I can’t really put my finger on why I didn’t like this place. Maybe it was calling to make my appointment? Maybe it was the customer service I was greeted with? Maybe it was the vibe I got from the doctor? When calling to make my appointment, the girl I spoke with was more concerned about what was going on around her then on the phone. Either help the customer in front of you and put your phone caller on hold, or ask the person to wait and take the call; when you are speaking to two people in two different locations, it makes it really difficult when I don’t know if you are asking me or someone else a question. And don’t get snarky with me if I don’t respond, sorry, I didn’t know you were talking to me. When I came in for my appointment, it felt really unorganized. There were two girls working, one was making calls and the other was greeting patients. The one on the phone was crazy loud, and the one trying to talk to me was super quiet. I had to continuously ask her«what» because I couldn’t hear over the girl on the phone. They didn’t smile or even look you in the eye when they spoke to you. I was quickly taken to do the first few tests outside of the exam room. That didn’t take long. The optometrist gave me a weird vibe, I don’t know what it was. I felt like she was talking to me as if I was a child, in a tone that I am doing everything wrong. I don’t know… she just made me uncomfortable. Couldn’t get any contacts today cause I don’t have a Costco membership; but will be taking my prescription elsewhere to get some. Probably will not be back; customer service was no good.

Absolutely horrible customer service. If you like waiting for ages and having appointments arbitrarily canceled to save five dollars, maybe it’s worth it to you. Me, I’d recommend going any place else. Really there’s not much more to say. The eye doctor is bad, the service is bad, the experience is bad, there’s better ways to save money. Low cost doesn’t have to be «cheap» but here it is, and you’re not saving much.

Insanely busy on weekends, but one of the cheapest options in town for contacts. Lightest crowds are mid-week during the day, if you can swing it. Fridays are the worst day of the week and should be avoided. Heading there during a Seahawks game, though sacrilegious, means you will be served promptly. The eye doctor does not take VSP(???), but the eyeglass and contact counter does. I’ll never know why, but it’ll save you some grief knowing this ahead of time. Dropping off an Rx takes about 10 minutes total if you have VSP, even for first-time customers. Not bad compared to most other places. Must have Costco card and AMEX. Will return.

I have to wait for at least an hour ever since I went there even if just 1 – 2 customers ahead of me. The tall black optician is so rude and impatient that it’s like I own him money. He can’t adjust the new frame I got there but

It takes FOREVER to be taken care of here. I order my contacts from Costco out of convenience as I am here often. But It always takes me an HOUR of waiting to order contacts or pick up contacts. They just let people stand around for literally an hour. They need more staff or a better system to serve people. Costco also will not let you order online or over the phone unless you use their American Express card. So unless you have that specific card you have no way to order in a less time consuming way. Get it together Costco, you are the master of efficient systems. Don’t overlook your eye department.

I am very impressed with the optical dept at Costco. I am at a point where I need to get two pairs of glasses — one for reading, one for distance.(Sad, but true.) Costco affords me a great selection of frames at very reasonable prices. They offer a special where, if you are buying two pairs of glasses for the same person at the same time, you get $ 25 off the second pair. My purchase was eligible for this discount even though each of the two pairs I was buying was for a different prescription. Very cool. I received and started wearing the new reading glasses, but was still having some eye strain. My doctor rewrote the prescription and Costco replaced the original lenses with the new ones at no charge to me. Again, very cool. All the staff I have encountered in the optical dept have been very friendly and knowledgeable and professional. My glasses have generally been ready for pickup within a week of placing my order. I will definitely be returning here when new glasses are again needed and I would fully recommend them to others.
