Babies R US the Baby Superstore

When you walk into the Tukwila BRU there is a big sign that says if you can’t find what you’re looking for please ask a sales associate for help, so I did and the person that helped me was rude and condescending. I simply asked her to locate a few items for me and she was irritated that I asked for her help. You’re PAID to HELP customers locate items and provide friendly service. I will no longer shop at this location, because their customer service is horrible.
* If you must purchase something from Babies R Us, I suggest the Tacoma location (far drive but you will definitely get better service) or just order it on their website.

I’ve been coming to this site pretty frequently lately since I live nearby, I’m expecting, and made a registry there. I haven’t had one particular situation that inspired this review, but it seems that there is a pattern happening that I observe every time. I really just wanted to voice my opinion because they are just such a mess when it comes to customer service. This includes lack of help and staff, unfriendly staff, long lines, contradictory information from staff, and just general disorder in the store. There are a multitude of issues that I constantly see whenever I go there. This store has pretty terrible aspects in all areas and the prices aren’t reasonable enough to make it worth the bad service… makes me want to cancel my registry and go across the street to Buy Buy baby instead, despite that it is more expensive. :(

Backstory — 15 months ago I purchased a crib from this store (Baby Cache Montana crib, in Driftwood color). It’s a convertible crib, that you can change to a toddler bed and then a regular bed, by purchasing the toddler guardrail and then the bedrails for regular bed. The toddler rail — «discontinued» or «not available for purchase» for the last 15 months.
I contacted Baby Cache — discovered they were working on getting toddler rails made. From the manufacturer’s representative I was notified when the rail came through customs, when it arrived at Baby Cache’s warehouses and when they notified Babies R Us corporate (⁵⁄₂₈) to turn the item on for special ordering.
When contacting the store, between ⁵⁄₂₉ and ⁶⁄₈ the item is still being told to me is «discontinued» and «cannot be ordered». Despite being told the furniture supervisor calls «daily» on availability of this item.
As a side note — one Babies R Us representative, when looking this up a few months ago for me, mentioned «well this is what you get for ordering the most popular crib in the most popular color» and «just get a bunch of body pillows to put on floor». UM no. You sold me a product (only available in your store) that was able to convert to todder/​full bed. You should support your most popular product! Or at least stop selling it as a «convertible» crib if you cannot get the parts for it.
Second note — Baby Cache as a company has been FABULOUS. They respond to my emails promptly, they even called my local store to tell them how to order the item. End of story — got my special order toddler rail ordered, received promptly (thanks to Baby Cache!)

Shockingly terrible customer service by the manager. Do not go here. I went here and was scolded for asking questions about my registry.

Had a terrible time with the gift registry and the employees didn’t help with it at all. Had to ask 3 different people to get an answer. The checkout was OK

I only go in when I get my Rewards certificate that I want to use towards an item that I need. Some of their items are overpriced, and others that are priced well.
I have no problem shopping here if I do not need help. BUT, if you do need help, the staff here is lackluster. You can find the ladies towards the back near the highchairs chit-​chatting about their life, which employees they hate, and how much work they need to do. The last part is funny because during the one hour I was there, this older lady wearing glasses spent majority of the time talking away to a younger gal. Didn’t bother to move their cart while clogging up the aisles.
Oh, and one more thing, the manager here has NO IDEA about what it entails about opening up a Babies R Us credit card. The cashier asked me if I wanted to open one, and I asked what was the benefits of having one? She didn’t know how to reply and called her manager over. He had no clue and told me to go home and look it up online. Forget it buddy…

DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT order furniture from Babies R Us and have it delivered to your house! We ordered a $ 500 crib and $ 600 dresser and paid $ 200 in shipping to have the dresser arrive completely damaged. Then I called to have them replace it and they offered me $ 20?!? What the heck? I said no so they shipped a new one and the second arrived even more damaged than the first. We are on attempt three and they said the dresser would be delivered today and gave us a shipping confirmation and no dresser is here so when I called to find out what was going on they said that the last customer service person never finished processing the order so we now will not have the dresser for another 7 – 14 days. Worse customer service EVER!!!

I’m writing a quick review cause i was disappointed to hear people had such bad experiences. I have a 4 month old baby girl and have taken alot of things back. Most things all still in packages. They give me the cheapest price (which I think that’s what they are supposted to do?)
But I wanted to give them Kudos because I bought something 5 months back, took it out of the packaging (it was a window valance that i decided not to use for baby’s room) and had no receipt, no packing for it, didnt even buy it at THAT babies r us and they STILL took it back and gave me gift card for it.
Thanks guys, it was expensive and i used the $$ on a different product.

