How «Don» stays in business, is a mystery to everyone in the neighborhood… Worst customer service ever, crappy selection etc. — basically the same thing every Unilocal reviewer says. He must’ve opened the business in the 70s, owns it outright, and therefore doesn’t have to worry about it closing from lack of business. Or, he’s got a grandfathered lease deal from the city of Tustin with a super low rent — & THAT’S why he doesn’t have to worry about it closing from lack of business. For whatever reason, don’t waste your time or money going here. The Path bike shop down the road, has incredible selection, great prices, friendly knowledgeable staff, that will help you with anything you need. Seriously — go there instead…

Don’t bother to come here… The mechanics are rarely there to service your ride. Also, the atmosphere feels kind of empty and unwelcome.
I was walking around the store with my friend (this was around August 2014) and I noticed there were no price tags on most bikes and products. I did not bother to ask the owner (Chris) because I was looking around and I expected a mechanic to be present so I can ask him or her to adjust my disc brake pad alignment. This is when I just arrived, he was talking angrily on the phone to someone which made our visit very awkward. A few minutes later as my friend and I were looking around he came out and just asked, «What’re you doing here?» I replied, «Looking around.» He replied, «If you aren’t going to buy anything, then get out.»
Okay, that’s just plain RUDE. I would’ve actually bought something I needed in the future there if he was nicer and presentable!
I left the shop immediately without a word and to this day, I never came back. Now this shop is on my petty jokes list.

High prices, rude staff, bad service!!! Stay away. You will get ripped off if you buy anything from here.

On my way back to work and wanted to stop by Santiago to pick up some Co2 cartridges. Since they don’t open until 11:00 i walked over to Don’s. Out comes the old man from the back and i proceed to ask him if they carried any. They did and i asked how much, $ 15 for two… just no thank you! His attitude was not very pleasant and i seemed to be bothering him. I tried to make small talk and asked a few other questions but i was so put off by his attitude i felt like he could care less in trying to earn my business. I would not recommend going here.

So I went into the shop with me and my friend within about five or 10 minutes I was approached by an older white man he had long way there he then proceeded to Yell me and my friend and I mean yell. He told us that if we’re not going to buy anything then get out of the shop LOL I thought he was joking at first and then he became more serious I literally walked out of the store two doors down to Santa Iago bike shop and receive the best service

Never come here unless you like overpriced bikes and a I’ll mannered man behind the counter. Came in and quoted me 5 $ for a junk part came in again to buy it for a project only to have him ask 12 $ now. Whatever I payed it and he offered me advice on how to never get married and that everyone sucks exc exc. bitter man with a bad practice of gouging the customer because it’s impossible for him to get any business at all through the door.

A joke of a shop. The owner/​employee old guy is rude, impatient and snobby. Which is perplexing considering his shop being in direct competition with Santiago and the path. In short this place has a shitty product and is staffed by an asshole. Go to the path.

Hey you pony tailed freak thanks again for being such worthless d-​bag. The bike store 2 shops down were extremely nice and knowledgable. It appears based on your poor demeanor high prices and lack of product, you will be soon closed. I will welcome this day and encourage everyone to never visit your garbage landfill you call a bike store.

Let’s put it this way, after my first experience with this bike shop, we refer to the customers of this business as «victims.» Go next door to Santiago Cycling, or to The Path.
Worst customer service I’ve ever had — no kidding. I had to sit in the car afterwards and explain to my 8-​year old that he just experienced a textbook «how» and «why» a business loses a customer. Awkward attitude by the guy behind the counter. Pricing an item 3x more than the same item at «The Path» and then refusing to take a debit card because of the Visa fees? Really?
Sooooo glad I didn’t spend any money in there. My family speculates how that shop actually stays in business. Drive by it, have you ever seen cars in it’s parking lot? Curious indeed…

The ahole that owns this shop is a bonafied co*k sucker. I was employed by this jerk for a couple years back in the 80’s. Arrogant and condescending just to name a couple. Words cannot describe this colossal douche. After reading the terrible reviews, I just had to jump on the band wagon. NEVER give any of your hard earned money to this chauvinistic pig. After being a dedicated hard working employee, I was accused of stealing toilet paper and paper towels and then promptly fired. I have never know anybody as evil as this man. There is a special place reserved in hell for you!

Okay, if all the reviews of this place are 1 star AND reviewers STILL feel compelled to write yet another 1 star review, you’ve gotta believe that something’s up.
My SO is a cyclist so we decided to check this place out. Literally the SECOND we stepped half a foot into this shop, a man standing behind the counter (Don?) screamed and told us that drinks or food were not allowed in the store and to keep the cup by the counter. Our cup was empty, but we followed his orders. We should have walked out then, but proceeded to take a look around inside. After he finished talking to his pal at the counter & we were on our way out, he started talking to us — his questions and remarks were very off & left us feeling offended and unwelcome.

