Mutual Propane

Dishonest, Thief, Swindlers — these are all words that come to mind from my experience today at Mutual Propane. I don’t know if they have a new guy working there, but I have NEVER felt so taken advantage of as I do after leaving there. I brought in my propane tank to have it topped off for the weekend and usually I pay them $ 4 or $ 5. After waiting in a line for about half an hour (there were 3 people ahead of me), the guy made a comment about the tank still had some propane in it and then proceeded to fill it. When I handed him a $ 20 bill for what should have been $ 5 in propane, he charged me 3x that! He said they now have a minimum. WHY DIDN’T HE TELL ME THIS BEFORE HE FILLED THE TANK?!? He knew I only needed a couple gallons and when I asked if he could fill my other tank so it would reach the ‘minimum’ he gave me some bull about how he had already closed the ticket and I couldn’t add any more on. ***THEN He started making jokes with the other customer behind me about how he doesn’t run a charity here and that he had to get paid somehow*** Well, Unfortunately that is through cheating their customers and not being upfront with their information. I want to only pay for the propane that they actually give me — pure and simple, honest business practice.
We will NEVER COME BACK!
**And all the «great» reviews on Unilocal are only because they are buying them from their customers by offering a discount when they leave reviews. Totally, completely UNETHICAL and they should be ashamed of themselves.

I read the reviews and tried them today. What a smooth operation. I did not even have to take my two 7 gallon tanks out of my truck bed. There was one guy ahead of me and I still was in and out of there faster than any gas station and the prices were very reasonable. The guy even taught me something in the process. it doesn’t get any better than this.

I usually just go to the gas station or uhaul to get my propane. Those guys are usually never by the propane, and you have to wait for them to get their behinds over to the fill station.
Well I got a brand new spanking 1G tank, and all the reviews talk about bringing it to someplace where they knew what they are doing. So I ruled out both the gas station and uhaul. Did a quick check on Unilocal and I find these guys. Reviews were solid so I decided to roll over.
When I showed them my tiny 1 gallon tank (versus the typical 5 gallon). They said «sorry, we can’t fill that». I’m like why not? They said «they didn’t have enough gas to fill that thing and the people behind me would be PISSED that I took all the gas!!» I started laughing, jokesters. All fun and good.
They purged the new tank, filled it up, paid and left. Easy as pie, and fun guys too. Will be back when my bigger 5 gallon tanks run out!

Is this the very best business in Tustin? Maybe! Friendly, helpful, competent and economical would be apt descriptors. I have a small travel trailer that I use all the time and I’ve been forced to use other companies that dispense propane but, from now on, based on my experience here I’ll ALWAYS use Mutual. If you need propane — for any purpose — go to Mutual. You will not be disappointed.

Have been a customer of years and have always received good prices and service. Filled up 2 nearly empty 20lb tanks with nearly 9 gallons of propane for $ 22. Even in the rain, I was out of there in nearly 5 minutes. I used have to go «inside» to pay via credit card, but they can now ring you up right there. Drive through propane refill!

Hidden gem off the 55 freeway. Easy peasy to get your propane. Drive up in the back of the building, pop your trunk, drop your tanks, and they fill them right up. Once done, put them right back into trunk. Cash Register right there to ring you up and then your on your way to your BBQ or heating up the stand up heaters!

Great people great prices. Jose was all smiles as he went through and filled my tank. Clean, professional, friendly. Plus 15 cents off a gallon to boot when you use the Unilocal coupon. 12 dollars to fill small tank. (Due to min charge of 12 and change) Might not be the cheapest but at least 8 to 10 dollars cheaper than gas stations and avoid the return for old tanks at drugstore or Walmart/​Home Depot. If you are local 5 – 10 mile radius just go here.

I love this place! So convenient to just pull up and get propane filled. Friendly service all the time. $ 12 and change to fill up a regular size bbq tank.

Have been there several times. Went today to fill up two bbq containers. One tank’s fill up is less than the $ 12.42 minimum charge, but still a good price. With two, the price to fill up is an even better deal, cost me $ 18.
Service is so friendly each time. Quick and easy. Don’t know why anyone would ever do exchange.

