J’s Custom Landscaping

Their communication and follow through could use a major tweak. They started our project, and sent us a bill. But had to follow up with them multiple times about maintenance that wasn’t happening.
Stopped work with them, and found a great company that does better work, on time, cheaper, and with the best communication I could ever imagine.
Save your time and money, as they will waste both.

A representative of J’s came to my home to give me an estimate. He stated that he was going to put it together and send it to me within a few days. It’s been almost two weeks and I haven’t heard anything from him or the company. I can’t account for the actual quality of their landscaping. It’s not cool to waste people’s time — I would have appreciated a call if they needed more time to put the estimate together, or if they for some reason didn’t want the job they could have let me know.

I made a same week appointment to have someone from J’s landscaping come out to our house. We were pretty sure at that point that we had a break in our sprinkler system. Jacob came out and determined that there was no leak. He then did some investigating and found that the problem was related to how we had set our sprinkler system. He did that and fixed our problem in 10 minutes flat. We were very impressed with the company’s professionalism and timeliness. We look forward to working with them on our other landscaping and sprinkler system needs.

I’m a little late in getting this review complete but better late than never…
First off, we live in a cookie cutter sub development so our front and backyard is very postage stamp and typical of these types of neighborhoods. We love to be outside as much as possible so our goal was to create a space we could relax in. We wanted some grass space for our youngest daughter to do her cartwheels and tumbling and a space with a large gas fire pit and a pergola for a new hot tub. So first, we hired a landscape designer, Debbie Brooks from Creative Garden Spaces NW. We took her plans and received 3 different quotes and J’s Custom Landscaping was the best value by far, but not the cheapest either.
At the end of the their 2.5 week timeline in July of 2014, our backyard was completely gutted and transformed into the perfect backyard oasis we have always wanted. We are truly the envy of all our neighbors.
What sold us on J’s is the excellent communication and the experience and skill they brought. Jacob was so informative and thorough; anytime we had a question, he answered either the same day or by the next morning via email. I even was able to text him whenever I needed to. Santos was the PM for the job and he and his team were amazing! My husband and I have never seen a harder group of workers as these guys. Our neighbors kept saying how they couldn’t believe they worked from 8am — 6pm barely stopping for lunch.
In addition, we have a 1 year warranty period where they will be replacing a few plants that didn’t make it through the year and any other fixes we need. Very reassuring to know we had that to fall back on.
They even built a pergola for us for our new hot tub — they had never built one before. However, if I had to do it again, I would hire someone else to build the pergola. They had to come back several times to fix a few things. But we knew what we were getting into and at least we were able to give them the experience. It just isn’t their expertise.
J’s is also our weekly landscape service and they have been doing a great job. They fertilize, prune, etc when they need to yet the price is the same per month — it just includes it all. Very nice and easy.
I wish I could add before and after pictures as they are amazing but I believe they are also on their facebook page. They used to be anyway.

They did an absolute amazing job transforming our backyard into a place of beauty at a very affordable price. They completed the project on time and exceeded our expectations with the final result. I would definitely recommend this company without any hesitation.

Jay and his whole team are amazing. Incredible service, before, during and after the fact. They created a beautiful, peaceful escape for us in our current home and we just hired them to create the same thing for our new house on land. I had a fellow from this business over to do an estimate midday Tuesday. While I wasn’t expecting the estimate overnight I certainly expected to hear something by now (midday Saturday). I haven’t heard anything so I would not recommend this business to anyone.

Great group of guys! Fixed a sprinkler systems and the lawn another company messed up. Worked in the dark to get the job done. Highly recommend this great company.

What I really appreciate about J’s Custom Landscaping is how personable the owner Jay is and how thorough and friendly his team acts on the job. Jay spent a good amount of time with me discussing my options for irrigation and helped me understand the why’s and how’s of what needed to be done. The expertise, efficiency, and personal touch is a great thing to come by, especially with so many landscaping companies out there, you never know what quality of service you’re going to get. Definitely won out with these guys. Thanks a lot J’s, I’ll definitely call you next time I need landscaping work done!

Average quality, poor commuications. Lack of ownership… cut my phone line when trenching my lawn. Put the burden of line repair on me which took 5 days.
