History
Established in 1954.
Garton Tractor’s roots originated in 1953 when William Cornforth purchased the Ford tractor dealerships in Modesto and Turlock. Bill Cornforth’s son-in-law, Vernon (Bud) Garton, was assigned managerial duties.
In 1957, the two dealerships were sold to Bud and Leonard Garton. Garton Tractor soon met rapid growth after expanding to the current Golden State Boulevard location in 1969.
In 1990, Ford Motor Company sold it’s agricultural division to Fiat, ushering in the New Holland brand era. New Holland merged with Case in 1999 creating Case New Holland.
Today, Garton Tractor, Inc. is still family-owned and operated. Bill, Tom, Ben, Grant and Drew Garton continue to conduct business with the same core values of honesty, integrity, and mutual respect established four generations ago.
