rather than by weight. The atmosphere is quite fun with some unique seating available and plenty of colorful local artwork next to which you can enjoy your sweet treats.
The thing that really attracts me to The Parlour is how the yogurt is flavored and sweetened. First of all, The Parlour uses pure crystalline fructose to sweeten its yogurt, which has a much lower glycemic index than table sugar or cane sugar, or if you’re like me and sensitive to cane sugar, not having to sacrifice my mental clarity for something sweet is pretty great. Also, their flavors are gluten-​free. Those who don’t have celiac disease may not be aware of how often gluten is used in artificial and natural flavors. It is extremely difficult to avoid, and the fact that The Parlour does so says quite a bit about the quality of the ingredients. If these flavors had a stronger presence in the yogurt, this place would certainly get a bump up to five stars.

Love how thy do the prices in that they don’t charge by the weight! Staff is very friendly & you will want to tip them every time. They have a great selection that they change up & bring other great selections. Also they use a healthier version of regular sugar that won’t break down so quickly & make your blood sugar spike!

I wanted this place to be good being right next door to Magpie’s Pizza but the it sucked. All the yogurts were Low Fat and Gluten Free … there is gluten in Yogurt? … anyway the flavors are weird. Most taste strange and twangy … like tartish to pucker power.
So after all the supposed Health benefits they have chocolate covered marshmallows that are quite strange.
I hate to even call the one flavor chocolate … let’s say it was dark brownish …
We will not be back.
Again the young man running the place was a bit stoned. Okay… not a good state of mind to do business. It would be his last day of work if I was running the place.

Super friendly staff! Yogurt was creamy and there were plenty of toppings. I love the prickly pear flavor sorbet, and the vanilla yogurt is my favorite.

I got the pistachio and horchata frozen yogurts and topped with oreos, reeses’ cereal, waffle cone bits. yumm.
You pay based on size of cup, not weight.

Gluten Free, AND Dairy free flavors! This is the only froyo place I have heard of that charges by cup size, NOT weight! They were friendly, happy, and made sure we knew all the options of toppings so that we could decide what we wanted.
The store is bright, and has patio seating. It was a great break in the middle of a busy day.
I love the Horchata flavor, even though it wasn’t dairy free, and they have a variety of nuts to add, instead of the usual one type.
they had Boba balls, and squirty bottles of caramel, etc. There were fruits, and candies, nuts and weird things.
All of it was clean, no dripping nastiness all over, even though it was really busy.
The three of all loved what we got, didn’t even want to try bites, because we were so happy. LOL
Only one of us had been there before, and she said it was even better this time!

It’s wedged right smack dab between two shops or restaurants. Cutesy little place with a several tables inside. More seating when the weather cools down out in the front patio area. I had the coconut with no toppings. Hubby got the Nutella and little cutie pie the caramel and piled it up with fruit toppings. Must try if you’re in town!

We just discovered The Parlour last night after a great meal at Magpies. My daughters adore frozen yogurt so of course we had to give it a try. Very nice selection of yogurt and great toppings. I love the fact that they charge by the cup not weight. It’s about time someone did this! First daughter got salted caramel yogurt, white chocolate chips, white chocolate syrup and, of course, sprinkles. Second got classic vanilla yogurt, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup and sprinkles also. The quality was far better than our usual place, BTO. The yogurt is a little icy, but still has a nice creaminess. I didn’t feel like I was tasting ice milk as I do at BTO. We love pizza and we love frozen yogurt. I think my family has found a new favorite dinner outing!

Yum is on tap at The Parlour Frozen Yogurt. I love this tiny little pleasure treasure tucked into the corner of Magpie’s Gourmet Pizza. I was first introduced at our Unilocal Elite March Madness event, and I’ve had a hankering for their decadent deliciousness ever since.

1^st stop: CSA produce pickup in the courtyard of the historic YMCA
2^nd stop: The Parlour Frozen Yogurt
It’s a quick walk, and the perfect refreshing treat in this summer heat. As Katie P. mentioned in her review, this is different fro-​yo — it’s unlike anything I’ve had before… in a good way. The flavors I’ve tried are less creamy, more icy in consistency.
There are several dairy-​free selections for us vegan and lactose intolerant folks, and lots o’ indulgent toppings to choose from including a selection of nuts, sprinkles, fruits — get creative! Sampling is encouraged! There is truly something for everyone here. Plus, it’s fun to pay with their Square payment checkout.

I love the feel of this place, it’s just adorable — plus they like to feature art of local artists (woohoo SUPPORT LOCAL!) so if you are an artist or know anyone that would like to be showcased, you should head down there.
As for the froyo, its not exactly froyo. It’s more of a sherbet texture, harder, not creamy soft. They have unique flavors like nutella, prickly pear, etc along with some normal staples like plain tart (called euro tart here).
I like that they are standard price: not based weight of how much froyo or toppings are in your cup but moreso based on your selected cupsize.

Ill make this quick. This yogurt is associated with Magpies right next door. I learned that the owners wanted to get away from charging yogurt by weight so they wanted it a low flat free. Hence my 5 star review. Was a great idea, charge me for a cup and let me put whatever I want in! I loved it. You get your choice right up front on the size of the cup then you go from there. No more guessing game on how much topping you put in is going to cost. Good place!

I am torn about this place. Yes, I gave it 4 stars. Allow me to explain — the price is unbeatable. The kids cup ($ 2) is more than enough to mix in a couple flavors and top with some normally very expensive toppings. However, it’s really not like frozen yogurt. Everything is like sherbet, it seems water based. They offer a variety of flavors, dairy free and vegan… but don’t come in expecting your regular fro-​yo!
They gave me a punch card + it’s on 4^th + $ 2 for frozen goodness topped with reese’s = I’ll be back.
