***WARNING *** DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT buy any dogs here!!! I have a pug and a Boston terrier that were both purchased from SHAKEAPAW with in 2 months of each other. The pug was first everything was great he is the cutest thing. Then when he was about 5 months old after already buying the Boston terrier from them my pug was screaming in pain and would not walk. Turns out he had a genetic defect called leg perthes. He needed surgery cost $ 3100. I was still under his warranty from the store so they gave me $ 2500 towards it. The owner was nice about it. I asked him please don’t buy dogs from that breeder any more. He promised me he wouldn’t and he was calling her when he got off the phone with me. The pug is fine now with his hip but he has every allergy under the sun. Tons of money for allergy testing and changes in food and vet visits. I have gone back in the store several times they are still buying from that breeder. The guys a lier and doesn’t give a fuck about dogs. He cares about money! Now my Boston terrier has a genetic condition called luxating patella so bad that his knee cap will not slip back in. He is scheduled for surgery to the cost of $ 3000 as the estimate. I love my dogs very much. They are the sweetest things and are very good looking dogs. But both of them are your worse fears about puppy mills. Please don’t buy from this store. Just find a breeder to buy from directly the breeders are cheaper anyway.

I did originally get a sick dog from here HOW EVER I’d like to say that as I look at these complaints I am seeing that they are not recent. I wrote a very bad review about the owner. I saw him recently and he is a genuine man and I realized. .he is not a veterinarian. As I was getting ready to tell him to fire her he said… oh I fired her! This man takes a lot of heat, if his vet is saying the dogs are healthy, who would he be to contradict that? I believe the reason they don’t look well is bc clearly they have to be given sedatives. (and if I’m wrong plz correct me) …they r in a cage all day and this guy I DO KNOW genuinely cares for animals. He has a new veterinarian now and close to no cases like mine. That vet he had was the problem and the hospital I brought my dog to (who will b 2 in May 104lbs lab) said that this place had brought very sick dogs to them. I don’t believe my Dukes was in there shop long enough for anyone but the vet to know he was so sick. I brought him to the hospital AFTER the vet (he fired) DID NOT recommend this; he had medicine going into all 4 limbs, oxygen tank type thing he was in nebulized several times a day but she didn’t recommend he even go! I found out later she had no hopes of him surviving. Anyways I’m saying that the owner is in a tough spot, it’s not OK TO sell sick dogs and I really don’t think that is his intention at all. He’s in a tough business and to see NO complaints for a few years shows where the problem was.

I got my buddy here, Farofa. He didn’t have a name then but now he does my little Yorkie. He is so cute, smart and cuddly. The selection of puppies are a lot and it broke my heart seeing other animals waiting for people to get them. Hope more people arrives soon to get their best friend for life.

I thought they had dogs from rescue organizations… However, I quickly realized that they also have dogs from breeders (some of the worst out there). In addition, I did not find the staff to be very friendly or helpful when I asked questions.

I WAS going to buy a puppy from that store today, but all of the workers had a pus face on and that made me feel very uncomfortable to approach them and ask them a question. Then we were approached by one of the workers who gave me an attitude saying they were closed and to leave now. Very disrespectful!

My family and I stopped in yesterday to look at puppies. While the employees were a bit lacking in information, they were friendly in general. Then…
As we were leaving a man came up to my eight year old son, far too close to him for my comfort, and started to accuse him of taunting the puppies and of saying things like «I can’t wait to get you home and torture you.» My wife and I were in disbelief, to the point where my wife started to laugh thinking this was just some bad joke. But he didn’t let up. We finally walked away, but I decided to go back in the store to warn the workers there to keep this guy out of the store– which is when I found out he is the owner. He came storming back into the store saying «if you have something to say, say it to me.» Which I did.
I don’t know what possibly could have happened. Perhaps another child was saying those things and he confused them with my son? Though I can’t imagine any child doing that. Perhaps he misheard something? My son was, in fact, talking to the puppies through their cages — pretty much saying what you would expect any 8 year old to say to a puppy. I just can’t understand it. The owner mentioned he had videotapes to prove it but of course, upon asking to see them, he backed down.
In any event, please take your business elsewhere. I can’t speak to the quality of the puppies — only to the quality of the owner.
As for the reply from Jeffrey, I am happy that he has chosen to confirm that he does in fact have the active imagination I described. Perhaps he should get out those videos he says he has to put his mind at ease.

