Highly Recommend Dr. Shepler and Manus Center. My teenage daughter accidentally put a steak knife through her hand and the doctor the ER recommended wanted to do surgery to see if there was any tendon damage(even though she could move all her fingers with no problems). I called Manus Center to see if Doc Shepler could see her quickly and they got her in the following day! He said there was no need for surgery at all and the cuts had already begun to heal. Saved us from going through surgery and my daughter has recovered the full use of her hand! Dr. Shepler is the BEST — I would not use anyone else for hand-related injuries.

I went to Manus Center in 2008 for a sprained finger. Unfortunately, I went«somewhere else» first. The other doctors took an X-ray, and diagnosed me with a broken pinky. They put the finger in a splint, and told me it would take several weeks to heal. After a week or so, my pain got much worse, so I called Manus and was set up to see Dr. Emily Hattwick(who incidentally is no longer with Manus, but does still have a practice in the area). Dr. Hattwick reviewed my X-ray and immediately removed the splint. The other doctors had misread the X-ray; it wasn’t broken at all.(They had identified a feeder vein as a fracture!) In fact, keeping the finger immobilized for so long had allowed the tendons to seize up, making the original injury worse. Dr. Hattwick set me up with the correct techniques and PT exercises to rehabilitate my finger. Following her advice, I was completely healed. My only issue is that their office is often so over-booked that appoinments run an hour(or more) behind. But that’s just because they’re actually competent — unlike some others.

Highly recommend Manus Hand Center. To make a long story short, broke(acute) and dislocated my finger from volleyball. Went to whom the walk in ER recommended, Commonwealth Orthopedics Dr. Ben Kittredge, would never, ever, return there.(Basically he made me feel inadequate because I couldn’t bend my frickin’ dislocated broken finger and advised I just keep on moving it or he can give me a local and move it for me work around the scar tissue). Um, Nope. anyway, my regular doctors nurse recommended Manus center and Dr. Shepler. He was booked and since scar tissue was forming, I went with Dr. Emily Hattwick. EXCELLENT. Her advice, a few appointments, and one PT session I was finally able to grasp items once again, will never be 100% cured, but I am much better now, owe it all to Dr. Hattwick.
