Franklin Hospital

Nothing really much to say about this hospital.
My reason for the three stars is for the lack of compassion in «SOME» of the staff.
I came here for a second opinion on my swollen lymph node problem and to me it was disappointing.
One good thing is that they have «Fast Track» which actually is fast and they try their best to get you in and out.
I demanded and xray for my neck and the doctor kept telling me it’s unnecessary but I put my foot down. I told him «I’m going to receive a huge bill so I would like to have whatever I request»!
He ended up giving me the xray but I feel as though these doctors and nurses should try a little harder to find out what’s wrong with you. After all, who decides to «want» a big bill. Something obviously is wrong for a patient to come here.
If anyone knows a QUALITY hospital or Doctor feel free to leave a comment.

Having a sick child she has been a frequent visitor to most of the ERs in the area, and she has been a patient at several city hospitals. I have no complaints about franklins emergency room. She is always triaged right away and always taken in. Since this hospital boarders queens and several queens hospitals have closed down it is usually packed. That’s why patients will be in hallway. The Drs and Nurses are always professional and caring. I have never seen a dirty restroom or any refuse on the floors (LOOK TO LIJ) for that one. An emergency room gives emergency care and she has ALWAYS RECEIVED THAT. When looking for an Er I want competent professionals. I also take into the factor that their are other patients and we are not the only ones. Also, another reviewer spoke of a beauty parlor, they have a nursing home where the residents can get their hair done. I would go back to franklins er anytime.

I’ve only been here once to the Emergency room. The staff were pleasant enough and it wasn’t busy so we were seen pretty quickly.
It’s located right off of the Southern State. They do have a parking lot that was pretty full but I was able to find a parking spot.
This is probably most first choice for hospitals that are close to me even though I’m in Queens and not Long Island.

went to Franklin on September 22 2015 had a stroke Nurses were attentive about two were ghetto, I stayed until September 28 2015 on discharge day in admissions on first floor they would not give me a simple stamp on my doctor line forms for my job. all it has is Name & address of hospital simple shit!!, one woman came to my room with a stamp copied my paper gave to me with no stamp smdh. I was like really she saying my supervisor don’t do that she was air head, down stairs in admissions/​admitting I came down in my gown cause they told wife no I was livid and whole staff was air heads unbelievable! came back here on 29 sept, transferred me to NORTHSHORE WHIch is so professional top to bottom I mentioned that to staff their and they were like you won’t have problems here pulse all our doctors have their stamps. this is why y’all get 2 stamps.

My dad was taken by an FDNY ambulance to Franklin. We live in Rosedale, and boy was I glad they chose this hospital opposed to Jamaica. Franklin is so easy to get to.
My father was admitted very quickly. The late night staff is very nice. The nurses are careful and very direct with the families of the patients. If you have questions, just ask, they would be happy to answer you.
The emergency room is kind of tight. The halls are narrow and there really is no place to sit. So dont bother showing up with a bunch of people because you’ll be very uncomfortable.
I would recommend.

Don’t leave your loved ones’ in this place with their jewelry.
Out of the 6 people or so I conversed with only one of them made me feel like they knew what was going on when I visited my late grandfather in intensive care.
My grandmother just told me today that a security guard stole a gold ring off his finger at night. He told my my grandmother a man in uniform came in when it was dark.
The administration said they couldn’t do anything about it because it wasn’t logged upon arrival.