I am beginning to think all of these 5 star reviews are written by Mr. Morton himself. Where do I begin with my horrific experience with shake a paw. I adopted a 2 month old puppy from there and the NIGHT I had her I noticed she had an awful cough. I took her to the vet and she determined it was kennel cough and prescribed antibiotics. The nightmare did not end there. 2 days later I awoke to my puppy near death. The vet told me to bring her straight to an animal hospital because she believed she was losing oxygen. Once there they immediately admitted her and determined she not only had kennel cough, but pnemonia. Not only did she have pnemonia, but she also had giardia. The doctor said my puppy was fighting both infections for weeks! The doctor wrote an «unfit for sale» letter, but when I went to shake a paw, I NEVER got a call back. Her medical bills have now exceeded $ 1,600 being that she was admitted in the hospital for 4 days. Shake a Paw «Adoption» is a clear scapegoat to not be held liable by the state for selling sick puppies. The fight for my puppy will not end just because the owner does not take responsibility. To make matters worse, the «breeder» they claim to have gotten the adoption puppy from DOES NOT EXIST, nor does the address they provide. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy/​adopt from Shake a Paw.

The best thing in my life, my precious shiba inu puppy was from shake a paw and without the help of the friendly and knowledgable staff and management, my furry little friend would never have been a part of my life. They were very professional and accomodating. Additionally they have a large selection of dogs and products/​accessories/​treats etc. Love this place — thinking about getting another puppy!

Buyer Beware. My daughter purchased a «designer dog» from Mr. Morton. She was sold as a Papipoo (papillon and Poodle). For top dollar i might add. We did a DNA test on her from the Wisdom Panel (you can purchase on Amazon). Just received the results. She had no poodle in her DNA, and the papillon is of papillon mix decent. Technically she is just a mutt. Her DNA came back as maltese, papillon mix with some pomarainium. How can Mr. morton sell a puppy with ICA registration papers when the puppy is of mixed breed origin? No matter what Mr. morton says anything that comes out of the Hunt Corporation is a puppy mill dog. If you have the money to pay his prices go to a reputable breeder who actually cares about the dog and not the money.

This place sells sick puppies. I just bought a lab there last week… already over 200 in vet bills… lower respiratory infection and giardia. They say their vet checked her before I bought her.BULL. My vet said there is NO way they did not know she had infection. One listen to her lungs and he was sure! On meds and already looking better after 2 days… DO NOT BUY A PUPPY HERE

I recently Got two puppies from shake a paw the puppies were very healthy and playful if I ever wanted a puppy again I would definitely go to shake a paw

I just got my little maltese baby from here. The staff could not have been more helpful. We put her on hold and went back a few times to see her before purchasing her, and they were more than patient. They even had these little rooms that you could take the puppy into so you could play with them without distraction. My puppy is happy and healthy.

