We are originally from Austin and were so excited to introduce one of our friends to Torchy’s here in Tyler. We drove all the way from Daingerfield just to visit Torchy’s because we loved it so much in Austin. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to give him the experience we had hoped. The food was decent, but the service was absolutely TERRIBLE. One person in particular. He was a very tall, skinny younger man with brown hair. He was the one who brought our food out. My friend asked for some more chips and he, with a rude tone and attitude, said, «uh yeah as soon as I finish handing the rest of your food out to you.» My friend didn’t respond. The man was finishing handing out our food and my friend(who, let me remind you, had never been to Torchys and didn’t know the portion sizes are rather large) said, «wow, that’s a lot of food,» to which the man replied, an affirmative, «yep.» This whole situation ruined the whole experience and the taste in food didn’t nearly make up for the rudeness. No one in the restaurant was smiling, or seemed to have the slightest idea what customer service even is. There is something VERY wrong going on. If I am going to pay $ 50 for some food, I feel we deserve at least a smile.

Such great tacos, big and affordable. Family friendly and great atmosphere. They also have daily drink specials, yum! Would totally recommend.

As what eventually happens with most Tyler restaurants, the level of service has become atrocious. The last three times I’ve been here, they’ve just completely screwed up our order, or simply forgot to bring certain items to us. When you go back to the counter, they generally have a perplexed, or dumb look about them, and shrug their shoulders, as if it’s the customer’s fault. In addition to the fun you’ll experience with the shitty service, or refusal to bring out your entire food /drink order, the quality has gone into the dumpster as well. I don’t anticipate a return visit. A word to Torchy’s corporate: Welcome to Tyler– home of the shittiest restaurant employees, nationwide. Have fun with the headaches.

I was so excited to see Torchy’s open up in Tyler. We love the Shepherd location in Houston but don’t make it much bc of parking and seating. There is so much seating here! We brought our 2 kids and my son loved his PB Banana Quesadilla. The street corn is my favorite and I love the Baja Shrimp tacos. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town

The tacos are worth it nice portion size for the money. Service needs some work but I believe it just the way it’s set up to operate you don’t get the typical server coming to your table asking you if you need anything you have to flag or hunt them down. If you can overlook that this is the place to go.

This is what you would call«gourmet» tacos. Every combination I have had does not disappoint. Look out of the Taco of the Month to try something new. The queso is also delicious, but compared to other taco joints, I will pass on the corn. If you have had Torchy’s in other cities, this one is just as good.

My go to, fast food. But you need to know a few secrets. 1. Order some chips and queso. 2. The dirty Sanchez on flour is the best 3. Add a $ 1.00 to the tip line on the tab because they will work for you. Overall great fast food with good atmosphere. I love the different selection of fountain drinks. Great place for a light meal and a comfortable place to watch a game on one of the many TV sets.

I seriously want to like this place. I love good tacos and guacamole. They even have a bar! The problem is that about every other time we go they are out of guacamole. Then they are out if chicken or chips. A taco shop cannot be out of guacamole on a Saturday! I hope they get their stuff together soon! If they had better service and where to stop running out of things, then I could give them 4 to 5 stars.

Torchy’s has fantastic tacos and AMAZING queso. This is not a Mexican restaurant where you are going to get nachos and street tacos or enchiladas. Torchy’s is a taco fusion restaurant mixing concepts of street food with unique, fresh ingredients. Some of the reviews here are hilarious! The smallest burrito ever… really? You ordered it with only meat, cheese and sour cream. Telling Torchy’s they need to learn about SoCal burritos«bigger than your face» for $ 4 is laughable. Burritos, Including SoCal burritos, come with more than meat, cheese and sour cream. Hence the«bigger than your face». Burritos typically come with cheese, lettuce, rice, beans, avocado and pico or salsa or both with meat. Almost all of which was not chosen to be on the burrito. As another reviewer said«dairy queen tacos are better». If that is the case, you probably wont like Torchy’s. However, if you are open to new flavors with an old familiarity that are delicious… you’ll love it. Also, if you are offended by the word«Damn» as a curse word… this probably isn’t the place for you… these are DAMN good tacos! Enjoy! PS. Dont miss out on the queso. Prosit!

I get that Torchy’s is an Austin landmark, but this ain’t Austin. Nice place, completely remodeled from the old place so it’s nice inside. Full and fast service as well as happy hours specials. Friendly bartenders don’t match the uncomfortable bar stools for certain. The food was not that good at all. Meat was dry, corn tortillas were dry, and everything had WAY too many onions. Plus $ 4 tacos just doesn’t warrant eating here often — especially when most places during the week offer half off appetizers & other taco spots are cheaper. Keep it in mind for a change of pace.

