Very unprofessional, they spent most of their time on my front deck smoking. He quoted a price to rip out the existing flooring and sub flooring and install new vinyl planks. We would provide the materials. But then tried to get around removing the sub flooring and wanted to install the new plywood on top of the old sub floors. We told him no we wanted the old removed. They did remove it but left several high spots where the plywood did not lie flat against the other but continued to install the new flooring on top of it anyway. Now the new flooring has began to separate on those high spots. I had caught one of these uneven pieces when they were installing and pointed it out to him, instead of replacing the section that was uneven he put a piece of card board to raise the level. This is working for now but it’s only a matter if time now before that cardboard flattens out and the flooring splits there too. We called him approx 2 weeks after completion and told him about the splitting. He came and looked at it and made several different excuses none of which he took blame. I.E. it’s the plywood, you had a water leak, and the house settled. None of which were true. He told me he would call me by the weekend and let me know which day he would be out to fix it. He never called. This passed Wednesday my husband called and left him a message stating if he wasn’t going to fix it we would hire another contractor to fix it and he would bill it back to him. Then if didn’t pay it we would take him to court. He called right back and started again with the excuses about the plywood. There was plenty of plywood provided for the job where any bad spots could be cut out and replaced with a piece that would match up and lie flat. We actually returned materials that hadn’t been used. HE also installed the trim around the floors and most of the corners don’t match up and are uneven. Very poorly done job. Also a note on when we wrote him a check he asked it to be made out to him personally instead of his company so he wouldn’t have to report it to the IRS. I feel like I wasted my money because I am probably going to have to pay all over again to have it done correctly and buy all new flooring.
