AG Heating and Air Conditioning

Don’t.
$ 99 for mostly a sales call.
They try to sell you a whole new air conditioning system instead of topping up your refrigerant.
I said all I wanted was refrigerant top up for my house AC just like I do once a year. (System sometimes freezes in August when sun is on the unit in the garden late in day, but 95% of time OK at ⁷⁶⁄₇₇ degrees).
Instead, the technician/​rep told me it was «illegal» he «could not“add R-​22 refrigerant to my home AC. Period. I asked this about three times to make sure and he said he could not add it. Actually, it you check the EPA site it is not illegal to add R-​22 (see below).
Another version was ‘its illegal, without fixing the leak’. Again, no EPA rule on that I could find (but to be fair it sounds like a best practice for sure if you can afford it).
In fact afterwards I checked and they are making R-​22 till 2020 and recycling what there is, and its not illegal at all to add (there are rules about systems needing more than 50 pounds). It will just run out eventually and get too expensive. Although it costs quite a bit more per ounce than a few years ago.

He also claimed a leak test and fix was as much as a new AC system, really? I could see it could take an hour or two at best to check lines up to attic.
I paid $ 99 — for essentially a sales call disguised around some dubious advice and little action. He offered to change my air filter but I do that myself.
Later A&G finally agreed they could add some refrigerant but quoted $ 600−700(!).
Most of us with old systems just need half to one pound to top up once a year, this costs no more than $ 75 – 125 bucks a pound. What AG meant was they insist you pay $ 675 for 3 pounds flat fee. Other AC companies will just sell you just what you need and indeed I found someone to do it for 125. System works great.
Does this 1997 system need replacing soon? — Sure. Am I using too much energy? Yes, but it can go for couple more years until I feel like plonking 4K down. But the tech didn’t do what I asked and in my opinion distorted the truth to up sell up-​sell me a whole new A/​Csystem.
Final oddness, you end up with two sets of paperwork one from them and one from Home Depot, not clear who is repping who or who is responsible for what. Messy.
Go elsewhere.

Ok, we bought our new central air from Home Depot, the sales guy came out they were amazing! Everything was fantastic. Until they finished the install and got paid.
1. I scheduled the 6 month inspection with a tech to make sure it was all ok, so that my warranty is valid for the unit. (Which costs $ 100 twice a year, so that’s $ 200 a year for the life of the unit. NOT SOMETHING WE UNDERSTOOD, but if you want to keep your warranty you have to pay it and use them!) This appointment was rescheduled due to their inability to manage a schedule. I took off work and waited at the house for 4 hours. NO ONE SHOWED. I had to call them, NO ONE CALLED ME. Had to reschedule. they did gave me a whopping $ 15 off for the inspection when he finally made it out.
2. Then they call us to tell us that we need to have our final city inspection. Ok Great! lets do it. NOPE THEY WERE WRONG! No inspector needed yet because they still haven’t finished the proper install! WHAT??? So now we have to reschedule to finish the install. So, why did I spend money on point 1 if the unit wasn’t even completely installed?
3. So today they are supposed to be here to finish the install between 8−9am! NO SHOW. I gotta go to work AG. I call and say, I’m waiting here, I have to go to work, where is your guy? They call me back to tell me that their guy called in sick. Well if he called in sick and you knew that, why didn’t someone call his appointments
to tell them he was sick??? I’m not unreasonable, I’m just a person who doesn’t like to get jerked around when it comes to your company screwing up my schedule. Just call me. It’s not hard, your service guy has to call me to get into my building, my number is on the work order. Ugh.
I feel so disrespected. They don’t respect my time, my money, are unclear, can’t keep a schedule and all the apologies in the world don’t mean anything if you fix the problem with a system that is clearly broken.
We love our unit, can’t stand AG at the moment.

Customer service is terrible. They had an appointment to fix my a/​c and didn’t show up. No apology, wouldn’t even reschedule promptly. They’re no longer my ac/​heating company– I recommend using someone else. Do you really want to sit waiting for someone who doesn’t show up, doesn’t call, and doesn’t care?

Buy your own thermostat before the technician arrives if that is your issue. Otherwise they will charge you $ 350 minimum for a mediocre Honeywell 6000 pro. Costs 60 bucks on Amazon.