I called into the store to ask a quick question about the baby crib I just purchased. The employee Ashley who answered showed a lack of customer service. She said, «Sorry, but I can’t help you as the customers here at the store are the priority and if you were here you would be a priority too.» I kindly told her that I live 40 minutes away from the store and if she could answer my question quickly that would save me a trip and save both of us time (rather than have me drive down there in person and stand in line and have them answer my question in person). She put me on hold and went to ask her manager if she could answer my question. She came back to the phone and said her manager told her not to help me with my simple questions. This didn’t make sense to me since the amount of time she took to explain to me why she couldn’t answer my quick question and the amount of time she put me on hold to ask her manager if she could answer my question took about 10 minutes. If she had basic common sense and would have done the math then she would have listened to my question and quickly gave me a yes or no answer and it would have taken her 1 – 2 minutes. I have a 16 month old child and have spent several thousands of dollars at this Babys R Us location — I have purchased from this store since I found out I was pregnant. I purchased baby clothes, diapers, wipes, formulas, high chair, baby crib etc. etc. on and on at this location. For this employee to tell me that I’m not a priority since I was not physically there at that point of time made me feel has if I had not been a loyal customer. All customers should be treated equal and an employee should never indicate that a customer is not a priority simply because they called in over the phone versus there physical at the store in line. We all spend money — whether it’s ordering online or in person. Even if the employee was swamped with customers in front of her she still needs to learn how to react and how to speak to customers to make them still feel important even when she’s under pressure (if she can’t help the person on the phone then why answer the phone in the first place!) She needs customer service training. I also called the corporate office to share this feedback. I was told they would have someone call me back in a couple of days –it’s been over a week and I haven’t not received a single call back from corporate to address my concern. Going forward, I will just by my diapers, wipes, baby food from Costco and not purchase at Babys R Us. Very disappointed!!!

I have a 6 month old, so I find myself at this store often. I love Target, but they are not solely a baby store and don’t always have everything… so I come here. It never fails… they never have what I need in stock. It’s always basics like baby oil (they literally had NONE in any brand), teething tablets, or tylenol. I feel like the prices are higher than other places and I wish they had a better assortment of strollers on display… they have a wide array of extremely expensive ones and not a lot in the more moderate price ranges. I know I could order online, but I would rather see something like a stroller in person before purchasing it. I opted to register at Target when I had my baby, so I can’t vouch for their registry procedures. I really don’t like this store at all, but since it is the only store of its kind in this area, I will keep going back. The Lynnwood location is much better… it is solely a Babies R Us (and not a Toys R Us too) so their selection is WAY better. I try to go there when I can, but that doesn’t happen often.

So I like the Babies R Us chains. i can find a lot of the things I need and I am able to touch and make sure that they are what I want.
This location is large and has a good stock, but it seems like it can be very disorganized and not well maintained. I think the though the Bellevue location is smaller is is better organize and Lynnwood is better stocked.
But like I said I do like this store and i come here when there are things I need. I like that you can check online before you go to see if an item is available that way you don’t waste time driving out there with a little one only to find out they don’t have what you are looking for.

After the birth of my daughter, this place has become a regular store I visit often. I mostly come here to buy items not found in other big box stores and their prices are higher than essentials like Gerber baby food and diapers, so I buy those at other locations. I like coming here browsing the store for neat items for sale, but I think most of the stuff are overpriced. Sometimes, when I’m looking for an item, I get overwhelmed with the choices. It’s like a 100 different bottles and nipples to choose from. Being a dad, it can be very daunting to shop without mom.

Maybe I’m just not used to giant stores geared to selling synthetic garbage to kids, but this place was a nightmare.
I went to pick up an item I had bought online off a registry (after receiving my confirmation email). When I got there, they said it wasnt in stock after all. If I had known, I could have gone to a much closer Babies R Us to pick up a different item.
They gain a star because they gave me 20% for the mix-​up, but they subsequently lose 3 stars because of the unsupervised children, the quantity of cheaply made dolls dressed in bikinis with ridiculous boob proportions, and the 12 times I was asked if I needed help finding anything.
This store has nothing useful that other stores dont have besides kids who are allowed to scream and wallow on the floor in the middle of aisles, pre-​gnawed-​on toys, impulse buys your kids dont need, and frustrating aisle numbers. Go to Magic Mouse toys or Target… maybe the dump… Anywhere but here!

I came here for one reason: buy a baby shower present. I picked this store because the mommy to be registered here.
I couldn’t find the registry kiosk. I was shown there because the associate was on her way there.
Once it printed I had a hard time finding the aisle it mentioned.
Stuff was decently priced. They had a wide selection of baby gear but I didn’t sift through the merchandise. I stuck with the list.