Reasons to go here:
1. customer service is great. They seem really appreciative of your business.
2. price is the lowest around, by far.
3. easy drive through to pump. Great for large RVs as well as pickups that are towing stuff.
Have been driving past this place for over 10 years. Never stopped in because it looks like a wholesale operation from the street and sits all alone on Edinger at the 55 freeway. However, they will fill any container from a small barbeque size to the largest. There’s a $ 12 minimum fee, which is half the minimum of the gas station I was using before.
Yesterday, I towed my Fleetwood pop up trailer in and found the best place so far to fill up propane in Orange County. First, they have a driveway that wraps around the main building, so I didn’t even have to remove the tanks from the front of my camper — or back the camper around in some small busy gas station like I have in the past.
It cost me $ 18.13 to fill up two small bbq size tanks, which was about 40% less than that awful little gas station charges at Sand Canyon and the 5 freeway. You know, the one that makes you wait about 20 minutes for one of the guys to come out of the store, treat you like you’re a problem, put on rubber gloves, pull out the screw driver and charge you over $ 4 per gallon.
Mutual Propane was a great surprise. «Jose» filled my tanks and his customer service skills and knowledge are excellent. If you’re in a hurry, tell him, because he’s an interesting guy who likes people and can talk. I met «Mike» the manager, who rang up my credit card. Another great custom service experience. Won’t go anywhere else to get propane in the OC. Check it out!

Love Jose he’s amazing and helpful. We’ll be going there to get propane for my motor home, very easy access to get in and out

If I could give this place more stars I would…
First of all, let me just say I’ve never had to fill a propane tank in my life. Growing up my family always did the «exchange» but after reading reviews it seems like owning your own tank and getting it filled is best as with the exchange you could be getting someone else’s problems.
So I went to Lowes and bought my own tank. Now… where to fill it?! I found this place on Unilocal (thank you fellow Unilocalers) I was a little nervous because being a girl I feel like places like this would try to take advantage. Not Mutual Propane!
I drove up, pulled out my tank. The gentleman kindly filled it, took me inside to pay and I was on my way. 5 minutes and $ 12 and change later… that was it. I was done! I was expecting to pay $ 20 – 30 so I was extremely happy when I paid right under $ 13 for a full tank!
Needless to say, I will definitely be back!

This place is awesome. My go to place for filling propane tanks. Great prices, much cheaper than uhaul or gas stations. The gentleman that fills the tanks is really nice and likes to joke around. You can pay cash or credit, but cash is better because you pay at the pump and it saves you a couple minutes. Credit card, they have to fill out a form and you have to go inside. There is a minimum charge, but its way less than one of the tank exchange things, and less than anywhere else that fills tanks that I have found. The place is easy to find, the driveway to enter this place is just before going under the bridge, when heading northbound on Edinger.

I haven’t refilled propane tanks in awhile, but since summer is around the corner, I needed to prepare and fill up some propane tanks for the new BBQ grill I just put together. I’ve always passed by this location not knowing anything about it but Unilocal reviews brought me to this location and I’d like to thank the Unilocalers for their input.
Filling empty propane tanks are simple and a breeze. Stopped by around lunch, one person in front of me filling up 4 tanks, not a problem… waited maybe 7 minutes in my car, pulled up, took my 2 tanks out and 5 min later finished. Walked in, had another person swipe my credit card and done. Both staff were very friendly and asked me how my day was going.
Seems like they’ve been around for awhile with different locations… if you’re in the office, check out the old school picture of their Glendale location next to a modern picture of the same location… I love photography and I thought that was pretty unique to have in their office.
I’d definitely come back and don’t forget Unilocal check in for discount on propane. 2 filled 20lb tanks cost me less than $ 20. YMMV, but that’s what was on my receipt. Let the summer bbq’s begin!!!

I was amazed that this place is so close, easy to get into and out of, friendly and soooo much less expensive than Blue Rhino! I bought my tanks as Sam’s Club so they have fill gauges on them. I was afraid I’d have to give up my gauges by turning them in to Blue Rhino, then pay $ 22 for each «refill».
I was able to drive in, get both tanks filled by a friendly attendant and drive out in less than 10 minutes and only spent $ 12.50! I will certainly be back!

Very efficiently run — quick* and simple. Just drive up and then they fill up your tanks. And great prices, about half the price of Home Depot
*It’s quick long as you’re not behind someone who is bringing 8 tanks to fill.