We needed to replace our old AC unit and ducts, and we were referred to AG through Home Depot. Made an initial appointment with Rey G. and Eddie who came to the home to give us an estimate. They were friendly, thorough, and answered all of our questions. They offered to replace our AC unit and ducts (plus remove the old one) that same week with a discount off the total price! The workers came on time later that week, prepared with all of the necessary blankets to cover our wooden floors. They were careful with covering our entire place before starting work in the attic. We had some issues with getting approval from HOA but they were able to resolve it and complete the installation in one day! No messes leftover or anything. We came home to a much cooler house and cleaner air.

I needed a new ductless unit so I was getting quotes from various companies. I looked at the Home Depot page and they offered this service as well. I thought that a well know, national company would offer a great warranty and great work.
The installation people, for some reason, do not have a step stool, so they decided to use one of my outside chairs. They did not ask me if they could use it and left it dirty when they left. I also offered to move any furniture out of the way so they could get to the wall easily. They said it was not necessary, but they ended up covering my TV stand and stepping on it. The outside of my house now has some sort of metal housing sticking out.
The service manager came back to my house with a technician and reviewed the project with me. They made the outside cover look a lot better and made it a point to make sure I was OK with it.

Signed up for a consultation at Home Depot and had the rep note that I can only speak in the evenings since I am at work during the day. The next day I get a call in the morning. I answer the phone because I think it must be an emergency. It’s NOT. It’s AG air. I reply that I’m at work and can’t talk and the rep rudely replies «UM OK» and hangs up on me. WILL NOT BE DOING BUSINESS WITH AG AIR THAT’S FOR SURE. Instead I’ll be buying my central air from SEARS.

I needed a new Furnace and had done some shopping around. Ended up calling Home Depot, which pointed me to AG as their provider. The service was great from the initial call. An appointment was made and Rey G. Drove from van nuys all the way up to Santa Barbara to provide me with a consultative and informative estimate, as ell as helping me out with HD financing.
The installers were awesome. Polite and answered all my questions. They went the extra mile to install my furnace correctly, in the extremely small space that is my attic.
Quick facts: Called them on a Saturday late afternoon. Consultation scheduled Tuesday. Furnace installed Thursday. House warm. Done.
I would recommend AG to anyone that needs HVAC work

LIAR LIAR LIAR!
The technicians, the installation team, and the inspection staff were great.
But the sales representative, Edson Ramos, lied to my face in order to get me to sign the contract.
At first he said we would get a 24-​month no interest credit line for the AC installation. But when the bill came it’s only a 12-​month no interest line. I called him and he said «Oh, many customers have the same issue, it’ll be resolved in a week. «. A week later it was not resolved. I called Edson again, never heard back. After many phone calls with the credit card company and Home Depot (who contracted AG Heating), it was finally corrected. Imagine what would happen if I did not read the fine prints on the credit card statement!
Secondly he said we would receive a $ 250 gift card after the installation. And he specifically said «You can even use the gift card to pay towards the credit line!» I was quite surprised at that so I asked «Really? Are you sure I can do that?» And with certainty he said «Yes.» Guess what, that’s a LIE. The gift card came and the fine print said you cannot use it to pay towards the credit line.
AG Heating and Air Conditioning does good work. Their technicians were responsible and courteous. But the lies from the sales representative complplease tell your sales representative to stop lying to clients in order to get them to sign the contract. It’s UNETHICAL!!!

I highly recommend this company !! From start to finish we had great service !!! We contracted AG thru Home Depot and were very happy with their work. Our heating unit was replaced and we now have state of the art equipment with lifetime guarantee — who offers that anymore !!!
The workers were very courteous, respectful, thorough, explained everything to me and cleaned up after themselves.
We were happy to boast their services with signage for our neighbors to see ! This is definitely a company to hire !

I received a call late the following day, Wednesday 8÷20÷14, from Rick at AG. He apologized and set up another consultation appointment. Sergio came out to give us the consultation. He was very informative and detailed. He offered several options and explained all of them.

Highly recommend. I had a feeling my AC wasn’t working as good as it could, so I gave them a call, set up an appointment and they came out a couple days later. The tech knew what he was doing, and fixed the issue right away. Apparently some other company had installed two filters on my AC Unit which wasn’t allowing enough air to be pulled through. Now I can enjoy summer, inside, nice and cool.

We just had a full system installed by AG and all went smoothly. We contracted with AG through Home Depot, and had no problems with scheduling. It was an all day job, with a 6 man crew. The guys were courteous and did a great job, and cleaned up after themselves when they finished. There were some challenges during the project, as you’d expect from a new install to a house bulit in 1939, but the installers worked with us and did whatever we asked. No complaints and I would use them again. I am enjoying the cool air as I write this.

