Cletus’ Chicken Shack

The fried chicken plate was average at best, not as good as the roasted chicken plate you will find at Jurassic Park Café on the lower lot or at the Harry potter dining area. The cletus chicken plate was super greasy but the price and portion was good for the hungries who don’t care about their waistline. I tried their waffle sandwhich which was disguisting, the mayo was some condensed milk with mayo mixture (ew!) and the deep fried chicken patty was rock Hard– it wasn’t even the batter that made it hard but the oil and the quality of the dry cheap chicken.
Buzz cola is worth the try, nothing mind blowing but a very cool cherry tasting Cola from the Simpson’s.

This is now my favorite restaurant in the park. This replaced Doc Brown’s Chicken which was my previous favorite. It has plenty of seats with two floors. The portions are huge here. The waffle chicken sandwich was really good! It has the perfect combination of sweet and savory and comes with a side of coleslaw and crinkle fries. However, the waffles are too soft so they crumble and break apart while eating the sandwich.
My only other complaint is that there are no refills. This wouldn’t be a problem if they didn’t have self serve soda machines throughout the restaurant. We went to get a refill only to be denied because they put RFID chips in all the cups which detects whether you’ve had a drink before or not. The restaurant should just fill your drink order instead of customers having to find out that they can’t refill their drink on their own.

I really wanted a Krusty Burger from Springfield, but they were closed so we didn’t have many other choices. The next best thing seemed to be Cletus’ Chicken Shack.
There are four food items on the menu and I got #4, a Chicken Sandwich. The portion was large and it tasted just fine; I just wish there was more sauce since it was a little dry and bready. The accompanying fries were well-​seasoned, and coleslaw is also included on the side.
Decent food and pretty filling, worth stopping by to grub if you’re hungry or in the mood for chicken.

For an amusement park restaurant, this place is not bad! I got the grilled chicken sandwich, came with crinkle fries which were delicious. The grilled chicken was very thick and pretty big. My boyfriend got the chicken thumbs which is just fried chicken tenders which cajun seasoned crinkle fries which tasted better than my plain ones! His chicken tenders were pretty tender which was pretty surprising because most amusement park chicken tendere are overfried, hard and dry. The two entrees also each came with honey mustard or bbq as well as coleslaw.
The retaurant itself is very big, has a second floor and is connected to Moe’s Tavern!

I got their fried chicken platter, which was super good and filling! It came with three pieces of fried chicken, mashed potato & gravy, corn on the cob, biscuit.
I don’t know what they put in the biscuit, but it was super good! Tasted like cheese and garlic? Whatever it was, it was super delicious!
Corn on the cob was pretty juicy, to my surprise. I usually just have an A-​ok experience with these things at restaurants, so this was cool.
Fried chicken itself was crunchy and delicious as well. And as someone who loves mashed potatoes so much, I highly approve of the mashed potatoes here.
My boyfriend got the chicken and waffle sandwich, which was okay. What we did not like was how stale the waffle was. I suppose it was just sitting out there for a while during the day? Which wouldn’t make much sense because this seems like something a lot of people would order anyway. Other than that, the rest of the meal was great. I don’t know what seasoning they put on the fries, but we were blown away by how good they were. It wasn’t your typical seasoned fries!

Had the chicken waffle sandwich and it was really good!!! It came with fries and coleslaw. I just wish it had some type of dressing or spread because I felt it was a bit dry but overall excellent. I would deff purchase again!

I grew up around Universal Studios Hollywood and went there frequently growing up. Once I had their chicken strips, I was hooked! They are fresh and hit the right balance of crunchy breading and chicken.
It used to be called Doc Brown’s Chicken, but now it’s Cletus Chicken Shack. If you’re at universal studios, i HIGHLY RECOMMEND these chicken strips. \m/

Cletus’s Chicken Shack I thought to be a fictional restaurant base on the Simpson’s character redneck Cletus but we surprise how good was the fried chicken it delicious. I through the the chicken will be overcook and greasy but, we were surprise how juicy and tender the chicken was good. The sides were good including the mashed potatoes they rock good flavor in mashed also in the gravy. The corn of the cob was surprisingly good with amazing flavors.
The interior of Cletus’s Chicken Shack feel like going to Cletus’s home and tasting Brandine cooking and seeing the portraits of the Spuckler around the restaurant. My wife and I enjoy the fried chicken it was really good we would go back again to Cletus’s Chicken Shack at Universal Studios Hollywood.