Where do I start?
My cousin was 6 wks pregnant and called me at 5 am saying she was experiencing bleeding. She went and I followed behind her arriving there about 20 mins later.
When I got there the security officer showed me where to find her. She was registered and waiting for a bed. What became apparent was that even though she was pregnant, noone was overly concerned about her condition. We sat on chairs unattended and she didn’t receive said bed until about 32 mins later. The nurse on duty A. Balthazar was the most nonchalant health care worker I have ever met. I’d prefer to see her at Walmart like in the cushions isle where very little assistance is required. Luckily her shift ended around 7 so I was hopeful.
So, we’re both waiting. Over an hr and still no dr. Another nurse Marie started her shift. She was professional, courteous and caring. She explained every step of the way what she was doing and why. She confirmed that the dr had still not arrived.
As we waited a quarrel ensued between an assistant and a nurse at the nursing station across from us. One worker could be heard screaming and the other telling her to shut up. Highly unprofessional and tacky.
The dr finally arrived and introduced herself as Dr. David. She had a very stoic expression and wasn’t overly empathetic either. She did what she had to ans ordered the sonogram etc. A young man came in, introduced himself as Michael the transporter and explained he’d be taking her to the next location. He was really sweet.
After over 5 and ½ hrs we learned she was unfortunately having a «threatened miscarriage» and had to be on bed rest to preserve her pregnancy.
Overall, horrible service, unprofessional staff. Two nurses on the 1^st shift that left at 7 had on uniforms that were so inappropriate. One, an older woman had clearly taken in the scrubs (top) that her boobs could be seen floating on top of her bra, right under her chin. Another, had on pants so tight… she’ll have a life time of yeast infections.
Seriously though, if I’m dying… let me do it with dignity. Don’t take me to Franklin. Someone needs to have Franklin take a visit over to New York Hospital Queens on Main St in Flushing aka the old Boothe Memorial and have them study that hospitals best practices and revamp their service delivery practices.

This hospital smells like sweaty private parts, not only that but theres puke all over the bathroom walls!!! Eewwww well I found the culprit some old person whose begging the nurses for some kind of assistance and there just ignoring her. I also think it’s safe to say there not gonna be bothered with the vomit either. Also the staff is so rude like ok lady if your gonna come to work with an attitude maybe you shouldn’t be working at a hospital Ya think?

Brought my dad here after a slip and fall in the ice, New Year’s Eve, a couple of years ago. He was in pain and I was miserable looking at the ⁵⁄₆ others in the waiting area ahead of us and wondering how long the wait would be. His injury and information was taken by the nurse in the waiting area, I took care of his insurance info at the next window, and after waiting a little while, some people ahead of us started going in and then we were taken in as well. We were taken to a different area of the ER down a hallway. They said it was a faster track, because he only had the one area that was injured. He was checked by the doctor who was super polite and let us know that x-​rays were ordered and that they called for orthopedics to come see us. He was given something for the pain and taken to x-​ray (and they let me come along) and examined by the orthopedics doctors. It was negative. They gave us crutches and info to follow up with a orthopedist in a few days to make sure nothing was torn. I was happy with how quickly we were seen and the way everyone came in and just did their job and kept us moving. It’s a great thing to make the more limited injuries go through a different area. Our doctors were very considerate. We followed up with the one they told us about in the ER and dad did great. I told my friends I took him to Franklin and they said it wasn’t a good hospital, but after my experience I don’t agree. Overall I was very happy. Thanks for getting us through and for not ruining New Year’s Eve!

I was hit by a drunk driver 2 months ago and my recurrent pain is getting worse to the point of not being able to function.
After many sleepless nights the pain finally got the better of me!
I CAN’T TAKE IT!
I got to Franklin hospital around 4:30am and had an awful experience in terms of the service.
This morning was my second visit but I won’t be going back! I left the HOSPITAL in pain and tears because the dirty «doctor» said there was nothing he could do for my pain, gave me a prescription and directed me to a private Orthopedic doctor. What! He didn’t even give me a motrin to make me feel as if he tried to help ease my obvious distress. In fact he didn’t even touch my painful arm and said (as they had done a scan months before when the accident occurred) that it’s JUST a muscle strain. HE SHOULD TELL THAT TO THIS PAIN!!!
I literally crawled out their bed into my shirt, wiped my tears, blew my nose and slowly walked out with my head bent and heart heavy.
As I was passing the nurses station, they were so deep in their (what sounded like gossip) chat and laughter that not ONE of them enquired of this (ill looking) patient if I was able to leave at that time, if I had someone with me, can they call me a cab NOTHING! And they call themselves nurses! Caregivers!
At times like these I miss Florence…
I’m sad. I know my physical pain is causing me to be a bit emotional but I DON’T CARE! This situation is scary and it makes me angry and very sad :-(