We’re having our 2^nd baby and I refuse to purchase any of my baby needs from Babies R Us.
First, you can find many of the same items elsewhere for a lot less.
Second, the customer service is horrible. The employees have a way of making you feel as though you’re bothering them with questions. I walked into this store recently prepared to buy another expensive baby item, but forgot my reward coupon at home (the one and only reward coupon I ever received). I asked an employee if they could access my coupon on their computer system — flat out «nope, you need to bring your own coupon in». I later found out from another friend that their Babies R Us WILL print out your coupons for you if needed.
Third, even though I purchased MOST of our first child’s baby gear from Babies R Us (before my eyes were opened), spending literally thousands of dollars, I received exactly ONE coupon, while others boast about receiving coupons after nearly every purchase. I am a rewards member, and I confirmed that the store does have my email and home addresses on file, so not sure why I NEVER receive discount or special promotional event fliers.
To those of you expecting, check out Amazon Mom. I purchased so many of our baby items from them that I received over a year of free Amazon prime (free two day shipping)! Great deals, fast delivery, and free shipping. Save your money by NOT buying from BRU, and put it towards your child’s savings/​college funds!

Unless you have to shop there, avoid Babies R Us. There’s a Buyer Protection Plan scam I would like to talk about.
We bought a breast pump for our newborn and was told by the teenage cashier that for a $ 30 protection plan, if it breaks down, just return it to the store and we’ll replace it. (LIE)
After a week of use, the pump mechanism went on the fritz. So we made a family trip down to Babies R Us to replace it. They told us that the plan is not honored at the store, but at a company that handles the protection plans (National Product Care Company (NPCC), based in Glenview, Ill.,) and that we had to register with that company to file a claim. When we first purchased it, we were unable to register the plan since we were never able to get hold of a human.
Then we were told that we would have had to purchase another pump ($ 250) and then contact the plan to get the money refunded for the second pump. (ANOTHER LIE)
Once reading the plans minute fine print, I learned that you actually have to contact them, then they would send a label to ship the defective pump (at your cost) to them for either repairs or a refund AT THEIR DISCRETION… and only AFTER any manufacturers warranty expires… There are various complaints about refusal to refund.
There are also more than a few complaints about the pan regarding never getting a label to ship the product back. They will not refund unless you ship it back. And more complaints about taking so long to help you that the plan expires and then not help you at all.
Fortunately, my wife began crying, so a kind employee just switched it out under the table. Their policy is no returns on any pumps that have been used and that if she did put the return in the system, we would have had to pay the difference since it is no longer on sale.
The understanding employee is the only reason that this place got 1 star.

Classic box store, except it’s not impossible to find an employee to help and the customer service has been pretty good. Don’t buy everything on the first trip, because once you start shopping there they’ll mail you coupons that can save you beaucoup bucks.
It’s funny to see men in this store. I’ve seen so many guys walking around with glazed-​over eyes and an irritated expression. You’re in women’s territory, guys, so stop by the Starbucks next door to load up on your favorite stimulants and, if necessary, stop by the gliders against the back wall to put up your feet while you think about how your life is never going to be the same.
They could do a better job of catering to men, but then, 95% of the shoppers are women – either by themselves or dragging a man along. I’d love to see a section devoted to Dads, that could help guys imagine all the manly possibilities. (Ultimate Fighter bib, anyone?)
Final tip: if they don’t have what you want in-​store, just call the internet number. Tell them you have a coupon but you lost it; they will hook you up, and if it’s a big-​ticket item, you can probably get free shipping, too.

Customer service is severely lacking at this place. I asked someone where I could print out the list of gifts for a friend’s baby registry and she simply pointed me over to the kiosk which was neither clearly marked nor user friendly. Another lady who came in to ask about the registry was helped very differently by another woman who chose to print out the pages for her instead of simply pointing her in a general direction to the kiosk.
Also, while browsing the store utterly confused because I was unfamiliar with the layout, no one opted to help me find what I was looking for. They simply looked the other way so they couldn’t see the dazed and confused look on my face. The only person who had any sense of kindness was the cashier, but she might have been high.

A pretty frightening place overall. I stopped in to register for the impending Baby Betsey S. and luckily, I had all day. The amount of Stuff for children was staggering. And being new at this, I have no idea what I really need and what’s just a gimmick.
No one, other than the lady at the registry counter, offered to help me. The stock, compared to what is online, is very spotty, and so there’s a pretty big disconnect between what is available in the various stores and what’s available online. Makes registering tough.
Like April said, most things are made in China (that was how I ended up registering: if it was made somewhere other than China, I registered for it) and I try to avoid that stuff at all costs.
They get one star just for existing and having some things that people do need for children. The other star is for their giant, clean restrooms. They do understand what pregnant women need.
I needed ice cream after I left, due to the obvious trauma sustained. Luckily, Cold Stone is in the same strip mall.

It’s incredibly hard to find baby gifts in the downtown region. But I needed to find a gift for a friend. So I checked the online registry but it was impossible to find anything in stock. Apparently they had a falling out with Amazon and now nothing can stay in stock for online orders. Bummer.
So I had to trudge down to find the store. Lots of baby stuff but no idea what to buy. Thankfully they have a gift section and you can print up the registry in store. But honestly I didn’t like the limited selection.
Good enough, but nothing special.
