CrossFit Chronic is a learning facility. You will receive the instruction, tools, knowledge and guidance necessary for you to achieve your health & fitness goals. We are dedicated to learning correct movement techniques and skills, physical conditioning, healthy eating habits, and self-​discipline. Our methodologies vary. Our work outs are short and intense and long and enduring. We train the body as a unit requiring you to use your brain and your muscle at the same time. Working in all planes of motion, you will throw, pull, push, climb, lift and run. You strength, power, speed, endurance and explosive movement will improve. We train outside and inside. When we are tired and when we are fresh. All levels are welcome. We will start you were you are and take you as far as you are willing to go. At CrossFit Chronic you will try new things and different things. Things you never thought you were capable of and the payoff will be tremendous.

History

Established in 2009.

Penny Hughes, the owner of CrossFit Chronic, has an extensive and diverse fitness background. For the last twenty-​four years, she has worked with the premier gyms in the Tidewater area, honing her coaching skills and developing unique programs to suit the wide-​ranging needs of her clientele. Her workouts have become renowned for their variety, integration, muscle confusion focus, and, most importantly, results! As her reputation for results grew, it became clear that Penny’s clients were far more interested in training with her, than simply poning up the monthly fee for a traditional gym with the same old equipment and the same old classes. It was a natural transition for Penny to open her own gym. SHIFT in Oct. 2009.

On Shifts 4 year anniversary they became a CrossFit affiliate. A long time goal of Penny’s for more than a year. Welcome to CrossFit Chronic. We look forward to meeting you.

For 11 yrs. Penny has trained and coached a variety of populations in a variety of settings. These experiences enable Penny to develop complete and effective programs in strength, conditioning and fitness development. She talks the talk and walks the walk. Fitness to her is not temporary but a life — long journey. One of which she continually researches, studies and practices improving her skills and fitness level to share, benefit and inspire others. She is a Level 1 RKC Instructor, CrossFitt Level 1 Coach, Certified Personal Trainer and TRX Certified Instructor.

As a natural progression Penny has opened her own gym built to suit her «movement» style training. At CrossFit Chronic she continues to teach and nurture potential. And she looks forward to meeting you.