I just came back a few minutes ago, after taking my mom to the ER. The bed they gave her was dirty! the sheets were stained (yellow, grey splotches), the walls were filthy against the bed. The curtain was dirty… one nurse opened a pack of bacitracin with her teeth. Another drew blood but left the wrappers of the syringe on the table (the one the next patient will be eating from). i was in complete disbelief at the nonchalance towards hygiene…

negative stars– I too had my father brought here by visiting nurse– first time for a blood clot– and cellulitis– he was sent home with no health aide or instructions for my adult brother caretaker who couldnt really change the adult diaper leaving my father witha poor caregiver and medicare actually covered 3 mos of nursing home care – after 3 weeks of being home the cellulitis turned into sepsis. he was admitted into ER and went in and out of critical care. My father hardly ate and the staff made little effort to assist him to eat– so he just got weaker and weaker– then was moved out of critical care and probably never checked on him until he was found deceased last week. this hospial is negligent rude and disgusting– and the psycho doctor Dr. Ausubel screamed at me to put him in a hospice and let him die a week before he actually passed. I wanted to move him out of there but it was too late. Of course no lawyer to date wants to take a medical malpractice case for an 88 year old diabetic.

My story is post operative care. It started when the anesthesiologist cut off a portion of my tongue while inserting the breathing apparatus necessary while under general anestisia. My tongue bled and swelled to a point where I was afraid I was going to suffocate while in recovery. My wife could not get an explanation about what happened and the post operative staff did not treat it. I complained to a point where I was getting very vocal. I was tild the doctor ordered medication for me. After 4 days of sufferng in addion to the surgery, i was given a cough drop in a little dixie cup. I feared so much for my well being that Ileft the hspital to seek attention for my tongue.
This happened in March, 2011. I am writing now because I wanted to see if over time and much treatment, I would heal, but guess what, I talk like Sylvester the Cat. I lisp so badly that I care not to talk anymore. My advise, STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!

A shameful hospital with unprofessional doctors, My family experienced the ultimate sacrifice of our ‘Dad” because of this hospital inexperienced staff, insolence, rude behavior, and more importantly confusion & very CAVALIER response to to my Father as he was in this Hospitals ICU for 3 days with pneumeonia… According to the doctors & staff he would be fine. Shortly thereafter he died. FYI we were in the process of trying to get him transferred to Winthrop Hospital.

The ER department neglected my father which led to his death a few weeks ago. My mother and I sat next to him for a couple of hours and was never alerted by the doctor or nurse that we should be concerned. We watched him die in front of us. And the staff acted like we should have known it was coming.
We entered the ER at 11:30am. My father was alert and speaking. About an hour later he was taken into an examine room filled with about 6 other patients. I overheard a nurse tell another patient that there were only TWO doctors on staff and that they were busy so everyone had to be patient.
They took a chest x-​ray of my father and we had to leave the room. At that time a security guard demanded we go to the waiting room because the ER was too crowded. My mother and I complied. About 20 minutes later they allowed one of back in. My mother went back and then came running back out to me. While we were out of the room they had given my father a pill and all of a sudden he needed oxygen. What?!
I ran back in and found the nurse and doctor standing there telling us that the water just went down the wrong pipe. But that my dad is fine and his oxygen levels were good and even his blood pressure was up. They did not seem alarmed. So they left my dad with the oxygen mask on. However, my dad kept fussing and at this point could no longer speak. I finally figured out that he felt like water was stuck in his throat. I alerted the nurse and she once again shrugged it off saying the water just went down the wrong pipe. I alerted the doctor and he also didn’t seem alarmed and said that he was going to give my dad IV medication. Well about a ½ hour later no one returned with any medication and I noticed my dad’s eyes and then his body convulsed. I ran and got the nurse and that was the point she went into panic mode.
A little too late.
But of course they insisted that they did everything they could. BS. But its my word against their and since my dad was older no lawyer wants to fight the case. Good to know the elderly are safe in this world.
Sorry for this horror story. It’s just another one to add to all the horror stories I have been told when everyone asks me what hospital he was taken to. The moment I utter Franklin General everyone gives me this look.
Don’t go here for anything more serious than a band aid… even that could be risky.

