Viscount Suite Hotel

We had an annual dinner for our spiritual center at this hotel for the second time in two years. Apparently there were problems with the food last time (we missed it last year) but either nobody said anything at the time, or the right people didn’t hear about it so they scheduled it there again this year.
Our three dinner options were a vegetarian pasta dish, London Broil, and chicken piccata. Five of us at our table of eight ordered the beef, and four of us found it virtually inedible. I have fibromyalgia and couldn’t cut the meat even with a steak knife, but my husband is a big, strong man, and he had great difficulty cutting it, and said his hands were actually tired by the time he ended up cutting my small piece of meat. And at least a third of it was such hard gristle that it was inedible. My friend sitting next to me stopped trying to eat hers about halfway through because her jaw got tired from chewing such overcooked, hard meat.
After the dinner I heard other people complain about the meat as well as the pasta. People said they would talk to the board members and the minister about not going back next year, but I felt it was important to also let the hotel know why we were planning to discontinue holding our annual dinner there. The young man I spoke to seemed to take the feedback seriously and well, but we won’t be going back next year because there’s just no way to know what the quality will be.
We also held it there about three or four years ago, and it took numerous attempts for me to get a meal that fit my dietary restrictions, even through I had discussed them with several people at length before ever arriving for the evening and had been assured it would be no problem.

Went to dance at Wilbur’s grill this Sun from 430 to 730. To our surprise, the group Clear Country was not there. The entertainment schedule given to me a week prior by the front desk clearly states the group was playing on Nov 15^th. When we inquired at the desk, the staff was totally clueless and had no answer. Last time we’ll go there. Should have called first, but they probably would have looked at the same schedule we were given.

Nice staff. This place is a smaller hotel trying to be one of the big boys. It was clean and well kept. the only thing was the pool area was pitch black in the dark. very dangerous looking for a lawsuit are you? the pool and hot tub was lit but walking to it was sketchy. id stay here again but i will prob never have to stay in tucson again thank gawd

The condition of the hotel has gone slightly down. Carpeting in the public areas need replacing. Even the 3^rd floor rooms are getting minor maintenance issues. No more in room movies which means even less stuff to watch on tv. Still a great value however.

Back at U of A, with my boys. The Viscount has completely renovated the 3^rd floor! The rooms are very large and clean. Breakfast is actually very good. We paid about $ 75 per night. Overall, excellent!

I still can’t believe in this day and age Hotels still use tube TVs. Rooms are spacious, clean. There was an ironing board but no iron. Called front desk to have them send me one up, it took two repeated calls. Beds were not bad. The waffle maker was broken. Breakfast was meh. Next time I’ll spend extra for Hilton or sheraton.

Key doesn’t unlock rooms, their system goes down at night so u can’t leave n get back at your leisure, kind a trapped in your room.
Wouldn’t pay $ 62 thru Priceline to stay there not would I trust Priceline again!

Booked a suite for 5 days via Priceline while in town for business.
Decent hotel. The staff is friendly and the room clean (after having housekeeping come twice). The furniture is shabby and needs replacing. Beds comfortable. Not worth the price on their website. I have a feeling I got the «Priceline» room.

To me this is the kind of hotel I like. It’s unique.
It’s not a resort, so don’t expect one. If you really want a resort, go stay at one and pay crazy prices for it! But don’t stay here and then complain that it’s not a resort… that’s just dumb.
The hotel is a bit outdated– but so what? I LIKE the retro, vintage look. If you really have a big problem with things being «outdated» then stay elsewhere, right? If you are super picky and like the latest fad and want perfection, then this will probably not be the hotel for you.
This hotel is conveniently located, has lots of parking, and is a great price for the rooms. And the rooms aren’t rooms– they are 500 sq. ft. suites! Personally I find that to be a great deal! The only thing it didn’t have was a kitchen. Otherwise there’s a living room/​sitting area, a bathroom, and a bedroom.
The breakfast is good and is included along with your stay. There is a pool and a small workout area. The indoor atrium isn’t super fancy but it’s cool.
There’s also a restaurant in the lobby area.
Every once in a while they have live music available during certain evenings.
This is a great convenient location too– if I ever have friends or family come visit, this is the place I recommend to them.
When we travel, this is the kind of place I wish I could find more often!

I was able to find a good deal for this hotel. I needed a place to stay for one night because I was passing through. I had purchased a single bed room, and when I got there I asked if 2 beds were available. There were non available, but they were able to give us a king size bed with a couch. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Check out at 12pm
Our room was very spacious. I am usually a germaphobic person, but our room was very clean so I did not have to worry about that.
It came with free breakfast. They had a small buffet station that offered scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal, toast/​bagels, beans, tortilla, and a make your own waffel and omelette station.
I had a great experience and would definitely come back.

I rated this hotel a five star because we are pleased with the rate per night, the beds were comfortable, the buffet was delicious and the customer service were very nice to me and my dogs.
I was pleased with the swimming pool, executive gym and the parking was great. My mom and I needed a safe place to stay and the hotel was alive at night. I wish I didn’t lose my sandles at the pool though.

If john Hughes owned an 80’s themed hotel this would be it, complete with brass handrails and glass elevators, it’s interesting. I didn’t stay for the décor though, ok pool and cleanish rooms no serious complaints.

Nice and friendly staff nice and clean hotel that could use a little updating. Wilbur’s restaurant has some nice tasty food if your little hungry. The beds were nice and comfortable also but the TV definitely needs to be updated.