Rating system: 5 stars — Must try. You’re really missing out if you don’t. I’m either a regular here, repeat patron, or would be if it wasn’t cost or distance prohibitive 4 stars — Highly recommended, but may have minor things that keep me from being a regular or from giving a higher rating 3 stars — Good most of the time but not great. Will only eat here if I have a particular craving, or am unable to eat at my 4 or 5 star choices 2 stars — Do not really like it but will only eat here if I have to(eating group overruled my veto) 1 star — Avoid. Save your money, time, and stomach The tacos here are solid. Been here multiple times. So why only a 3 star rating? Well they are good but not great. I typically order online and pick up for lunch at work. While I appreciate the fresh ingredients and appreciate their humble beginnings as a food truck(I LOVE food trucks!), I just have a problem with Tex-Mex aka Americanized Mexican food in general. These fancied up tacos really have so much going on with toppings and sauces, that they really take away from what makes a good street taco good. Street tacos are good because they are simple but yet full of flavor from some well cooked meat. The meat is the star of a good taco and really you could just eat the meat alone, but the rest of the ingredients(onion, cilantro, lime, and hot salsa) just accentuate the meat flavors. If you want a great taco, then check out the local Mexican-owned taco shops in North Tyler. There are a lot of good taco shops in Tyler but they are hole in the wall so I can see why a place like Torchy’s is more appealing. But there is a reason why when Mexicans want tacos, they go to a real Mexican shop… if Tex-Mex is still your thing, then you’ll probably like Torchy’s. Like I said, I do eat here occasionally, but it is mainly because I’m too pressed for time to head out to my usual taco spots(one day I’ll write some more reviews on the ones I’ve been to). If I can make one recommendation, then I’d say drain the liquid out of the green chile pork. The tacos are always soggy because of how much liquid is retained. Another suggestion is to actually make it like carnitas like the description says, instead of just slow-cooked shredded pork sitting in its juice. Fry it up in some lard. You’ll get deeper flavor and it will go even better with the green chile.

Dear Torchy’s Tacos, I dream of your damn good tacos day and night. Shout out to the Guac too! I’m your #1 fan. Whether in Houston, Austin, and now Tyler, I can always count on Torchy’s to provide damn good tacos. Don’t listen to your Unilocal haterz, they are wannabes. I love you Torchy! Forever and Always.

Fuzzy’s rips this overrated and overpriced place to shreds. Or Rowdy. Or Rusty. Taco Bueno and Taco Bell are much better and about 20 times less expensive. Hell, Dairy Queen tacos are better than Torchys. If I wanted a chicken fried steak I would go to roadhouse, or Daniel Boones, or Cotton Patch, or Cheddars… who the crap wants a chicken fried steak wrapped in a tortilla? I cannot express the level of complication of this menu. Want a taco? No, we don’t serve tacos. But you can have a vinegar braised onion injected brisket strip slathered in BBQ sauce and cream gravy, topped with a pancake and grape jelly. I still don’t know what the hell I ordered, but it was about $ 15 for a couple of tacos and some guacamole. The chips and guacamole were good, but I would never go back to this hipster hangout for a taco. It cannot be emphasized enough how overrated and ridiculously priced this place is. I expect they’ll go out of business when people figure out that the hype is unsubstantiated. This fad will pass.

Torchy’s, you did not disappoint. We showed up with the whole kit and caboodle for our cousin’s wedding weekend… we were able to push a few tables together and all make it work. We started with the green chile queso and chips. I could have eaten just this. Super creamy, just a hint of spicy chile at the end, and some surprise guac with cilantro. Literally would come back just for the queso itself. A few people in our group had the margaritas. Patron is their house tequila. What?! Um thank you, I’ll have three. The republican(sausage, pico, cheese, and ranch) was a favorite taco by the men at the table. I enjoyed the shrimp taco with pickled onions and the sauce that came with it. No one at the table liked he corn tortillas. They fell apart quite easily… and just didn’t taste right. The pork taco was also pretty dry. Bottom line: we will be back. For queso, margs, and the winning tacos. Bravo, Torchy’s, bravo.

Love their Baja shrimp tacos & frozen margaritas! These are the only things I order when I’m here! I go at least once a week. Tacos at $ 3-$ 4 are pretty pricey but it’s worth it.

Trailer Trash is good. Worst service I have encountered in a Tyler restaurant. PERIOD. Food delivered cold and not corrected. Over one hour and still no food. Have plenty of time . One other thing, it appears to me that this place is «trying» to be too hip. I’ll tell you what’s hip and that is SERVICE. Clean the place up after diners leave and get the orders out in a reasonable amount of time. The«trucker’s hats and beards» only take you so far. Enough with the«cool» factor and be cool with service.

Finally, Torchy’s in Tyler. Fabulous as always. Tacos are huge and never ordered anything I didn’t love. Queso is amazing! Huge bar in this one with TVs. Tip, to skip the line you can go straight in and sit at bar and order there.

I ordered a burrito with only meat cheese and sour cream and received a taquito. The smallest burrito I’ve ever seen(check the picture I posted) the tacos were bigger than my burrito. Lots of hype, no delivery. Torchys my advice to you is to check out California burritos in SoCal. 4 bucks bigger than your face. Get with it or get rolled over. The masses follow the masses.

The Mango margarita was very good. The staff were really nice, every one of them. So professional and really nice. We had a wonderful time.
