Walgreens

This review is of Walgreens partly as a whole with some particular branches in mind. Mainly the location on Broadway and Jessica, and the one on Broadway and Swan. Both are near my home and the two I use to fill my prescriptions.
As a company, I am not particularly fond of Walgreens. It is overpriced and poorly run. It is only a matter of convenience I go to the stores at all. When I was a drinking man, I’d frequent several locations due to their wide selection and the fact that liquor and cigarettes are some of the few items Walgreens carries that aren’t outrageously expensive. Other products like soda, snacks and toiletries are up to 400% higher than they are at other stores. When I lived in New Orleans and didn’t have s car, I was forced to use Walgreens as a emergency grocery store and wasted a great deal of money.
The service at Walgreens is, on the whole, awful. In recent years they seem more interested in ensuring their employees «welcome» you to their stores rather than serve you in a timely manner. There never seems to be enough cashiers and the ones they DO have are rarely any good at their jobs. You can never find a manager when you need one and help of any kind is hard to find. When you do find an employee they hardly ever know where anything is and aren’t in any hurry to help. I understand that the owners of this company largely aren’t concerned with much else than getting a customer’s money, but it would be nice if they’d at least train their team to appear to give s damn. Now on to the pharmacy.
The pharmacy department at these stores are a bit of a mystery. Once again, they are rarely of any help and the inconsistency in pollack between different locations is staggering. For instance, the Walgreens nearest my home is extreme poorly run so I avoid it at any cost. I usually drive a little further down the road just to get a little more respectful service. I have recently had a surgery and require pain medication to be refilled on a weekly basis. I stopped goin to my neighborhood location after being told that they were out of the medicine I needed and could not be bothered with assisting me in finding a store that had what I needed. I, then traveled down Broadway from the one on Swan to the one on Jessica as I usually get more polite service there. The last three times I went to the Jessica store, they informed me that my refill would likely take several hours before it was ready when at other stores it usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. After a few disappointing afternoons spent waiting in severe pain, I had no choice but to return to the Swan location to endure horrible Treatment… but I at least got my refill in 5 or 6 fewer hours.
I am getting tired of thinking about Walgreens so my review is over. I’d switch to CVS but sadly they no longer Carry tobacco for some ridiculous reason and Walgreens is much closer.

Stay away from this place. The pharmacy tech, Nick, is unprofessional, doesn’t seem to know what he is doing, and doesn’t appear to care about his job. It is really unfortunate that this is the closest ²⁴⁄₇ pharmacy to TMC.
Again, don’t waste your valuable time with this place.

SERIOUSLY. Least helpful employees of all time. It’s one thing if the teenagers that work here don’t care, but when the manager is called and is so rudely indifferent to a problem that his failure to be a leader to his employees caused is when people get pissed.
Also, insanely high prices compared to the CVS next door. Do yourself a favor and steer clear. There’s a Walgreens on every corner anyway, save the hassle and go to a different one if need be.

This is the only Walgreen’s in town where you can rent medical equipment. Why on earth, do they not have more of these locations. It is a totally fancy pants Walgreens, making all the other Walgreens sad. It’s a drug store, medical supply shop, wellness clinic and a mini market.
This is a great place if you need to rent a hospital grade breast pump. I selected the Medela Symphony– which I feel should be given to every new mother. Why BCBS won’t pony up the money infuriates me, but I digress. It is truly the Bentley of pumps complete with it’s $ 2,225 price tag. At Walgreens, you pay around $ 70 a month. They will call you multiple times to remind you to renew or turn in your pump. They are always very patient and there is a grace period for your renewal. They even have the pump parts kit, which is convenient to pick up.
This Walgreens saved our breastfeeding journey.

Wow, this is the SLOWEST Walgreens I’ve ever been to. Ever. I went in to Walgreens in the middle of the night to get a prescription filled and the pharmacy staff is SO SLOW. Like molasses or sloths.
I waited in line behind a man who was waiting to get a prescription. He waited about 30 minutes as the pharmacist assured him once again that it would «take a minute.» Not. The man was frustrated and I was frustrated just watching him wait. And this was before I even got to the counter.
I waited about 20 – 30 minutes for the pharmacy tech to enter my insurance information into the computer. It was far too complicated and technical and he kept trying and re-​trying to enter the information. Fail.
If it’s daylight, I will only return to the efficient and friendly Walgreens on Swan and Sunrise. They know what they’re doing, unlike this Walgreens.

I’m not a big fan of Walgreen’s in general. I get better deals for over the counter goods at Walmart. But we were trying to get our flu shots albeit the high dose for older folks. Checked all the Walgreen’s and lo and behold no one seems to have the high dose. I was able to speak to my local Walgreens and the young lady was very nice and checked on her own which Pharmacy might have what I was looking for. In a few minutes she got back to me and told me that this particular store had the dose we needed. She told them to put two aside and away we went. The two gentlemen behind the desk were so nice and helpful because naturally there was a problem with the insurance company getting the verification. They both worked so hard to solve this «glitch» and finally we got our shots. We couldn’t be happier. Thanks to both guys for their help and to the young lady at Sunrise and Swan who did the footwork.

