Our academy offers top tier Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction to all levels.

History

Established in 2008.

The Academia Gracie was founded by Grand Masters Carlos and Helio Gracie on April 18, 1952 at Avenida Rio Branco 151 on the 17th and 18th floors. The original instructors were Carlson Gracie, Robson Gracie, Joao Alberto Barreto and Helio Vigio. They were supervised by Grand Master Helio Gracie. In 1981 the academy moved to Lagoa for a couple of years before establishing itself inside the Colégio Padre Antonio Vieira, a private Catholic school. Today the school focuses primarily in Sport Jiu-​Jitsu, but also does training competitors for a career in MMA (although it isn’t recommended, as it is primarily a Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu training gym and not a MMA training gym).

The gym is currently run by Hélio’s sons, Royler and Rolker Gracie. Almost all of the fighters in the famous Gracie family, including Rickson, have trained at the school extensively.

This is the best place to learn Jiu Jitsu in the SCV area, hands down.
Professor Mario is a walking encyclopedia of jiu jitsu. There is no one more knowledgeable in the area. In addition to his wealth of knowledge, Professor Mario is also a great instructor and amazing with kids. My son has grown in confidence by leaps and bounds since joining this school. Being part of Team Gracie Hamaita with a direct lineage from the original Gracie Academy in Rio is amazing.
You can tell that Professor Mario truly cares about his students and treats everyone like family. Not only does Professor Mario emphasize competition, he also instructs the important aspects of self defense and street defense, which are lacking in other competition-​only based schools. I would highly recommend this school to anyone in the area without a second thought.

No need to look around, the search is over… Gracie Valencia is simply the BEST place to learn Bjj hands down. I have both my kids here (my 9yr old daughter and 5yr old son who have never done Bjj) and I can’t begin to explain the improvement they both have shown. Professor Mario is amazing, he genuinely cares about the kids and is committed to them by taking the time to help them every step of the way and built their confidence… and let’s not forget coach Juan one of the most genuine, friendly and honest person I have met. He challenges the kids to believe and themselves, have pride in what they do while having fun. The kids love these 2 coaches as they are both GREAT teachers and people. This tag-​team dual definitely gives Batman & Robin/​Peanut butter & Jelly a run for their money.
Thank you Professor Mario and coach Juan for everything you have done and continue to do for both my kids… The 3rd one will be joining in no time!

I just recently moved here in valencia and was looking for a brazilian jiujitsu school. I checked different bjj gyms in the area and ended up here. The moment i did my trial class, i know that this is the place that I will be signing up. Professor Mario is a great teacher, very friendly and cares about us, his students. He is really patient and goes into details with the techniques. It really shows here that he is a great teacher because it shows on his students. No ego, no bs, everyone is willing to help, learn and grow. It is a family atmosphere. Come do a trial class and you guys will know what I’m talking about.

Gracie Valencia is the best spot to learn bjj from a great and very experienced Black Belt in Mario Aiello (5th degree black from Royler Gracie). I train here along with my wife and my 10 and 8 year old daughters, and we all LOVE it! Great place for the whole family to learn self defense, be more competitive, get fit, lose weight… just try and see for yourself! It’s a very friendly/​welcoming group where everyone encourages and helps everyone… it’s like having a second family! Experienced or not, this spot will not disappoint.

All the positive reviews on here are true! Mario is the best! We started with him about two months ago and I’ve already seen a huge improvement in my son, who had never done jiu jitsu before. My husband also started training here and said that the instruction for the men’s class has been excellent. Mario is extremely professional and trustworthy, while also very kind and caring. He is great with teaching kids, as well as knowledgeable and intuitive on guiding each child or adult with their individual needs and level of learning. His place is very clean and there is a family-​like atmosphere here with Mario and the other families/​students. If you want to learn jiu jitsu from a highly experienced professor that genuinely cares about your well-​being and progress, come here to Mario’s Gracie School. This has been a great opportunity for my son to learn jiu jitsu, build self-​esteem, and have fun. My husband has also really enjoyed training here.

This is the best Jiujitsu academy in SCV. To have a Professor like Mario as my teacher I am are very lucky, and he is a great BJJ resource. What sets Mario apart is he is a great teacher who take his time in teaching his students and takes a personal interest in every single student that walks in his door. Mario will be working with you to answer any of your questions but also, to help you improve your jiujitsu. Because of his experience and knowledge, Mario is able to build on your strengths and improve your weakness which in turns helps you be better overall. Personaly Mario is incredibly friendly and super easy to get along with, all of his students consider him a friend. Once my children are of age they will be training here.
The faculity is very clean, and there is enough room to have great training sessions. If your interested in learning Jiujitsu, do yourself a favor and check this academy out.

Those of us who live in the Los Angeles area are very lucky to have Mario Aiello as our BJJ resource. (Anyone who is interested in his credentials can easily Google his name and review his impressive BJJ history) But, I’d like to write a review on a more personal note. Mario is a fantastic teacher who will take a personal interest in every single student that walks in his door. Not only will you be learning Jiu Jitsu, Mario will be working with you, and you will be improving YOUR game. Because of his 30 years of experience, Mario is able to hone in on your strengths and weakness and really develop a real, proper and authentic Jiu Jitsu strategy. Also, Mario is incredibly friendly and super easy to get along with, all of us students consider him a friend. If someone is bored at the fitness gym, or seeking to lose weight, someone wanting to try something new, or an advanced BJJ practitioner looking to step up to the next level, I encourage you all to come give Gracie Valencia a try.

Professor Mario teaches Jiu Jitsu to all ages. A friend of mine recommended I try his school and I was glad that I did. My 9 year old son and 5 year old daughter have been enrolled in the youth class for almost a year now. My children attend class three nights a week and they love to train with Mario. He is very patient with the kids and teaches the core fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu appropriately for their age levels. The self confidence and sense of accomplishment I see in my kids after each class is worth every penny. Mario promotes a family environment in his school and has classes for all ages to include special women’s self defense classes and co-​ed adult classes. The prices are very reasonable and his class times are flexible for those with intense work schedules. All in all I give this school 5 stars!
