Kanan Design first opened its doors in October, 2005. James Kanan set out to establish a jewelry store that was more personalized and unique. He hand fabricates all of the jewelry and sculptures himself setting himself apart from other jewelry stores. When you design a custom ring whether it be an engagement ring or personal piece of jewelry, you are designing alongside the artist himself which has allowed James to develop a discerning clientele that come to James because they love his work.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

James Kanan is the owner of Kanan Design. He started out at the early age of 14 making jewelry alongside my father in his photography studio in Orange County. He then decided to attend Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles to study sculpture and lost wax casting. He fell in love with sculpting so he decided to attend a workshop in Pietrasanta, Italy where he worked alongside master Italian artist. When he returned he found a job at Gossett Jewelers where he learned more about hand fabrication, stone setting, and wax carving. He then furthered his education in jewelry design by studying under master jeweler Chesco Diaz in Barcelona, Spain. In 2005, after more than 30 years of experience, he established his own jewelry and sculpture gallery in Orange County. He developed a discerning clientele that love coming to James.
