Established in 1997.

Dr. Shobha Tandon is a Stanford trained ophthalmologist specializing in All-​Laser Customvue Wavefront iLASIK and Advanced Laser-​Assisted Cataract Surgery. She is the Medical Director of NeoVision Eye Center.

The mission of NeoVision Eye Center is to help you ‘See Beyond Your Imagination’. With one location in the East Bay near Fremont and Union City and another clinic in Silicon Valley near Mountain View and Palo Alto, NeoVision serves patients in the Bay area by providing corrective eye surgeries and exceptional quality eye care services. The first office was opened in Mountain View in 1997. The second clinic is conveniently located inclose proximity to the Union City BART station.

Dr. Tandon personally meets all her patients for a free consultation and evaluation and performs all the procedures herself.

She has 22 years of experience with a doctorate in medical (M.D.) and a Ph. D. in Biochemistry. She was the chief resident of Ophthalmology at Stanford Medical Center.

Our medical director, Dr. Shobha Tandon, MD, PhD, is a highly trained and well-​respected board certified Ophthalmologist and LASIK surgeon with over 18 years of experience. She was voted «the Ophthalmologist of The Year» by the Consumer Research Council, awarded Honors by America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals, and was recently named one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer Research Council.

Dr. Tandon completed her residency training, as the Chief Resident in Ophthalmology, from Stanford University, after receiving her double doctorate degrees in both Medicine (M.D.) and Biochemistry (Ph.D.) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Tandon is a published author in multiple peer-​reviewed articles in scientific journals of the highest international repute and the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships.

I think they don’t care much about customer service. Doctor is no doubt gd bt staffs behavior are so rude AS IF they are doing some kind of favor to you. As per them delivery days of glasses are 7 to 10 business days but It’s been more than 21 days, still I’m not getting the glasses & not a single response from them & when I went there, the counter lady asked me to wait for some more days until they’ll notify me for delivery.

I am very impressed with Neovision Eye Center. I initially went in for a Laser consultation and learned that I am not a good candidate at the present time. They took the time to give me a full eye exam and got contacts and will be getting prescription glasses.
I intend to return in 5 years for a laser procedure at Neovision.

5 Stars! This review is for the Cosmetic Radio-​Surgery service performed by Dr. Tandon at the NeoVision Eye Center, Union City office. Recently, after receiving a free initial consultation, I chose to have the radio-​surgery service done by Dr. Tandon to remove a large skin growth I had on the skin under my eye. The procedure went extremely well, quick & painless and the result is amazing! Dr. Tandon is a very confident, highly skilled doctor and a very kind person. The entire staff at this office is the best, very helpful and friendly. I really liked how nice this office is also, very modern, super clean and professional. I am truly thankful to Dr. Tandon for my very successful experience with the Radio-​Surgery and I hope this review helps anyone in need of this service!

Dr. Tandon seems like a nice person, but she is very deceptive. She missed my father’s diagnosis and as a result, he lost vision. She said she knew what was happening after his cataract surgery. It turned out it wasn’t just the glasses. When we went to a specialist. He said that there was swelling behind the eye. By the time it was picked up, his vision had already deteriorated and never fully recovered. I would never trust a doctor who claims to do so many things and be an expert in everything. It just doesn’t add up. I don’t care how nice or cold the staff is if the doctor doesn’t know what they are doing! Great facilities and a shiny new building don’t mean squat if the doctor doesn’t realize when she is out of her expertise. I would sue her, but my father and his specialist didn’t want to. I think the specialist didn’t want to lose any business from her. I would do your research before going to see this doctor for a serious eye condition.

I want to express my dis-​satisfaction with the lack of customer service I received today while visiting your Union City facility. The receptionist you have employed to greet and interact with your clients has horrible customer service skills and is very rude. Not only was she rude to me, but I witnessed her inferior tone with the client ahead of me. When I was the next fortunate guest, I proceeded to take my checkbook out to pay for my copay. She quickly blurted, «We do accept checks, cash and credit card only» Surprised, with it being a medical facility, and most of the medical facilities I’ve gone to accept checks… I replied that it would have been nice to have been told that when making my appointment. Kim replies, «Well we haven’t accepted checks since we started…» Customer service 101 would’ve had her respond differently, maybe sympathetically. Not only was she rude when she advised that you all do not accept checks, she decided to take the opportunity to let me know that this has always been the policy; when I didn’t ask how long had this policy been in place. For the record, I am Neovision’s customer, I would think your staff would want to keep their customer’s coming back. Because of this unfortunate incident, my four children who are patients of yours, myself, and my husband who is also a patient; will be taking our vision needs elsewhere. I will make sure the parents of my children’s friend are also aware of the dis-​service I experienced as well. I am extremely unhappy as my last experience prior to this one with your facility was a pleasant one, today’s experience has caused you to loose a valuable customer. When responding please save the generic responses, I’m not looking for policy and procedure. Thank you

Two weeks ago Dr. Tandon removed a pterygium from my left eye. This surgery should have been covered by my health insurance (Kaiser) but they wanted to wait until the growth was larger and more invasive. Dr. Tandon understood and agreed with my decision to have the growth removed. The cost was very reasonable and all inclusive.
Dr. Tandon’s office is very modern and professional. Her staff is also professional and kind. Dr. Tandon, herself, is very friendly and easy to talk with.
The day that I had my surgery everything went according to the plan. The surgery was completed in less than 1 hour. Dr. Tandon volunteered to meet me in her office the following day to check on my eye, even though it was a holiday. We decided to wait 1 additional day, however. Since then, I have had additional check ups with Dr. Tandon and everything is going well.
My eye surgery was scary and I was worried about how things would go but Dr. Tandon is a top doctor! She used the most up to date surgical techniques. My eye is looking better every day. If, in the future, I need any more surgeries on my eyes I would trust Dr. Tandon.
The reason why I did not give 5 stars is because my surgery was done without any pain medication. The eye is numbed, so you don’t feel much, except it’s difficult to hold still for such a long time. I’m not sure what other doctors do but I would have liked some sort of medication to relax and sooth me … Even so, it was fast!

I’ve recently moved from Union City and I’m greatly going to miss this place! The ladies working at the desk are super nice, knowledgeable and friendly. I never really have to wait. I like Dr. Tandon a lot. She’s is quick but doesn’t rush the appointment. My only gripe about this place is that their contact lenses are EXTREMELY expensive. 50/​each for a box that I could get for 30 on 1800 contacts. Way too expensive!

I had an early morning appointment on Saturday for my first visit. After signing in they put me in an exam room and there I sat– for 45 minutes. No doctor, no explanation, nothing. So I left and got my copay refunded to me. I realize that my time is not worth as much as a doctor’s time but it is still worth something to me. Didn’t hear from the doctor or her staff afterward so I guess they don’t care much about customer service. Luckily there are lots of other eye doctors.

Got a nice building near BART. Accepts VSP. They have modern equipment and a decent collection of frames. They are a bit on the high side for some frames, but still have some lower priced frames. Frames takes 1 – 2 weeks. Goodish Service. Great if you are near the center. Be prepared to pay a bit more for frames if you want «better» frames/​lenses
Edit: Downgrade due to fact that there are better places out here in bay area. Lasik may be fine but the frames are expensive and the exam is rushed.

If you want just a prescription then go here! I only went there because I needed a prescription and this place was next to the Union City BART station so it was convienant. The staff was not very helpful in helping me understand my eye issues even though this was the first time I had ever needed to see a eye doctor.
Would not recommend to others unless you need a quick prescription.