The healthcare clinic is a JOKE!!! Even if you check in an hour before they close it’s not a guarantee that they will see you. I wish O can give then 0 stars but we have to give it something. There was 3 people ahead of and the FNP on duty calls one back then she comes back to the lobby and says she might not be able to see the rest of the ones signed in. So one of the other clients left and now just my daughter. Well then this lady comes in saying she was told to come this clinic but she doesn’t even sign in. The provider still has one patient in the room, now averagely a visit is 20 – 25 mins, well the FNP see’s the person for 45 mins. WTH its the same person are you asking the same questions just to buy time?!? So finally they get out of the room and she see’s the person who just shows up and then comes and tells me, «so you guys decided to stay, well I cant see her anymore and Im closed» ARE YOU SERIOUS? But you’re going to see the other person that shows up and not sign in?!? Ugh!!! Wasted an hour and half of our time!!! Never again! Now if she said if Im not out by 715pm then I wont be able to see then Id be more understanding! Bunch of BS Walgreens healthcare clinic!!! Should have better time management!

Centrally located and convenient, I like this particular Walgreens the best. It is one of the more modern, updated stores they have. Well organized and clean. Most importantly, I don’t feel like I am going to get mugged or accosted by people hanging around outside like most in this town & the pharmacist is actually helpful and friendly! Very contrary to my experience at most Walgreens (the one at speedway & craycroft is another one with really great pharmacy staff)… If I can’t find something elsewhere in town while shopping, I can pretty much depend on them having it.
Drive thru is a bit of a longer wait than I care for but during those hot summer days I don’t mind much as I can stay nice and cool in my car, listening to the radio while I wait.

For all the small things in life and for all my RX i will always go to walgreens. The staff is always nice and the prices are good.

Walking into this Walgreens I was taken aback. I had not been in since it’s been remodeled. The interior is bright and clean and they have lots of stuff you would not expect to find.
They have ready to eat foods like: sushi, salads, sandwiches, wraps, fruit bowls and such. Heat and eat foods like enchiladas and chicken Tikka Masala. I don’t know that I am likely to try sushi or hot food from a Walgreens, but they have it here if you want it.
They, of course, have everything else you would expect to find in a Walgreens, including a wall of booze, a pharmacy and a Take Care Clinic.
This Walgreens is close to home. I pass it all the time. I may have given it short shrift in the past. Maybe I need to open my narrow mind and just let myself try drugstore sushi.

I have to get Walgreens a 5 because this location really saved me on New Year’s. It was the worst New Year’s ever for me, because I spent it with a staph infection. And being New Years eve and day, I had no idea they would be open. I saw my doctor on the 31^st and he had to cut– and the pills I needed were available only at this nearby 24-​hour Walgreens. It never closed, ever!
So I spent my evening inside the warmth of the building, already battling a bad cold, and in enormous pain from my staph infection. Walgreens filled the drugs for me, and while I was there, I was able to get food (with a huge selection of sandwiches and even sushi. sushi?).
This is a Walgreens on steroids (although I’m sure they would deny it!) there is a machine you can check on the progress of your prescriptions with, and all kinds of gadgets, medical devices, and foods and drinks and booze. This is the Walgreens of the future, and I like it. I went both days, and considering how bad my mood was– being sick and having a bad infection on my hand, Walgreens actually lifted my spirits. Or maybe it was the Vicodin: o)

Grand re-​opening today!
I love this Walgreen’s! It is so clean and nice. Plus I got my coffee there this morning I know what was I thinking? Actually it was pretty good!
Plus I can always find what I am looking for with no problem!

The microwave did it! When it takes 3 – 5 minutes to heat up a yummy meal in a box, you get the idea everything should take 3 – 5 minutes. So, when the Pharm asst said I had to wait 30 minutes for my meds I thought Id drop dead of hunger.
It was a lovely January afternoon so I walked the ½ mile from the dentist office to the drugstore. By the time I got there the bowl of cereal from 7:30 am was long gone & I was advised it would take ½ hour to prepare my meds. There’s several fantastic options for lunch in the area but, none of them were ½ hour options so I waited & shopped. I must have been in all out shopaholic mode because I didn’t hear my name called. I did check in with the Pharm asst after 35 minutes and my meds were ready. How much? And that’s with the Pharm discount card?
This is where the lost star went. This discount card has been a little crazy. You’re suppose to get credit for buying «Walgreen’s» products. Then when you buy stuff you swipe your card the credits are applied to your purchase. Plus the pharmacy is to automatically know you have the card and the discount applied. The Pharm assit didn’t know if the discount had been applied when she advised the amount of my meds. Plus evidently my card is to expire next month. I renewed it this month because I could do it for $ 5 instead of $ 20. Sale ending the day I was there.
Other than the discount card issue everyone was very helpful and friendly. I received an appropriate amount of «please don’t steal anything smiles & offers of help» while I shopped.
Not a good idea to hit the Pharm if you’re hungry because evidently the lunchroom with microwave is nearby. While I was waiting for the Pharm assit to figure out if I received the card discount, we smelled something yummy that was ready to eat in 3 – 5 minutes.