By far a big mistake. Went here yesterday with my fiancé and ever since we left here we have had upset stomachs. Chicken was flavorless. Seems as if they didn’t even season the food and it was dry. Mashed potatoes were a bit cold and seemed to have a burnt look to the bottom. Don’t know if this is how you normally serve your food but this needs improvement big time. Not to mention the workers made it seem like they didn’t even want to be there.

The Chicken & Waffle sandwich is amazing. Definitely try a Duff Beer while you are there. The staff was really nice and smiling the entire time. You can tell that they have good managers that keep things working smoothly.

My favorite spot to eat so far at Universal. I first ate Universal’s chicken when it was Doc Brown’s right before they built the rest of the Simpson’s area.
I get their biggest meal to share. Gotta save some money somehow! It’s Cletus’ Peep-​Fried Chicken Platter for $ 14. Three pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and a biscuit.

Decent food and probably your best bet at Universal Studios.
Here’s what I would do if I were you… eat a big breakfast. Come to the park, last as long as you can hunger wise, and then come here and split the $ 13 chicken platter between 2 people. You get 3 large pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, a biscuit, and corn. We did this and the 2 of us were full for the rest of the day at the park. We then used the money we saved to get a really nice dinner outside the park.
As far as the food taste… it’s basically a KFC. The corn was actually really good, the potatoes were good too. The fried chicken wasn’t anything special, but it wasn’t bad by any means. If you can plan your hunger out well enough, getting out of the park with only $ 13 in food is pretty good.

I ordered the waffle and chicken sandwich, because why the hell not?! I did half it with my buddy though. Half was probably more than enough. The waffle was a bit cakey and very sweet. Chicken was delicious. I didn’t notice a sweet mayo under all that maple taste from the waffle. Very sticky and messy (bring your wet naps). I tried my daughters chicken fingers; that’s what she ordered, and they were delicious. Meaty and a good amount of batter with tasty seasoning. The French fries were the same as Krusty Burger, but I’d say Krusty has some competition here.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place.
Originally I was a little hesitant due to the fact that the place looked like a ghost town. I was determined to eat somewhere in the new Simpsons area of the theme park and chicken sounded safe enough.
My fiancé and I ordered the clucks and fries. Not quite enough food for two, but the dinner came out to $ 9.99 + $ 3 and some change. The bill came out to around $ 15 with tax.
The restaurant was so cute! There were two rooms with ‘The Simpsons’ playing on big screen tvs. The chicken was actually really good and was accompanied by a tangy bbq and a honey mustard sauce.
The soda options were endless! The only problem I had was the fact that you aren’t «allowed» refills. You have to pay or use the refillable cup. There is a little tag at the bottom that tracks your «fills»
Other than that, I’d come back. I’d love to try the other food places in Krustyland!

My family and I together ordered 3 meals and drinks. I, however, only ate the Chicken & Waffle sandwich, but tried a little bit of the Double Batter Chicken Platter and the Chicken Tenders. We also had chocolate chip cookies, but I didn’t get the chance to try them.):
The Chicken & Waffle Sandwich and the Chicken Tenders both came with fries, which tasted amazing to me. There was this seasoning on the fries that might have been a cajun flavored, but I’m not 100% sure! I just know it tasted good. The chicken from my Chicken & Waffle sandwich wasn’t the best I’ve ever eaten, but the sauce in the sandwich and the honey I drizzled on really brought the meal together. The waffle itself wasn’t too bad either.
The Double Batter Chicken Platter came with mashed potatoes with gravy, corn on the cob, a biscuit, and three thigh/​drumstick chicken pieces. The mashed potatoes tasted great and so did the biscuit!
At the restaurant they also have Coca-​Cola Freestyle machines, but they have a technology that keeps you from getting more soda refills. So, before you get confused as to why the machine is telling you no more refills, remember that there’s a sticker on the bottom of the cup that’s deactivated after you place it under the dispenser and take it off!
The place was also packed when I ate there. Most likely, if you go it’ll be packed as well so you’ll be bumping into a few people. I definitely had to say sorry more than a few times.
Next time I visit, though I wouldn’t mind eating here again.