Great place to stay for the gem show with a fair room rate. We stayed for the entire 16 days of the gem show. This is our 14^th year going to the Jan/​Feb gem show so we’ve stayed in a lot of «interesting» places. We are so happy with Viscount Suites, it is our new home when we are visiting Tucson.
This is an old Embassy Suites-​like hotel that has been taken over. Rooms are spacious and clean. Yes, they are dated but the ever pleasant staff makes you forget all about the cosmetic stuff. The location is good. Close to good shopping areas, theaters, and close to our favorite restaurants. Target and Walgreens are both super close so it’s convenient when you need to pick up something you forgot.
Side note: They are in the process of remodeling. If you want a newer room ask for a room on the 3^rd floor. Hubby and I prefer a 1^st floor room so we took the flowers on the curtains with a smile.
Breakfast:
For me this is important. I need a good breakfast and a newspaper. They had both; and I enjoyed it every morning. The free cooked to order breakfast down stairs is good and has a good variety of standard American breakfast basics, from cereals, to bagels, to breakfast meats (sausage, bacon), to staple carbs (hash browns, tater tots). There were even some Asian options (congee, steamed buns, stir fried noodles) to accommodate the international guests. (I don’t think Asian options are offered during all times of the year, just during gem show time.) All was delicious. When you are staying at a place for 16 days, it’s certainly nice to have the option to have a different freshly cooked omelet everyday or to have some good olé rice porridge.
Room:
The room had a fridge, microwave and a Keurig. It was a real sanity saver to have a Keurig to make real coffee every morning and to have tea at night. The beds were ok, not soft… not a rock. The sheets were clean and crispy white (there is just something about white sheets). The dresser (and other furniture) was on their last days and need to be replaced. I just took it in stride since I know they are making an effort to remodel and I had requested to be on the first floor.
The AMAZING staff:
The front desk staff (Ms. Sandra at night and Ms. Theresa and Ms. Elvia in the mornings) were AWESOME. They were always so professional, helpful, and super pleasant. We were always greeted or waved when they saw us. They always went the extra step to help is with whatever we needed. Ms. Sandra even went out of her way one night to find us a deck of cards to play with when we needed a way to unwind after a long day. This kind of service is so hard to find these days. I will take great service over an updated room every time.
Business Center:
There is a business center located right by the front desk. With 3 computers and a printer available we never had to wait to get something done.
Pool/​Jacuzzi:
The pool/​jacuzzi courtyard area was well landscaped and concealed from the activity of the city. It was too cold to get into the pool but it looked nice and clean. We did use the jacuzzi several nights. It’s was a perfect thing after a long day at the show. It was dirty one night but it had been windy that day so I think it was just debris from the landscaping in the courtyard.
Guest Laundry:
There are plenty of washers and dryers to accommodate several guests who may need to wash at one time. Or like me, need to wash two loads and had the convenience of being able to wash both at the same time.
Gym:
We didn’t have the energy or time to visit the gym. But it looked decent every time we walked past it to get to the jacuzzi. There are treadmills indoors and there are a couple outdoor treadmills just outside of the gym area partially blocked from the elements with a glass pane. The idea is good and if I had more energy I would’ve taken one of those outdoor treadmills for a spin.
All in all, we will definitely stay here again. I can’t wait to see what it will be like when they are further into their remodeling.

Kinda old hotel. More like a motel, if it wasn’t a hotel. But it had all the amenities you’ll need for a nice stay. There’s a bar/​restaurant downstairs which had a comedy show happening so they closed it— only for those who bought tickets, so I didn’t get to try out the bar. Hmm, but there were no laughter emitting from that room.
The breakfast served at their open court downstairs was really nice.

OK, it’s old and shows its age but it’s a real suite with a sitting room and a bedroom. Very roomy and comfortable. The bed is comfy, the shower is good and the Wi-​Fi is solid. The atrium is beautiful and a great place to have a very decent comp breakfast. All for around $ 70? I’ll be back.

We had our annual holiday party here and as far as a place to have a gathering this place was very nice (we did not stay there).
The staff was very friendly and everything was very clean.
The only down fall was the food. It was good but not great for the price my company paid for. They said that the chef made the pastries but there is no way (specifically the tiny one bite cakes, I have bought the exact same ones in the store).
Overall the location, staff and atmosphere was great!

I’ve stayed here twice now. The rooms are fairly comfortable and spacious enough — especially for the price. The location is moderately convenient (even more so when there’s a free shuttle — a la Tucson Beer Festival).
Staff was pleasant. Quick response on an extra towel request and friendly greetings across the board.
Check-​in has yet to go quickly. Seems there’s always a line and it goes somewhat slow. Breakfast smells waaaaay better than it tastes! Items didn’t hold heat from the buffet to the table and one lone guy working the omelet/​waffle station made for more long lines. :(
A word of caution: we realized when we went down for breakfast that our door didn’t lock. Be sure to give that a check before you get too comfortable!

Carrie B and I had similar experiences for similar reasons :). I too made my way over to Viscount for traffic school. The entryway is pretty happening and the atrium (like others have Unilocaled) is expansive. I sort of felt like I was in a run down Miami hotel just based on the size and the fact that everything was bigger than it needed to be. Breakfast smells amazing, I mean really amazing, but I was there to learn the ways of the road, not eat. Our meeting room was pretty small and unusually warm considering you could hear the AC going. Lighting was great, and I noticed there were strings of Christmas lights tacked around the perimeter of the room. It was fine for what it was, but I can’t see renting space for anything to fancy pants.
Know Before You Go: Plenty of parking but it’s not all to close to the main entry.