Rude! I went into see if my boys liked any of the bikes there and the man told us to come back when we were ready to buy, they don’t like browsers. I wanted to give my money to a mom n pop shop but forget that, I rather give it to walmart now. It is sad how they much they suck at customer service skills. I would think he would be nice and extra helpful. I can’t even believe this store is still in business

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. This was the most horrendous, awful experience I’ve ever had in a store and I worked in retail!
I realized the bolt on my handlebar stem was stripped and I could no longer tighten it using an Allen wrench. I went in (without my bike) to ask what my options were. The guy with a ponytail was curt and bordering rude, but explained that he wouldn’t be able to swap one in, but that I’d need to bring my bike in so he could pop out the wedge and put a new bolt and wedge in. I was satisfied with that, as I didn’t want to replace the whole stem so I brought it in.
I dropped my bike off a couple days later, explained once again that the bolt was stripped and I wanted to replace the bolt. My handlebars were loose (because the bolt can’t be tightened and because it’s easier to get my bike in the car when I can move them). He said no problem, he’d take care of it and it should be ready tomorrow.
I came to pick up my bike and my bike was sitting in front of the store WITH THE SAME BOLT TIGHTENED INTO MY HANDLEBARS. I pointed out that this was the same bolt and he said «I didn’t charge you for parts». WHAT??? You charged me $ 18 to tighten my handlebars with the same faulty/​stripped bolt that I paid to have replaced! WHAT. THE. HECK. I pointed this out (trying to remain calm, when I really wanted to cut that STUPID ponytail off and hit him with him) and he said, and I quote «too bad». After a bit of arguing and a bit of telling him exactly what I thought of him (telling, yelling– same thing, right?) I had no choice but to leave– completely ripped off and charged for literally nothing.
This guy is a total jerk, a scam artist and an all around horrible person. If Unilocal would allow it, I’d use the language I really feel. I wish I’d read Unilocal before taking my bike there. Pretty much every review is dead on. Take your money and business elsewhere. I honestly have no idea how he stays in business. I wanted to support local business and give this guy the benefit of the doubt. Turns out, he doesn’t deserve it. Worst experience I’ve ever had in a retail store. Lesson learned.

WORST Customer service ever! They’re listed as a Schwinn dealer and even call themselves «Don’s Schwinn Cyclery» — yet the salesman (grey haired man with a ponytail) told me that Schwinn’s were terrible quality bikes then proceeded to ask me if I wanted a Schwinn «Because my daddy wouldn’t buy me one when I was a little girl». He continued insulting me and wouldn’t even direct me to bikes in the style I was looking for.

Don’t bother. Never meet a worse salesman in my life. Should be a negative star!

First, I think the guy with the ponytail is Don. he claims he works there but didn’t seem to act like the owner. He’s curt, not very interested in helping you, and when my wife went in for a follow-​up visit to consider a bike he told her to have her husband come in an help her. Wow… that’s pretty rude and offensive to women. Sorry folks… Don’s should be «gones»…

Unfortunately I have to give at least 1 star… the service doesn’t deserve it. Went in for a tune up and the old man insulted my bike! I have no idea how this guy stays in business. Try the path down the street… they are AWESOME and they know their stuff!

Went in the other day, looking to see if they had gumwall/​skinwall tires for my old BMX. The guy there, assuming it’s Don, told me that they don’t make gumwall/​skinwall tires anymore for BMX bikes. Ok, I guess he wasn’t trying to conduct any business with anyone that day, so I left. Not much help there. So if you’re looking for something there, don’t ask, ‘cuz they don’t make it anymore :(.

Want crappy service, rude comments, unfriendliness all at one time? Avoid this place at all costs!

This is by far the absolute worst experience I have ever had in a retail store. A few friends and I stopped in here since we all needed a few things. All together we probably were prepared to drop around 150 to 200 dollars.
The older man behind the counter immediately asked me get my bike out of his shop. I brought it inside because I thought the cranks seemed to be making a little noise. He comes over to check it out and tells me it is because I converted it to a fixed gear that is what I get for 200 bucks. First off my bike is a 1200 fixed gear it was never converted. I was just amazed by this guy and laughed at him.
My other buddy wanted to check out a bike light that was in the glass case and he then told him he was closed so come back tomorrow. The open sign was on it was 5:45 in the afternoon and the hours on the door said open to 6.
Seriously in this economy I can not believe he would turn down business like that.
Take your business to «The Path» right down the street they have incredible customer service and are super friendly.