I had a horrible buying experience with this store. I was seeking a purebred Akita for my fiancée. We had specific characteristics that we wanted the puppy to have in terms of what it looked like and we gave them to Shake A Paw so that they could find a dog like we wanted. After about 4 months (and a several hundred dollar deposit) we were notified that they had a dog for us. We went to visit it in the store and we were quickly displeased as the dog was coughing and appeared to be obviously ill. We brought this fact to the attention of the store who had the dog looked at and it was confirmed that they dog was ill. Needless to say, we did not purchase this dog.
So, we waited a few more months while Shake A Paw attempted to find another Akita for us. This time when we received the call we visited the dog multiple times, the first two went okay. However, on our final the dog appeared to have problems that did not exist during the first two visits. The dog seemed to have limited visibility and also appeared to be sneezing fairly regularly. Despite our misgivings, we took the dog home with the pet store’s assurance that we could see local vets for free to examine the dog within a certain time period to ensure that the dog was okay. Within 24 hours of the dog not improving, we took him to one of these vets and were prescribed antibiotics for kennel cough. After some time and taking the medicine the dog ‘s health improved and we still own him today.
However, when it was still unclear how ill the dog was I was in communication with Shake A Paw about the possibility of a refund due to the fact that we had now received 2 sick animals from them. I was told in no uncertain terms by the owner himself that there would be no deviating from the stated store policy in regards to refunds despite my obvious extenuating circumstances. Once the store had me on the hook for $ 1,600 they were uninterested in serving their customer or ensuring that the product that they provided was even healthy, much less of superior quality.
My experience with Shake A Paw has taught me two things about them:
1) They don’t have a problem selling unhealthy animals and don’t seem to notice or care when they are sick
2) Once they have your payment, they have little interest in the fate of the animal or their customers.
I will never shop there again.

If you’re looking for a huge selection of puppies, this is the place to go. But I don’t suggest buying one from here. Of course, you don’t buy puppies from puppy stores, but they have the largest selection of dogs I’ve ever seen! They aren’t kept in the best conditions, most of them were living with their own feces, to a point where some have rolled into it and it was all over their fur.
If you are looking for pet supplies though, this is the place to go. You’ll find anything and everything you need.
1 Star for Puppies, but 4 Stars for the supplies. Don’t expect anyone to help or greet you, so just make sure you know what you want.

Shake A Paw gets all of their puppies from the Puppy Mills… technically commercial breeders. Puppies are often taken from their mother when they are 5 to 8 weeks old and sold to brokers who pack them in crates for resale to pet stores all over the country. The puppies are shipped by truck or plane and often without adequate food, water, ventilation or shelter. Innocent families buy the puppies only to find that the puppy is very ill or has genetic or emotional problems. Often the puppies die of disease. Many others have medical problems that cost thousands of dollars. And many have emotional problems because they have not been properly socialized in the mills. Don’t bring this misery into your home.

so my sister and her husband got a puppy here… they told them that the puppy was healthy. My sister took him home and all he did was sleep and then the next day he kept vomiting and falling over. The dog got rushed to the vet and what does he have? a liver condition. It is now day four of them having the puppy and they have been taking him to the vet everyday. the vet bills are three times more then the dog its self. Please everyone don’t buy a dog in here don’t even give them your business. My family work with dogs are we could see that the dogs are very ill there. oh yeah and my sisters dog is dehydrated hes been dehydrated since he was at the crap hole. DON’T GO IN THERE ! PLEASE DON’T BUY ANY THING FROM THAT PLACE !

I got my best friend here, a Pomeranian. He is so cute and smart. The selection of puppies is very large, however and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The wide range of dog products are unique. It is right across from Costco and right off Rt. 22
* I have yet to find out if the puppies are sourced from puppy mills…

I expected the store to smell really strong because of so many dogs, but there was such great ventilation, that there was absoulutely no smell, and it didnt smell like bleach or cleaning solution. everything is well organized and their prices aren’t astronomical like some other places. Their puppies do get marked down from time to time if they dont sell and they even have coupons online. They also care about the dogs becuase there are signs all over the places with hand sanitizers. Everytime a dog poops in its cage or pees, it is immediately cleaned up. there is always someone to clean the cages. The puppies that I have played with are always lively and they dont cower in the corner of the cages.
I recently went to play with a Sheltie and the staff was not pushy and the playing rooms were very clean. All the prices are listed in the wall and there isnt any hidden fees. Everything is explained. I know people say dont buy from puppy stores, but this is one great store, because they take back dogs that were bought from them and re home them if the customer cannot keep the dog anymore. They also buy from local breeders. When I get a dog, I will buy from this store. Their website is also really nice and informative.