Horrible hospital and horrible care. The doctors and nurses of the ER are the poorest in the area if not the state. Most doctors take a patients history and do a physical exam when one comes in on a board with neck brace. Not here instead they have you wait 1 hour to be seen with EMT screaming down their necks. The doctors are a diagrace and so are the nurses who were unsure of what to do themseleves telling the EMT guys to just remove the board and brace without the doctor seeing or doing a physical exam.
Simply put if you suffer any head trauma dont go to this place demand the EMT take you to LIJ or Manhasset. This place ahould have been shut down along time ago. Poor decision by North Shore to save such a diagrace to the medical care profession.
Trust me I can go into even more horrible details of other things they did wrong that night including huge Jaco violations with operating dust filled oxygen tratment machines.
Just take the advice and stay far away from here the reputation of being the house of death and horror are still very true.

This is the worst hospital I have ever been to. I went there once in December and the hospital er and bathroom was filthy beyond belief. The second time I went back only because it is much closer than any others to my home. The nurse staff was very rude and even worse the doctor was a complete nightmare. She came to my bed (didn’t even look like a doc, no name tag no white coat) she asked me what the problem was like a waitress with an attitude. She told me that what I said happened to me was not possible and said goodbye and walked away. She refused to give me medical attention and they made me leave the hospital. A day later I went to a specialist for my condition and it turned out to be a neurological disease that is very rare. Suing this hospital in the future? Maybe.
overall do not go to this hospital. The staff is rude and has no knowledge of medical conditions outside of textbooks and their minimal education span. Any place that has a filthy bathroom and bio hazard materials on the floor is not a place to go for illnesses or surgeries.

I have been here twice for two separate, but somewhat related, emergency visits. On the first time, the nurse who was inserting my IV and taking my blood somehow messed up… «Oops» is all I heard, which is the last thing you want to hear when someone is sticking a needle in you. When I looked to my side, my bed was covered in blood. ICK. The second time, I had the same nurse and she was more successful. Sometimes you feel like the nurses forget about you. After laying in a hospital bed for hours feeling crummy, you just want to go home and feel crummy in the comfort of your own bed room. The most entertaining thing is watching the other characters who enter the ER. It makes you feel less bad about yourself. It’s not exceptional as far as hospitals go, but I would say go there if you’re in extreme pain and need to get somewhere quick and nearby.

This place is such a nightmare!!! I went there when I started bleeding during my pregnancy. I went in through the main entrance since I didn’t know my way around the place and went right up to the security guard standing in front of the door way. I told him I needed to go to the emergency room and he just told me to have a seat, so I did. I am sitting there terrified that I am having a miscarriage and it feels like I am waiting there forever. Finally I go back up to him and ask him how long he thinks it would be and he asked why i was there!!! I told him FOR THE SECOND TIME that I needed to go to the emergency room and then he pointed me towards where I needed to go. Thanks alot! Finally get there and the waiting room is swamped — not to mention, filthy and not very warm or cozy at all. They put me in a small room and ran an IV and took samples of blood and urine. I told the doctor what I was experiencing and he said they would have to call «the sonogram guy» to do a sonogram. ok, fine. About two hours later «sonogram guy» show up in blue jeans and an oversized orange t shirt. He performs the ultrasound and then I have to go back to a room and wait for the doctor to read the results for that and the blood work/​urinalysis they did upon my arrival. They didn’t have a room for me at this point so I sat on a bed in the hallway. After about an hour the doctor comes up to me and says they could not see the fetus on the the sonogram but my blood work indicated that I was pregnant. He suggested a week of bed rest and follow up sonogram and blood work at my doc’s office. Before I left the nurse comes up to me and says. Are you taking medication for your diabetes because your glucose is dangerously high. I told her I didn’t have diabetes and she said it sure looks like I do and I should go to my doctor to confirm. To sum this up, I followed up with everything Franklin Hospital staff told me to… follow up for diabetes test showed NEGATIVE result for diabetes, and follow up sonogram showed a healthy five week fetus with a heart beat. Never will go there again!!!
