Went with a friend we ordered Ceviche de Pescado as an appetizer which I have to say one of the best Ceviches I’ve tasted. He ordered Lomo Saltado and I got Pescado Macho both were surprisingly very tasty, friendly staff and very attentive. I definitely recommend!!!

I was introduced to Peruvian Food down in L.A., yes, Mario’s…Moved to SFV, and searched up and down, tried many, UNTIL… TA-DAAAAAAAA…Machu-Picchu showed up! No question in my mind… MACHU-PICCHUISKINGSUPREME! Not judging by looks or parking or how you pay… blah, blah, blah… bunch of peeps here whining about insignificant issues… hehehehehe…FOOD, ALLABOUTTHEFOODPEEPS! All Saltados, all Chaufas, all Pastas… Fish, Fried Calamari, Ceviche… GOODNESSGRACIOUS… EVERYTHINGISDELICIOUS! Now when I hear Mario’s, Hatuchay, etc., etc… I JUSTLAUGH… NEVERAGAIN. Seriously…Owners really care about their food, and customers… And they specialize in seafood! If there was an extra credit star, I’d for sure give it to MACHU-PICCHU…WHAT are you waiting for… go, Go, GO-ALREADY!!! All I’m saying is… if you go elsewhere… you’ll be sorry you didn’t come here first!

Came for the Reasonably priced lunch specials. My lomo saltado was legitness. The best thing of all was the customer service. Can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Been coming here ever since I was 3. This place is a staple of my childhood. They never fail me ! The cooks have changed as the years have gone by, but the food is still delicious. My favorite plate is the lomo saltado. Whether it’s made with steak or chicken, this plate can do no wrong. The rice is yum too, white or fried. Let’s not forget those bomb bread rolls they give as appetizers ! Definitely recommend everyone try this place out at some point, it’s great !

I lived in Peru for 2.5 years as a Peace Corps volunteer and I’m currently married to a Peruvian. I travel a lot for work and I’ve dined at Peruvian restaurants all over LA, SFO, Chicago and other random places. I had high hopes due to the Unilocal reviews but this place was probably the worst of all the places I have tried. The ceviche was just okay and you could tell it had been marinating in the lime juice for too long. The papa a la huancaina wasn’t very authentic at all. But the worst was the picante de mariscos. I am not even sure they served me the right thing because it wasn’t hot and the sauce tasted like something you would make from a Knorr pasta sides packet.

Camron saltado and yuca a la huancaina is the bomb! I take all my new hires here and they love it! Best Peruvian food I’ve had here in California. I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great home made Peruvian meal! 2 thumbs up.

This place has good food and very friendly staff. Make sure you DONOT accidentally go to the Peruvian place across the street. I like the fish ceviche, tried a lot of other good things, but ceviche is my favorite. Not too many great places to eat in this little area, I’ve tried them… If you must go to Van Nuys courthouse, make sure to eat here on your lunch break.

Seafood entrees, not a bad bite. I also ordered arroz chaufa and lomo saltado which were alright. I’ll definitely go back next time I need a seafood fix.

I love the food here. I’ve been to pretty much every other Peruvian restaurant in the valley and for my taste this is the best. At least when it comes to the Lomo Saltado. I’ll take this Lomo asaltado over any other in the valley any time. My only problem with this place, and the reason I gave it two stars, is that you need to order at least 20 dollars worth of food in order to pay with a debit or credit card. Ridiculous! It’s There have been so many times that I wanted to go there by myself but all I had was a CC. They’ve lost my business many times because of that and had to go to the other Peruvian Restaurant down the street, even though I prefer this one. I’ve been going to the place since 1992 and it wasn’t that way. A real shame! But as much and at the rate that they have raised their prices, it won’t be long before you’ll have to pay 20 bucks just for a Lomo Saltado. In Google reviews many people have complained about the service. Yeah it’s not the best but they get the job done. Some complained that they don’t smile at you, when I’m not there to date the service and I don’t expect them to kiss my rear end. So just be advice that service is not the best and the quality can vary depending who is helping you, but like I said, typically they get the job done. They only need to do a better job at checking on you to see if you want anything else. The décor of the restaurant it’s nothing to write home about. It’s very plane and lacks character. But it’s clean and that’s what matters the most. You are there to eat, not for a photo shoot. Plain is not always bad.

Ok, so I grew up eating here. I couldn’t imagine myself saying a bad thing about this place growing up, but I now realize that that is only because I didn’t know any better. There aren’t many Peruvian food restaurants in the Valley, so they have that. And in reality, they food is OK. In some sense, it is worth coming back to. But in another, for what you pay, you can get more elsewhere. I dunno. Someone could say«well rate it for what it is; a Peruvian hole-in-the-wall on Van Nuys Blvd.» Yes, ok. But, it is still costing me money. So why should I not got to other restaurants in the area for the same price, and get something more memorable. The food is good. But its not really all that noteworthy. I’ve had better Peruvian, and I’ve had better food in general. I come here now more for sentimental reasons more than anything else. It would suck it this place would ever close, but I’d get over it. And I’m sure a better one would open. Or I could go to NoHo or WInnetka for noteworthy Peruvian.