Got the chicken tenders and fries! Really crispy chicken tenders, surprisingly one of the best I’ve had. Fries were nice and crispy too. Came with cole slaw and a choice of BBQ sauce or honey mustard. We asked for both and were kindly given both! The sauces were amazing and supposedly, homemade!
I heard you can also substitute out the fries for fruit so if you’re trying to keep up that healthy diet at a theme park, you have the option to! I opted out: P
Next time I’m at Universal again, I’ll def be revisiting this place!

Get past the fact that this is designed from the Simpsons’ Cletus eatery, then this is just an overpriced chicken joint.
I very rarely will eat at any theme park — and when I mean rare, I mean like once a decade… and this was my once a decade just due to the fact that I skipped breakfast and was starving. I would’ve went to Krusty Burger, but I had several burgers in a short span of 3 days that I needed to give my arteries a break… with some fried chicken. And coming in here, I knew I’d be spending more than usual as is the norm at theme parks.
Inside the décor is Cletus like and any fan of the Simpsons would appreciate it. They play clips of Simpsons moments and if you sit there over about 20 minutes, they’ll loop and repeat.
There were 4 primary choices — a chicken dish with 3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn, a chicken tenders/​fingers basket, an unappetizing chicken sandwich with waffle as the bread, and a 4^th dish I can’t remember. Really, it’s a nice thought but waffles and chicken do not go together. At least to me. I didn’t want the tenders/​fingers, so I chose the $ 14 dollar chicken dish. My fiancé and son ordered the tenders and we shared 2 refill cups (Homer head and Bart head). The grand total came to about $ 75 — pricey, yep… but considering the amount in refill souvenir cups it was acceptable this one time.
The chicken I must say was very good all around. I’m not sure if it’s worth the price tag, but it was filling and just well made. I tried the tenders/​fingers and they were crispy and well made. The fries were also just fine. Usually theme park food tastes like crap in which you overpay for — but this time I overpaid and it tasted just fine.
We waited several minutes for our food, but I assume it was being made fresh to order, so I had no issues with the wait. Actually it was my dish which was the holdup. The staff were friendly.
There’s seating on the ground floor and one flight up, but we found a booth in the ground floor which was clean. The place can fill up quick and by almost the time we were finishing and getting up to leave, there were several people swarming around like vultures looking for a place to sit. We were as quick as we could be, but there were two other booths in which people seemed to camp out and live in — one woman was just sitting there reading a book.
So yes, pricey but good chicken and if you must eat at Universal, it’s not a bad bet at all.

Located in Universal Studios, Cletus’ Chicken Shack will give you a glimpse into life in Springfield. And, apparently Springfield is pricey. Like the rest of Universal, you’ll spend a pretty penny on any meal. With no kid-​sized meals the youngin’s have to pay full price for meals they’ll eat a fraction of. A chicken and waffle sandwich sounded amazing but pre-​made/​frozen waffles were it’s downfall. The large, crispy chicken breast covered in a maple aioli sauce was decent, the fried were surprisingly good, and the cole slaw… I didn’t even touch it. My kid enjoyed his chicken tenders, but the portion size was so big he only ate about a quarter of it. Duff beer is available, but I didn’t partake in any adult beverages.

For a family of 4 we shared a 3 pc chicken plate and chicken fingers platter. That was plenty!
I liked this much more than Krusty Burger.

Cletus sure makes some good chicken! For $ 13, a chicken platter comes with 3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and a biscuit. It’s a really filling platter and the chicken is crispy and juicy. Corn was sweet and had a good fresh crunch. The mashed potatoes are made of REAL potatoes, not powder! The biscuit is also very yummy and is infused with honey. Seating is mostly upstairs, or you can take your meal over to Moe’s and eat it. Unfortunately, a drink is not included and drinks are about $ 3.50 for a soda. The good thing is that you can refill your drink in the soda machines yourself, but only for 1 hour. The drink cups have a tacker on the bottom that is activated and allows you unlimited refills for 1 hour only. To save money, I would suggest buying just one cup and sharing it as you can refill it. If you use any other cup, you can only get water from the machines! It’s the same thing with the drinks over at Krusty Burger! I would eat here again the next time I come! I will try the chicken and waffles next time!
Prices overall are not that bad. Remember to use your season pass for a discount! 10% off!