When I first contacted AG and met the confident young lady who sold me new A/​C and Heating ductwork for my whole house I was excited that I would have a cooler house in summer and warmer house in winter. AG’s price was higher than the competitors that I had found but I trusted that they would do everything to my pretty high expectations. Two weeks ago I needed to replace my A/​C compressor and chose a different company because AG wanted too much money to look at the compressor I told them that I was replacing. Another company ended up selling me a $ 12,000 A/​c compressor, furnace and two humidifier units. During the install they discovered that AG had not replaced all of the ductwork that I had paid them for. They left a rusty and patched supply box attached to my old furnace. They took lots of pictures to show to AG. I know that running a small business is very difficult in California where our government taxes you and regulates you to death and I don’t like to write negative reviews of anyone but I was very disappointed when the owner of AG never returned my call when I left a message explaining my issue. When a company ignores problems it makes me feel that their business practices are in question. I hope that this info is helpful.

AG Heating and Air Conditioning is the company that Home Depot uses, so we didn’t technically choose their service, but despite that, we were overall pleasantly surprised.
I do agree with one of the other reviewers that scheduling an appointment seems to be overly complicated. While we were at Home Depot, we were told that we were not able to schedule an appointment with AG directly, but instead, we needed to schedule an appointment to be contacted by AG, and then AG would set up an appointment for an estimate. We were ready to replace our 35 year old central air and heating unit ASAP, but ended up having to wait about a week before anyone called us back, because though I watched as a Home Depot employee entered our information in the computer, AG never received it. Then it took about another week before someone came over for an estimate, and then maybe up to a week for someone to actually come over to install. The scheduling process really delayed our installation, so it was a very rough start, and I was ready to really not like this company.
However, that being said, the lady that came by to explain our central air options was great. She was really knowledgeable and went over all the price ranges and helped us to buy the right unit for us at a more or less reasonable price point.
And when the installation team came, they were some of the most professional we have encountered. The guys were on time, courteous, and explained everything they were doing. They were patient and answered all our questions kindly. We have had some renovations and installation done in the last several years, and this team really was one of the best we have encountered.
So only good things to say about the employees. Just not a fan of the scheduling process.

I scheduled my appointment with Home Depot for a heat pump replacement, they send me AG Air, price is high i think they bump the price to cover their cost and Home Depot, no complaints on the installation, if you live in Burbank then you need Duct inspection, this company send me some one who spend less than 5 minutes to pass the inspection and my cost to him is around $ 300,this whole Duct inspection is a scam, then comes the poorly coordinated city inspection, they will not leave you here they will call you for maintenance and ask you to pay a hefty maintenance fee. In short, Home Depot and AG Air is not your best choice for Heating and Air conditioning.

After a rough start getting an appointment scheduled they installation went off without a hitch!
Installers showed up with 2 huge trucks and got right to work. They covered all my floors with tarps, covered all my cabinets, beds, etc and went right to work
They took all day to get it done but did a great job, after they left you couldn’t tell they were there at all. Cleaned up all the mess!
I’d recommend them to friends!

we just had an a/​c unit installed. they did an amazing job fast and efficient. Richard the sales rep was very knowledgeable and friendly. manuel and his team kicked butt! I highly recommend these guys. Thanks guys my house is nice and cool.

Our experience with the service call was actually a fine one, the men were courteous. Called them out b/​c our a/​c suddenly stopped working. They took a look in the attic, told us we had a collapsed air duct and needed a complete overhaul of our system. It’d be a $ 10,000 job to replace everything, $ 3,500 if we just wanted to replace our collapsed air ducts which would be sufficient enough to get the air back on. We paid the $ 99 service fee and told them we’d have to think about it. Got another company to come out for a quote. While they were checking out the attic, they fixed the collapsed air duct without us even asking. Charged us $ 75 for the call, $ 25 for the repair. $ 100 vs. the $ 3500 that AG made us believe was mandatory. Obviously my wife and I don’t find them trustworthy after that. Be sure to get a second opinion. PS the 2^nd company who fixed the problem for $ 100 was HVAControl Inc. I should also add that our a/​c system was redone less than 3 years ago, so the fact that it «needed a complete overhaul» also seemed unlikely.

We came home from vacation to record cold temperatures, only to discover that our heater decided to die on us when we returned.
AG came out the next morning, identified the problem as a faulty circuit board in the heater, and had it repaired first thing the next morning. Their repairman, Jesse, was friendly and polite, and wore covers over his shoes so our house wouldn’t get dirty from his workboots.
All in all, a great experience. I hope they get more work from fellow Unilocalers!