Their«Lomo Saltado» dish is flawless. That dish alone gives this restaurant 5 stars and makes up for all the flaws they might have.

It was a little unclear upon walking in if I should go left or right, seat myself or if I order at a counter. A waitress walked by me several times without acknowledging me. It was over half full with probably locals who don’t need to ask all these silly questions. I sat down and waited and waited and finally a waitress came. I had my iced tea delivered with my chicken dish. It came out pretty quickly. They do their chicken Milanese with Panko crumbs. Pleasantly surprised by that. This hole in the wall is just what I was looking for. Great food and lower prices than their fancier counterparts. It filled up with more people during my time there, indicative of good food. The iced tea is great. It’s like the Lipton black tea bags and they brew it themselves. It’s getting harder and harder to find this kind of iced tea in restaurants. I waited and waited for my check and the process of paying took a lot longer than normal places. The wait staff is slow, uncommunicative, have little English language skills, but when they are at your table, they are very sweet and nice ladies.

As a Christmas gift, my aunt asked my husband and I to have a great meal. We decided to try Peruvian. The other restaurants on Van Nuys appeared to be closed for the holiday, so Machu Picchu got the call-up. Worth every penny. The papa ala huancaina was one of the best things I’ve ever had. I’m going to have to find a good recipe for that, because I don’t know if I ever want potatoes another way. I went ahead and tried the purple drink, and while I didn’t care for it, it didn’t detract from an otherwise fantastic experience. The fastest service I’ve ever received, and while our server was amused at my inability to pronounce anything in Spanish, he made sure that I got everything I ordered right, without making me feel bad at all. I can’t wait to go back here, and also to demolish my leftovers, momentarily.

I went here with two other friends and we shared 3 dishes with each other and the purple corn drink. It all tasted so good! The green sauce used with bread as small appetizer was a nice start to dinner. Who would of known the green sauce had a kick in it. If too much and you’re spice tolerance is totally weak like mine then BETTERHOPEYOUDIDN’T FINISHALLYOURWATERYET. My friends and I tried #47, 59, and 61. Since we couldn’t pronounce any of the food we just pointed at the number. The waitress was super nice about. Dish size was reasonable for their prices. We all craved seafood so those 3 #s all had seafood in it. Even though it was street parking out front, there was plenty of room so totally worth it. Meters expire at 8pm, place closes at 8:30pm. Worth the trip over.

We just happened to be in the Van Nuys area, and found this little spot. The food was on point, and felt authentic. They start you out with these super fresh rolls with butter, and salsa verde which was so so good. I ordered the ceviche mariscos, and was very satisfied. If your in the area, and like Peruvian food then definitely stop here, and grubb.

The best Peruvian place around. I’ve tried others to compare, also because I don’t live near one, but nothing comes close! I’ve been coming for years And will always come back. I introduced Machu Picchu to my boyfriend and he is in love with the place. He’s a very Italian guy with picky tastes but he had absolutely no complaints. This place is the spot for true Peruvian food!

As A first timer. Delishh! I highly recommend you try the Fries w/Carne Asada. You will be AMAZED! It’s called the«Lomo Saltado» . Not only that but they have some bomb ass fries similar to those from in n out. I did make the mistake of over ordering, so make sure if you don’t do what I did. Here is my order. –Lomo Saltado –Chow*mein –French Fries –Coke Yes, I know. Weird combination right? You’ll really only need the first order and a drink! Well on to the next place. :)

(HEARTS!) — I am truly in love w/this authentic Peruvian gem in the heart of Van Nuys. So, I was introduced to this place a few weeks ago & I cannot stop eating it. My friend brought me brunch one morning as he was being his cute Peruvian self. He brought me some Lomo Saltado, Aroz Chaufa, & some Chicha(drink). OHMYFCKNGOD! Lomo saltado: Was meat w/fries & it had some type of juice to make it somehow soggy. But it wasn’t gross or anything. I’m assuming it’s the meat’s natural juices w/a hint of lime :) — My fav! Aroz Chaufa: Pretty much chicken fried rice. Chicha: Is by far my new favorite natural drink. Apparently is purple corn, honey, & lime. Suuuuper sweet and refreshing. Can have that sh** everyday if I could. –Which I could. Bottom line, everyone and they’re momma needs to try this. Would I lie? Yes. But this time I’m for real! :p
