Pierpont Performance Sailing

Had an extraordinary idyllic 5 day tour including stops at Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz Island, channel islands, malibu anchorage, and Catalina. The boat, a Beneteau First 40, Vanishing Girl is pristine, fast and fun to sail. Accommodations were pretty comfy too. The food was included, with lots of beverages. Captains and crew were good company, I learned a lot, an easy way to get ocean experience. Loved the trip, can’t wait to go again.

I highly recommend Pierpont Performance Sailing. We spent a day celebrating a bachelorette party and Captain Paul was extremely accommodating. We all had a wonderful time. It would be great for a couples day out as well. You won’t be disappointed!

Just got back from an amazing trip to Anacapa island on the Trimaran Orange with Captain Paul. The boat was incredibly fast and the views were spectacular.
Highly recommend this trip.

We chartered «Orange» (Contour 34 trimaran) out of Pierpont Performance Sailing for a cruise to the Santa Cruz Islands over 4^th of July weekend. It was really a great trip, our first experience on a trimaran after owning a Catalina 36 and cruising around the Islands many times years ago.
It was a nice change having all the extra stability at anchor and at sea. We both agreed it was the best nights sleep we’ve had on a boat at anchor. Loved all the extra deck space for hanging out and enjoying the sun and the view. Nice cockpit area to relax with a bottle of wine and watch the sunset after a long hike on the island.
Very nice having racing performance on a well laid out cruising boat! Pretty much the perfect long weekend adventure.

Paul and Jared are the coolest captains around. Just finished a four-​day adventure with them down to Ensenada and it couldn’t have been more chill. We raced for 20 hours and the atmosphere on the boat was one of camaraderie and enthusiasm.
Would sail with them anytime, anyplace. We sailed on Orange, a 34 foot trimaran that’s outfitted for comfort and fun.
And they have these cool Wetas (smaller, dinghie-​type trimarans) I can’t wait to try out when I get back down to SoCal.
If you want a really fun sailing adventure for a day or a week, you should check them out. Prices are really reasonable and you will learn from some of the best sailors around!

I had an incredibly fun day sailing a Weta Trimaran chartered from Pierpont Performance Sailing in Ventura. It is a great place to learn multihull sailing.
It had been more than 30 years since I’ve been aboard a multihull dinghy and I was a bit apprehensive — for maybe the first five minutes in the boat. The Wetas have incredible stability and that’s really nice for a big guy who doesn’t move as fast as he did 30 years ago. I was very happy about how easy it is to move about the little boat.
I’m a very experienced keelboat racer so Paul let me take a boat out solo. The Weta is rigged as simply as a boat with main, jib and asymmetric spinnaker can be rigged, but that is still a lot of strings for one person. Less experienced and smaller (I’m about 210lbs) will want to sail with two people the first time. I’ve heard that two up teams compete successfully against solo sailors in Wetas.
These are very fast wet dinghies. My sail was on a perfect clear blustery early January day with water and air temperature both in the low 50s and I really appreciated my drysuit that day. Ventura gets great weather and I’m looking forward to summer sailing less bundled up. Ventura harbor’s sheltered water is great for learning these boats, the ocean waters of Pierpont bay with plenty of room to for long spinnaker runs.
I had a fantastic view of the Channel Islands while skimming Pierpont bay in the Weta. Paul’s other boat, the Contour 34 «Orange» is perfect for exploring those Islands and I’m looking forward to that trip soon. Pierpont Performance Sailing specializes in custom multihull missions. The Weta is great fun for an afternoon and Orange is perfect for a larger adventures.
