Hello, my name is Mary Cacciapaglia, owner/​trainer of Paws First Choice– Dog Training in the 805 and proud owners of Xena, Princess Warrior, a 7-​year-​old Golden Doodle. We are residents of Port Hueneme and have a profound love for our animal companions. I’ve grown up around dogs, cats, birds, and a variety of other animals. Having spent much time around pets, in addition to being a pet owner myself, I’ve realized that our animal companions are some of the most loved and cherished family members in our lives! I came to a point in my life where I had no choice but to put my passion to work– and have combined this passion with the growing need of my neighbors here in Ventura to help their dog become a well-​trained member of the family.

I have a passion and talent for photography too, so I would love to photograph your pet to help immortalize your precious one.

Business Owner

Mary is a certified professional dog trainer and instructor who specializes in creating a relationship between your dog and you through mutual trust and respect. Her goal is to help you understand how to communicate with your dog (s) and interpret their behavior. Mary’s home-​based training services are custom fit to you and your dog (s).

She works to correct poor manners or bad habits in all types of dogs ranging from young puppies to mature adult dogs. She volunteers with the dogs out at the Shelter run by Canine Adoption and Rescue League and is familiar with training dogs in challenging situations.

Mary offers in-​home private lessons using positive reinforcement methods. Since every dog is different, she will modify each lesson to work on the specific needs to be addressed with your dog and you. Lessons are scheduled one at a time with no minimum number of lesson required. Packages are available, however.

Your dog will learn how to think, and you will learn how to listen.
